darrenkarp Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hi all, I feel that the price tag of $60.00 is expensive especially with the current financial climate. This, I believe will prevent many people from buying. I propose that the price should be cut by 50% to $30.00, which in my opinion would actually generate more users and more profit for the company at the end of the day. What does everyone else think? thanks Darren 4

Succellus Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) i would pay 1.5 the actuall price easely. And if crap stuff like COD can ask 60 for changes in some pixel you got to be kidding. These (DCS) will will last much more than the more of the same FPS average couple of month you ll get out there. Zomba Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 A new release in Australia is typically $80-$100usd. $60usd is a bargain. I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.
RogueRunner Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 There's nutjobs on here that wants to pay double the asking price as is :megalol: The price is set in stone me thinks and nothing you or me or anybody for that matter say will have any affect on it. So it depends on how badly you want it then :music_whistling: My opinion, it's pricey but do not feel like I have been done in when using the software, ie price is justified. 1 With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
Avilator Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 What? Are you crazy? The first post you make is complaining about how much it costs? ED could easily sell this product for twice the money. This is an expensive hobby. If you can't afford it, then quit complaining. 2 I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!" rud Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Keep in mind the number of people that are buying $500 joysticks to get the full warthog experience with this sim.

I just made a point which may help the company sell more and make more. I didn't state that I wouldn't buy. At the very least give me the credit in bringing up the topic and allowing people to comment.
winz Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 This is not a game which you put on shelf after you beat a misearble 6hour campaign, this is a game which you'll play for years. 60 bucks is a bargain. The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
spike2450 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hi Price it as to the enjoyment, how many hours will u be playing this sim!!!! When you work it out it's a steal and i hope they make a fortune out of the game if only to encourage them to get on with the next aircraft in the series. Mind you perhaps we don't want them to make enough to retire now.:music_whistling: Fine line. If their is anyone reading this thread and r still unsure as to a purchase or not, get yourself onto Youtube and c what u r missing, enough said. Happy days.
Geskes Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Counting all the hours of entertainment, immersion, and what not I have already enjoyed from this product over the past months I have already passed other releases by miles or maybe lightyears I should say per dollar spent. It is a one time investment that will stay with you for years. Not as other entertainment titles that are good for 8-10 hours untill you complete the storyline and never touched again. PS If it about current financial climate then considering relatively low value of USD it should be more expensive in USD, not less if you want the same return in other currencies. :P Nice first post :music_whistling: I7920/12GBDDR3/ASUS P6T DELUXE V2/MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G /WIN 10 Ultimate/TM HOTAS WARTHOG
MackTheKnight Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) I agree with all the other posters - $60.00 is a bargain. I've spent way too much money on crappy FPS games ($60.00 a pop) and don't get anywhere close to the enjoyment or longevity, as I do out of the DCS simulations. (And don't even get me started on MMO monthly subscriptions) $60.00 is a steal, imho. :) Edited February 28, 2011 by MackTheKnight
Distiler Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) Welcome, I think ppl is sooo overreacting for such a question... somebody has even voted him down lol, like if it was a personal attack or something (ohh excuse those corporation loyalists...) Early adopter's money will be always there so it's it's nice not to loose it! let those that can pay for it do it, with time it will lower and more pilots will join the fight. So if you're in a tough time (I am, can't spend even half of it), just wait for the price to go down (it will) and even search for offers here and there. There are other companies lowering their games entry price tag almost to zero, getting a ton of ppl and then spaming the market with extra packs at a price, I guess it all depends on many factors that only ED knows (tho, they can be wrong too!). So for DCS, just patience. Edited February 28, 2011 by Distiler 1 AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Marmusman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I think it is worth $60. I bought it knowing it wouldn't work very well on my computer.....but I know it will be around for years to come....and I am sure i will get a new computer eventually!! The full immersion of the simulation is well worth it. Heck, check out all the people building those complex simpits! The $60 is a drop in the bucket to those guys.
CarneyUK Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I wouldn't worry about the $60 dollars....it's the $400 for the HOTAS Warthog, $200 for the CH rudder pedals, $70 dollars to get the manual printed from PDF, $100 dollars on wood making your cockpit......... ........and the $4000 settlement for the divorce :D As with any company selling it cheaper would aid in selling more? (thus make more money) that's OK, but when the community for this kind of thing is fairly small compared to the millions who would buy things like COD 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc every year to get the newest game, I think by ED selling at a lower price wouldn't really make them that much more money. As they are probably already reaching the majority of the customers who would buy it at a fairly high price. I'm pretty sure ED are all over it :D "The sky is not the limit.....it's my playground!!" @paraglidecass
Agg Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Compared to what other games will cost you here in Norway, 60 bucks is a steal. That's not to say that I dont understand that some people may not afford it, but as Distiler says, the price will be lowered in time. But I dont think there's any chance of that happening now just after release.

mig29movt Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Go and buy yourself Call of Duty and compare what you get for your money! And yes: The normal mass-user games which have 5 million selled copies and more ALWAYS cost the same or differ in 2-3$ from game to game! I would buy this sim even if it would cost 200$. Back in my FS2004 times there where scenery-addons which costed that much and I know ppl who buyed this SCENERY... damn! see I wasn't even fast enough to say it first! compared to the millions who would buy things like COD 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Waiting to build a F/A-18C home-pit... ex - Swiss Air Force Pilatus PC-21 Ground Crew SFM? Cornbread Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Sixty bucks is not too much money for a title like this; that is, a military-grade, state-of-the art simulator. It is probably too little. Darrenkarp, keep in mind that DCS: Warthog is not aimed at a mass market. Rather, it is for nutjobs like us who want the most realistic experience possible. We're all willing to pay that sixty-dollar price. Lowering the price will not attract millions of Dooty Callz fanboyz who will then shell out hundreds of dollars for HOTAS, pedals, and TrackIR. In a year or so, ED will lower the price, and those who were on the fence may take the plunge, thus (hopefully) expanding the customer base. EDIT: In the time it took to type that, five others responded, LOL [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I do think that 60 bucks it worth every penny, but as I don't see it fair to compare the price of DCS A-10C with the price of some worthless game (sorry I have to say it: COD), I find it also inappropriate to compare it with the price of different hardware.
