Can't find this in the search so sorry if its already been asked but can we have rain droplets across the canopy when raining or flying through clouds?

A bit like this...

It would really add to the experience in bad weather.

Thanks.

what would be really cool, is to see FZRA, or different type of precipitation on the windsheild. But just RA would be good :music_whistling::D

Do you think that getting 9 women pregnant will get you a baby in 1 month?

It would be a nice effect. I've seen some video of an F1 racing game that has really impressive rain effects on the windscreen and helmet visor.

Alas, flying in freezing rain is not something you should try in an airplane with no anti-ice. That can ruin your whole day.

+1 to rain, it would add more immersion, plus make it harder to fly in the stuff. also freezing rain wouldn't be too bad, you would just crash if you flew in it for too long.

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

yup. very cool if it could be implemented w/o killing performance.

Indeed, could also be something that you can enable/disable in options, and it doesn't have to be a realtime effect either, that alone could save alot of FPS.

Nice Rain in Rise Of Flight

Rise of flight has the best Rain effect I have seen in a flight sim. When they implemented it there was no change in FPS at all. It has some very cool effects where the rain drops roll the correct way depending on "what way up" you are. E.g. I cashed my plane and was upside down and the rain drops where flowing the correct way, "Up" my goggles. heh heh. They also streak more depending on speed and wind.

Id love if they could "borrow" the effect from RoF.

+1 for the idea!

Even static pic of rain on canopy would be nice for starters.

Has no one thought of this before?

Exellent idea. +1 x ∞

It's been already mentioned but it is good idea to remind :]

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Yep, it has been mentioned and a great idea along with glass scratches. :)

Imo snow and rain should be implemented in another way. Like it is now, it seems snow and rain particles is rendered without applying camera transforms first, making particles appear to move around when you look around.

There is a simple mod for DCS: Black shark.

It adds static cockpit rain droplets on cockpit ka50 glass to give the effect of wet weather.

It looks pretty good when used in game:

you know what would be really cool, ice in rotor blades or cockpit :D

Realistic looking raindrops on canopy would hinder visibility more than would be realistic unless depth of field and stereo vision is modelled also. 3D and depth of field is possible technically but player can't easily control the distance where the image would be focused. In real life it's possible to see "through" the droplets and not get distracted by them but without these additional features it's not possible and would be cool only for a minute after you would turn it off as it makes seeing outside unrealistically hard.

I guess it would depend on the amount and size of the drops?

I think that Comanche vs Hokum had the raindrops thing and if I don't remember bad it wasn't annoying. More over the new Il-2 has the raindrops and ice in the windshield and it looks fine to me.
