Anyone here please help me Patching DCS A-10C! I Just got it today from the official site, Downloaded the 1.6 and 1.7 Patch. First Tried to use the 1.6 Patch, but erorr msg pop'd out and say : "You must have version 1.5" , I tried to find patch 1.5 but failed. Then I tried Patch 1.7 , weirdly it started patching the game till the end, but when I start up the game, it still on ver. 1.0.1 !!!!!!! Where I can find all patches for this game?

Thanks

Hi Hamodi,

The spash screen always says 1.0.1 regardless of what patch you have ... to see the version of the game you actually have, please either check the readme files in the game dir, or :

- from menu open "mission editor"

- from top menu select "about"

- from menu select "credits"

This will give you the patched version you have.

I expect the problem you had was trying to patch a Beta release , rather than the full release.

If you can wait for a few days (or a week) , then the FULL version with patch 1.1.0.8 integrated will be available to download, or , alternatively, download the full 1.1.0.7 release as linked above, and then download the 1.1.0.8 patch once it becomes available this week (hopefully)

Either way, you cant avoid downloading the full version if all you have is one of the old Beta versions :)

Good luck, and enjoy

Last question, can I play this simulation by my keyboard? I don't have a joystick

Wow you'll have a hard time! Its possible, with the use of the arrow keys but I would defiantly suggest getting one.

Seriosly, even if you get a really basic stick you will greatly improve your chances for enjoying it. There are several people on the forum using basic sticks, with good results, so consider that as a viable option as opposed to an expensive stick with lots of switches.

I used one of these for 2 weeks and I still loved it :)

Aye, Cyborgs are pretty nice. I used one until the potentiometers started dying after several years of extremely rough treatment.

Post a thread in the Input section if you want some help selecting a good stick that fits your budget. It does not have to be very expensive.

I got a gamepad from my friend, I will try it. I miss those days when even the most complex simulations like USAF and MS Flight simulator 98 are still playable with my keyboard :)

You mean back when they had unrealistic flight models, and if you were lucky, you had a clickable cockpit? No, I don't miss those days at all.

TBH, I don't see how it will be possible to play this sim on anything less than a $50 joystick, and if you spend twice that, $100, to get an X-52, you will be VASTLY better off compared to a non-HOTAS stick.

Generally, a HOTAS is considered a minimum requirement, though fringe folks can always be found getting by without one. Somehow, they get by, but the majority of folks require at minimum, an X-52.

Hey, I'm not trying to tell you that you won't be able to play with a gamepad; I'm just trying to inject a little realism here. Like, no one, plays with a gamepad. At least something like 99% of the folks here have a joystick, and those that don't have a joystick probably are saving up to buy one, or it's already on the way via UPS. Probably between 85%-90% of the folks here use at the very least an X-52.

You can still play A-10C with nothing but a keyboard. I tried it once, after an hour of looking through my key charts I finally started up the aircraft. After I got in the air, I could perform very basic maneuvers like shallow turns, climbs, and dives.

Ingress maneuvers? Forget about it.

A proper egress? Not a chance.

Spin recovery? ctrl+eee.

---

I had a friend who attempted to use a gamepad to play flight sims, I didn't work very well for him, and I strongly recommend a HOTAS.

At the VERY minimum a proper joystick with some form of rudder is needed to fly this sim.

Recommended amount of equipment to fly properly? I would say TIR, a good HOTAS, a sturdy set of pedals with toe brakes, and a refrigerator.

Wait, so you've had this game since the beta, meaning you preordered it months ago, yet you're only now asking if you can play with a keyboard? Really? :)

harmodi... good luck with the upgrade. If you want a cheap joystick (but a good one) get yourself along to some local boot sales (flea markets), I have recently purchased a couple of logitech extreme/wingman 3D for 20p (a few cents). USB and work fine. I do also have a Thrustmaster HOTAS X purchased new (a few more bucks obviously)... so don't deny yourself a J/stick even if it is a cheapie. Just make sure it has a USB plug on the end of the cable :)
