Use 512 every frame or 1024 every frame. For SLI & Crossfire, you will get flickering unless you enable one of the 'every frame' options. It hurts the FPS, really hope someday there is a 256 every frame option or fix for no flickering.

I noticed (for first time - but perhaps just noticed before) - as my wingman fired 2 mavericks and they passed by underneath me a "phuutt" noise- is that the sonic boom as they pass by?

whats happened to "recover" in instant action (yes I know its cheating :) !)

 

flight model feels better to me too :thumbup:

 

Check your settings, your 'Enable Recovery' setting might have been turned off, or the 'use for all missions' setting might be off.

I did not know that info about SLI. I changed to 1024 every frame and now I can see!!!!!! no wonder I couldn't lock on with Mavs. Thanks Quirk. S

I haven't seen anyone mention it, so I am not sure if it got fixed or if I am not doing something right.

 

I thought

- Cold start IFFCC elevation correctly set to DTS and not HOT on ramp start.

meant we no longer would need to change it to DTS when doing a cold start, but I am not getting DTS on the hud after everything is set. I still have to change it myself. Something I am doing wrong?

The more I fly the new version, the more stuff I notice. Or, placebo effect is in full swing :D

 

The guns now kick up a cloud of dust when hitting ground targets. Has it always done that?

Vehicle explosions are more better.

I changed my MSSA to 8Q from 4. That helped a bunch in terms of how things look. No FPS hit, but I have my max fps set to 30. Besides looks, would that change anything?

 

I get the feeling there were so many changes, they didn't all get put into the change log.

I didnt see any mention of the damage model, but it feels like it has been worked on? I had two failures today that were not the typical "MFD and CADC" failure that I normally see after being shot up. One was an engine partial power that manifested into a hydraulic issue that I couldnt solve before I had to punch out, and another was a serious engine issue that turned into a complete engine failure after some time.

 

Has the system damage model been worked or has it always been this way, and its just something I have never seen? Great stuff either way!

The only changes were - adjusted probabilities of some failures, added gun failure, and the ability to turn random failures off via options.

I noticed the same thing. Cold start and the HUD didn't default to DTS.

It was fixed, but not included to the patch. Expect it in 1.1.0.9.

I get the engine failure one quite often. Very dicey limping out with failing power - but that's what the override switch is for on the throttle :)

Coolio, no big thing, Ive gotten to a habit to check to see if DTS is selected, if not it is only a quick couple of button presses.

Frames much worse for me. Turned off mirrors to make it playable. :mad:

 

They've put more effects in game with this version (cockpit shadows, trees shadows) so it's expected to have bit worse framerate. Mirrors do take quite a bit of processing so I have them disabled (HDR too) but this was the case with 1.1.0.7 as well

 

Good news is 28nm graphics cards are on the horizon and they will have quite an improvement compared to current 40nm cards (going 40 to 28nm they can double the transistor count on same die size) so better have some extra stuff we can use in a sim and just disable them for a while, few months later you'll get these 28nm cards that should be able to handle it :)

Is it just me or has the graphics load gone up significantly in 0.8? I've had to drastically alter my in-game settings to get the game to what I consider a smooth playable experience.

 

Just doing some rough testing this morning I averaged a 30 fps drop when turning on the MAV display on the MFCD and between 10 and 20 additional frames with the TGP. I can go from 60fps to 15 with the flick of two switches. I used to lose about 20 total in 0.7.

 

Is there a way to disable the additional graphical features (like tree shadows) in a .lua somewhere?

I had to disable the mirrors when on ground and back off the trees from 10,000 to 5,000. Once those two things were done I gained back ~15-20 fps.

Love the new dynamic cockpit shadowing! Adds a whole new dimension to the sim. In my opinion!

Came back from vacation yesterday and had some time today to try out 1.1.08.

NICE!

 

Previously I've experienced some stutters when firing the gun and other things. Seemed related to audio, albeit I'm not 100% certain about that.

Problems are MUCH LESS noticeable now. I didn't realize it affected the playability this much until 1.1.0.8 came out and overshadowed 1.1.0.7...

i can't find the show briefing in flight key stroke in options. ralt - b doesn't do anything in the sim so i need to bind it suppose.
