Kuznetsov carrier + Kirov spotted west of my town

I work at a helicopter base in Norway for the biggest offshore helicopter company in Norway.

 

 

The 24th of August, our Scottish pilot, enroute to the Norne field, took photos of this "Kuznetsov" carrier and "Kirov."

 

It was 70NM west of Brønnøysund.

I wouldnt be surprised if a sub was also there. Carriers rarely leaves the home waters without at least a unit of each type covering the carrier.

Very nice catch! - not everyday you get to take a snapshot of the Admiral Kuznetsov :D . The Kirov-class vessel is the "Pyotr Velikiy"("Peter the Great") - pennant # "099" :) .

Yes and depending on the nature of the manouvers, the Admiral Kuznetsov would also travel with several other surface vessels - apart from the "Pyotr Velikiy"(Kirov-class), also the "Marshal Ustinov"(Slava-class), the "Besstrashny" (Sovremenny-class), "Dnestr" (Boris Chilikin-class) , "Admiral Levchenko" and "Severomorsk"(both Udaloy-class).

 

BTW the "Besstrashny" was renamed to "Admiral Ushakov" and the "Dnestr" to "Sergey Osipov".

I don't believe so. There is a video (on fileplanet iirc) where you can actually see an Su-25UTG doing landings on Admiral Kuznetsov.

Wings SU-25UTG do not develop. The hook is available. Training self-years. At one of them in the spring at landing to Kuznetsov the chassis has broken. Find old news.
