LawnDart Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I have the same setup with a powered USB hub (also for convenience). Mine turns the gear off automatically when there's no longer a power signal from the computer, i.e. shutdown (won't work in sleep mode though). -Ice Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Haha... as I use the PC for non-simming purposes, I don't like the idea of the gear being turned on the whole time. The hub takes power either via the PC's USB port or the mains plug, so I have to turn the plug off and take the USB connection out to power-down all my stuff. - Ice

Ghillied raptor Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) Eh, I'm contemplating getting this but I think the X-52 and Track IR has better value as compared to say, the expensive beast that is the TM Warthog. Is it really that much better than the X-52? Hell, I'm thinking about just sticking to my logitech extreme, just buy a Track IR and forget this madness :joystick: Edited November 14, 2011 by Ghillied raptor
metalnwood Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 If you fly a10 and thats your thing then you will wonder how you ever flew without it. If you don't fly a10 then you may think the x52 is better value. I think the WH is worth it anyway but it's worth 10x any other stick when it's used in dcs a10.
BigBANGtheory Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Other than the startup and shutdown procedure does the dual throttle function serve much of a purpose in A-10C?
LawnDart Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Other than the startup and shutdown procedure does the dual throttle function serve much of a purpose in A-10C? Well, how many twin engine jets vs. single engine jets do you fly in your sims? Most of the time IRL I use both throttles as one, but it's a nice bonus to be able to "walk" the throttles as you fly. Other times it's nice to be able to taxi out on one engine to save fuel, but also keeps you from riding the brakes as much on the ground and not overtemping the brakes prior to takeoff in hot weather. If you want to secure one engine because of damage, you bet ya it makes a difference having separate throttles (IRL or A-10C). ;) [sigpic]http://www.virtualthunderbirds.com/Signatures/sig_LD.jpg[/sigpic] Virtual Thunderbirds, LLC | Sponsored by Thrustmaster Corsair 750D Case | Corsair RM850i PSU | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE | 32GB Corsair DDR4 3200 | Intel i7-8086K | Corsair Hydro H100i v2 Cooler | EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW | Oculus Rift | X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty | Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1TB NVMe | Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB | WD Caviar Black 2 x 1TB | TM HOTAS Warthog | TM Pendular Rudder | TM MFD Cougar Pack | 40" LG 1080p LED | Win10 |
galagamo Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Would it be advisable to trim yaw by adjusting the thrust of either the left or right engine? Seems like it would be more economical that way as the rudder would impose drag but you could throttle down an engine and save gas. Loz Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Absolutely agree with all the above. Had mine since they first went on sale and the only problem I've had was my own fault for screwing up a firmware update on the stick. TM replaced it pretty quick. McDaniel Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I get a little ....lets say tense with my warthog.... Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I have to tell you guys, that I am not very happy again about my warthog hotas  Last weekend I had a strange thing happening in the middle of a mission an the buttons did not worked anymore. So I checked my config and I hat to find out, that my trigger fires all the buttons, and when I move the joystick, tha some buttons got activated without pushing them.....:joystick: So that means another session of TM Support, before I had to send my Throttle to france now it seems, that I have to send in my joystick.... On that occasion I also complained about the buttons loosing the color, mainly on trigger and trim button (metal buttons).... I haven t touched the X65, but the rudder on stick repulse me, and 940 seem to be a ball of scam, CH is so old that its sure for now they have quit the average joe market, and they re throttle is insuficient anyway (i had one). Lucky Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) I'm very happy with mine. Although, I am dealing with a sticky China hat issue which I posted in another thread. TM support is sending me the part to fix it. I would have been happy with just a new China hat switch, but they are sending me the whole switch assembly for the right side of the right throttle. Certainly more then I expected. Here's a picture they sent me of the part. Kenan Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Most "bricked" throttles are actually software related (firmware) and many people have signed them off and sent them to TM without even realizing they can fix it this way or another. Been there, done that. Trust me..TMW is hard to really "break" unless you're of bad luck and buy a dud..
