JG2_Miller Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Hi folks, After I finished my 900 miles flight from Tbilisi to the target near Maykop, then to the tanker near Anapa and then back to Tbilisi, I started to wonder what others have for records regarding flight distance and time. Post your longest flight gentlemen! Highest one gets a free cookie!
Eddie Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Time? Around 4.5 hours. Distance? Not a clue.
GripenNG Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 My longest since I started log is 01:37 h. It was a Navigation flight including all nav methods. Can´t wait until I start with some tactical flights, I´m sure I will make some 4-5 hours missions just to keep it real! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Snooze-81st-vFS

Speed Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) I like how vaguely worded and open to interpretation this post topic is :) In F4, I did a flight from central Saudi Arabia to strike an airbase in western Iraq once. Took like 4.5 hours, refueled in flight twice. I also flew a low level strike from southern Israel and back a few times in a mission I made. Actually, the mission got featured on SimHQ later: http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_453a.html That was a very fun, pulse-pounding mission. But I've heard tell of stories to put them all to shame... folks flying like 20 hour flights in C-130s in FSX. But personally, my longest flight was Memphis to Anchorage on Alaska airlines. Wasn't very exciting :( Never been across the pond though, anyone who has done so has got me beat handily :) While it's not flying, nothing can compare to the dude who did a full Silent Hunter 3 patrol to the mid Atlantic and back in his type VII U-boat- in realtime. JaNk0 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Speed, do you have any more info about that Atlantic patrol? Sorry for hi jacking! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
EtherealN Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 But I've heard tell of stories to put them all to shame... folks flying like 20 hour flights in C-130s in FSX. Oh god, if we include FSX then I definitely have a few flights in that range - though they included quick refueling stops on islands. Flew round the world in a beechcraft baron on compass and clock. :D In DCS... I never really thought about it, actually. Not as long as most people here, I usually find a way to get killed. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

andysim Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 ok as someone mentions FSX, 8 hours and 50 mins back in 2007 on Vatsims "Cross the Pond" Event in a 747 heh. Normaly it would be boring as hell but with a NAT track full of other pilots it got very busy hehe. Maybe 200 or 300 pilots all crossing the same hehe.
EtherealN Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 What do you do whilst flying straight and level with the autopilot on? Read book? alt tab to youtube? Recheck my wind reports and check my navigation calcs. When heading for an island in the wide ocean and spotty VOR coverage you don't want to get lost. :P Aside from that, I would read books or play on the Xbox, yeah. :) I don't fly FSX anymore now though. BlueRidgeDx Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 By far, my longest flights have been in FSX. One notable trip was in a a 747-400F from Charleston AFB (CHS) with a quick-turn at Dover AFB (DOV) then on to Ramstein AFB (ETAR). After a little "crew rest", I continued on to Incirlik AB (LTAG) and finally Bagram AB (OAIX). But I don't have time for that kind of flying anymore, so the most I get in DCS is about 1.5 at a time. RodBorza Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 In DCS A-10, usually it is 1h30 min. As for the longest flight ever, it has to be Jane's F-15, attacking targets in Northern Iraq, coming from south Saudi Arabia. It was 3 hours flight, very low over the desert, very tense. This is an amazing sim! 'Nuff said!:pilotfly: YouTube: SloppyDog

That sounds like a lot more fun than the time i actually crossed the pond! but then again that was something like 10 hours (Chicago O'Hare to Munich) in close proximity with a few hundred of my closest friends, lol. Longest flight i ever flew was an F-14 Ferry flight from Hickam AFB to North Island in San Diego in FS9, but i usually average 1-2 hours in DCS/FC. Edited November 22, 2011 by near_blind

NoJoe Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 My longest flight in real life was from Billings, MT (KBIL) to Lewiston, ID (KLWS) in a Piper Archer back in 2007. It took about 3.5 hours. (long solo cross country flight for my commercial certificate) My longest simulated flight in A-10 is probably only about 1.5 to 2 hours. Not much time for simming anymore. --NoJoe

Torment Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Only about 1 hour 40 in this sim. My flight seat can get rather uncomfortable after the hour mark.
