Mandrake5 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) I have an ATI HD5800 card - I just installed the new 12.1 catalyst driver (which AMD "highly recommend for all gamers", sigh) and immediately experienced game-breaking freezes and pauses in DCS A10-C.... So I want to uninstall and use an older catalyst version - can anyone recommend one which works really well with DCS? Thanks Mandrake Edited December 16, 2011 by Mandrake5
Mud Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I'm using 11.6 for DCS A-10 myself because it's the newest one which doesn't cause me to have the flashing white boxes. Apart from that I've never seen any major improvements when trying other drivers in DCS. Heli Shed Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 11.8 IMHO, is the most stable to date. Don't listen to AMD, they 'NEED' you and people like you to download the latest and 'greatest' so that they can identify problems with 'specific' games. Fact is, despite the lobbying, the will not finetune their driver for the DCS series, because there is nothing out of the ordinary happening graphics wise, in the sim. So......................................if it aint broke, don't bloody fix it! 11.8 Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED

I have tried some versions published after 11.6, and immediately noticed the flashing white boxes. So, 11.6 is my recommendation.
spikenet Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 yes I've noticed the flashing boxes and even 11.12 has them. Might look at downgrading to 11.6 on my 6xxx if the 12.1 preview doesnt fix it.
Lane Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) 5870,, no problem with 12.1 preview ( dont make a mistake with 11.12 ), and in general never get problem whatever is the version used. need say i have not try the 11.12 yet. Attention, the 12.1 is a beta preview driver, specifically online for 2 reasons: the HD7970 (GCN architectures ) who will be launch the 22 december and show / test new features in CCC. Snaut Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 6850, no fps gain with 12.1 but no visible bugs either. MSI GTX 770 2GB -> 1920x1200, MSI H97M, Xeon 1231v3, 16GB
HiJack Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I'm also running 12.1 and have no graphic issues. I have not played around with application profiles but that is integrated with the 12.1 preview. (HJ)

Murphyd Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Not sure if it's relevant to the issues others have been describing in this thread but following an upgrade to the 12.1 drivers, I experienced all sorts of graphical and memory weirdness including; - Green screen flickering on mission start-up - Occasional graphical artifacts - Game crashing with out of memory errors - Occasional BSODs Interestingly, performing a complete un-install of the AMD Catalyst suite then running a driver sweeper to remove the remnants followed by a clean install (rebooting between each step) solved all of the problems. The game is now running perfectly. -- Murphy
