Mustang Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/RC11Driver.aspx Found this. Will try them out soon. Not holding me breath for a fix :) You might want to consider downloading this again, the one AMD put up earlier was older according to some of the posts in this thread (check post #20 onwards) http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=357549
JG14_Smil Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 thanks, will try this in a complete reload tomorrow.
Kuky Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 BS2 worked great first time running it after install, but problem has not been fixed. I am betting this will end up like the unresolved white box issue. You might want to consider downloading this again, the one AMD put up earlier was older according to some of the posts in this thread (check post #20 onwards) http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=357549 I'm downloading this now... I so wish it fixes DCS, if AMD can't get their new official driver to work with DCS I don't see any point in keeping this video card :noexpression: Mustang, did that spyro guy, AMD tester, say anything about DCS... didn't he say he bought DCS A-10C to try it out... can you ask him for feedback and if he's made AMD aware of this? Kuky Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) No luck here.... same shit as before. This time after game freeze and sound still going on, the game reloaded... the game didn't crash, the graphics driver did  then I had all these characters across the screen... it was showing where in game FPS counter is (can't see seen in screenshots) and on menu to quit the game... see screenshot AMD you ******* suck  Edited January 21, 2012 by Kuky Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi MB | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC AIO 360 | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD x2 | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | HOTAS Cougar+MFG Crosswind ... and waiting on Pimax Crystal Super VR headset & DCS MiG-29A release

hassata Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 It sucks-but it seems drivers always lag behind the hardware. This will hopefully all be resolved in the next release. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JG14_Smil Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I can see I will have to build a new BS2 machine... and it will be Nvidia equipped. It is great to know Costume Quest works though! :music_whistling: back to WW1...
Kuky Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) It is great to know Costume Quest works though! :music_whistling: [sarcasm] yes, I was extremely happy to hear I can now play this without any issues [/sarcasm] What the hell is AMD doing... suporting junk like this and best flight simulation ever will never even get a mention... how sad, but I'm a sucker... I just also ordered backplate plate and single slot I/O bracket for 7970 direct from EK... something inside tells me AMD will somehow sort this out and I will have an awesome video card to use Edited January 21, 2012 by Kuky Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi MB | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC AIO 360 | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD x2 | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | HOTAS Cougar+MFG Crosswind ... and waiting on Pimax Crystal Super VR headset & DCS MiG-29A release
richiehatchet Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Kuky...thanks for sharing your experience....you just saved me some major bucks. Little help to you though :-( Used to be ATI fanboy but after switching to Nvidia and finding their drivers so much more reliable (especially SLI vs CF) and no stoopid Catalyst AI nonsense, I vowed never to go near ATI/AMD again as their drivers suck so bad. I was contemplating getting one of them there 7970s for going multimonitor but it seems like AMD are outdoing themselves again in the crappy drivers dept. Unfortunately releasing a buggy product and letting your customer base beta test seems to be the norm now, to the extent that I've taken to waiting at least 3 months before touching any new game or card. Hope you get it sorted. 2
TAIPAN_ Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Has anyone else tried Windowed mode? I just got through a 25 minute mission without ANY crashes. Every other time in full screen I would get crash after 10-15 minutes. Haven't got time to test more at the moment, but you guys should try Window mode and see how you go. Seems ok so far.. ps I'm still using the original Sapphire drivers. Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
Ballas Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 AMD has put up these drivers for HD7970 in their standard driver search http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/radeon-7900-series.aspx (amd_radeon_hd7900_win7_64.exe) and with these BMS crashes straight away also... I've installed 8.921.2_Dec_20_Win7_x64-@asder00 one more time and BMS runns fine again... DCS A-10C still crashes though :( Both DCS A10C 1.1.0.9 and Black Shark 2 V1.1.1.0 works fine on my Visiontek 7970 with the driver on the disc. I can't check the version now cos I'm not at home but will check later and post. I have downloaded the the latest versions of the games but have not yet installed them
metalnwood Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I remember when I got my 5990, the driver in the box ran fine, only it was crap performance and took ages until a regular driver update worked well with it. So, has anyone managed to get one working well with triple screens and got a framerate? My 6970 runs at ~ 8000x1080 and I frame limit it to 30 which it gets most of the time but it would be nice to be able to bump it up or add more detail. I have hopes for the 7970 yet.
JG14_Smil Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I think the 7970 will do three screens with no problems as long as you are not exporting and in full screen..
metalnwood Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I am sure it will, my 4 screens all come off a single 6970, windowed mode exporting 2 mfdss, rwr, etc to the fourth screen running helios. Framerate limitied to 30 I get it most of the time, only when on ground it can dip to 20 or a bit lower depending. In the air is fine and thats what I care about mostly. I would be willing to think about it if I could get it up to 40 and stabalise the ground framerates a bit more. Other games will benefit as well, of course.
TAIPAN_ Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I ran ROF in triple screen 5000x1600 with SoftTH at 60fps most of the time. It's more GPU intensive than DCS but less CPU intensive. DCS windowed mode 2 screens (1mfd) 3760x1600 was about 45fps. If Fullscreen wouldn't crash I would do Fullscreen SoftTH. This is overclocked 20% Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
Kuky Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 TAIPAN, I can now run fullscreen without problem... and it looks like if I don't use Aero theme I can run windowed mode also and I just tried running my normal config (exporting MFD's) and it didn't crash... I need to keep trying more to be able to confirm that it's not crashing any more. I am now using driver of the CD also.. I need to try that SoftTH again... now ehere was that post again from PeterP Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi MB | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC AIO 360 | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD x2 | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | HOTAS Cougar+MFG Crosswind ... and waiting on Pimax Crystal Super VR headset & DCS MiG-29A release
TAIPAN_ Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 How long for? With the CD driver it crashes in Fullscreen after 15 minutes but appears ok before that. Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
Kuky Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) That run was 20min or so... I just did another one in fullscreen (using SoftTH) and exporting MFD's and just over 30min and again there was no crash... I was using TGP and Mavericks... firing maverincks, dropping LGb and GBU and still ran good... only bug I see now is with powerlines... they are flickering now. This time I also used my high visibility distance and denser grass... I am not overclocking the CPU yet though. By the way, I had 2 broken wheels today... both on take off... I saw that Yo-Yo was refering to with that bug from flickering textures/artifacts due to gun making sparks on the runway.... but I didn't see this in cockpit view, I saw it only in extrenal view Edited January 26, 2012 by Kuky Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi MB | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC AIO 360 | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD x2 | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | HOTAS Cougar+MFG Crosswind ... and waiting on Pimax Crystal Super VR headset & DCS MiG-29A release

Kuky Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) I just tried changing back to Aero theme..started A-10C Sunset Siera mission... driver crashed within 5min and did not recover... PC crashed completed and got BSOD... looks like Aero theme might be at fault for all this... I'm gonna try now same mission again using Windows Classic theme. Kuky Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 man these drivers are "sensitive" or something else in the system is... I have made no changes to driver etc and just tried another mission again (desktop is set to non Aero there - Windows Classic) and full hour flying here and there shooting stuff and it ran fine, no stutter no crash... really weird.
