  1. 1. What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?

    • I'm so happy thanks ED ! :))
    • I like, but it could be another WW2 plane. :)
    • I dont like P-51D, I want another WW2 plane. :|
    • I want WW2 scenery, not just a WW2 plane!
    • I want Flying Legends series to have only JETs. There is no place WW2 planes at JET's playground! :/
    • I just want ED to make modern aircrafts/helicopters.. :(
    • I want carrier ops!
    • I want two seater cockpit!
    • If Flying Legends will have only ww2 planes, so it has to be independent from moderns..
    • Flying Legends must have helicopters.

No, its just what I "think about P-51D and Flying Legends" (its coming at the wrong time when limited resources should be used to fix DCS issues)

;)

Thanks you!;)

So why don't you just say it openly on the beginning ? - instead - you dragged us both in a conservation we both don't want to have!:D

For f***s sake it's been explained. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FLY THEM IN THE SAME MISSION. Now you're simply trolling. It's been explained enough.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Move along now, you have made your point. A word of advice would be to, in future, think very very carefully prior to belittling the opinions of others.

:megalol: That was good for a morning laugh, especially the comparison to a WWII aircraft in DCS to Mario Bros. Today is going to be a good day! :pilotfly:

+1 amen to that.

I won't buy any new product until DCS: A-10C is reasonably fixed, specially in MP.

Super Mario = AIM-120C-5 range > 105 km (65 miles)

No real particular skill needed...radar assisted..

WWII fighter = Pilot tactical skills in Dogfighting Guns only period..no missles..

I would tend to say the WWII Pilot's were a bit better at tactic's ..because pilots had to get alot closer to the enemy in order to shoot them down..:music_whistling:

And in what scenary? fly over Crimea...

Greetings

At the moment we've got A-10's over the crimea. It ain't gonna take that much stretching of the imagination depending how far they go with period units and stuff.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

That is a very incorrect notion. BVR tactics are insanely complicated in comparison to BFM -- thinking of multi, not 1v1. 1v1, just like BFM, is less complicated, but you still need basic tactics to win the fight, and you still need to do it better and smarter than the other guy. The only time that missile application requires 'no skill' is when you catch your bandit completely unaware and launch a high-Pk shot, or if he just flies right into the missile.

There are cases where it is not possible to escape a missile - this is exactly equivalent to going from 400kt to 120kt in someone's HUD, and showing them the top of your plane - ie. no chance of escape in BFM. I hope you get the idea :)

Yea, I got the idea..I was just making a small point of that you could fire your missle miles away without even seeing them...whereas WWII pilots had to wait until visual contact is made..in order to go into combat mode....

That is certainly the case; BVR fighting is very different, and to some degree requires more SA and knowledge of systems as well as understanding what something that isn't your plane is doing.

That's why I think WW2 sims are more popular :)

Well, there is that, but WW2 sims often have an easier time feeling more "personal" - actually seeing your opponent does offer something compared to working a contact on your scopes. Though deserves to be said that while I used to be almost 100% on the WW2 camp, once I got to actually understand how BVR works a bit better I changed my attitudes. Doesn't matter if the guy's a blip on the scope when it, in your minds eye, starts translating to a mental image of the contest. Requires more work to get to that place though, in my experience, so yeah. Probably connected to that. :)

IMHO that owes a great deal to simplified flight mechanics. Flying fingertip gets a whole new dimension when every minute manipulation of the throttle demands a correction in rudder applied, lest you really ruin somebodys day. :D

As I look forward to any new release from ED. Knowing that the fidelity will be there and it will be worth the cash. I couldnt help look in my old Sim/game box. I then was wondering.......

I appologise if this has been answered, but its central for my future happiness with the sim. Will P51-D have Europe to fly over and will it have AI from the WW 2 era?

I Remember happy days with this, ahh memories..................:prop:

From the FAQ (link in my signature):

Q: Will a world war 2 era map be included?

A: No, DCS is an open simulation environment, it is not a simulation of a specific time period.

Q: Will units from the world war 2 era exist, like ME-109's and Ju-87's?

A: That has yet to be determined. While we understand the desire for WW2 counterpart aircraft, DCS is not intended to be a full WW2 era simulation.
