  1. 1. What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?

    • I'm so happy thanks ED ! :))
    • I like, but it could be another WW2 plane. :)
    • I dont like P-51D, I want another WW2 plane. :|
    • I want WW2 scenery, not just a WW2 plane!
    • I want Flying Legends series to have only JETs. There is no place WW2 planes at JET's playground! :/
    • I just want ED to make modern aircrafts/helicopters.. :(
    • I want carrier ops!
    • I want two seater cockpit!
    • If Flying Legends will have only ww2 planes, so it has to be independent from moderns..
    • Flying Legends must have helicopters.

Yeah, if it ain't plausible - screw it! A-10s flying combat missions in Georgia? Not gonna happen, so that won't sell either. Just forget it! He's right, you know.

Much rather nothing at all than something Incredibly Awesome where the backdrop ain't Just Right.

Call me crazy but I don't think Black Shark or A-10C would sell very well if the game environment was Hawaii or a time period where they didn't operate. Modern day Georgia is a believable environment for those aircraft. For a simulator to be a simulator you don't just have to replicate the aircraft, you have to replicate the world and missions it operates in. For a period plane that means a period environment and other aircraft.

The P-51 is incredibly awesome, but it needs an awesome world as well.

Yes, another. Ever heard the expression that the customer is always right?

You do realize that the phrase is actually descriptive of how to treat a customer not the correctness of their viewpoint.

Looks like it, please read the 51 FAQ, you'll get some of your answers there. the rest you'll get in existing threads and if you still dont like it, dont buy it. We don't need another opinionated "i know better than ED" thread.

:T

Yes I've read the FAQ

Although the idea of the P-51 being done in a quality flight simulator is appealing, the rest of the project makes no sense to me whatsoever.

From the FAQ

"Yes, owners of the Mustang will be able to fly online alongside owners of DCS Black Shark and DCS A-10C Warthog, assuming the mission selected for the server is made to accommodate this."

What kind of mission would that be? Seriously this is just lunacy :(

Yes, another. Ever heard the expression that the customer is always right?

Then again, there is always the exeption to every rule :)

Be that as it may, yourself as a customer would have had a valid point of contention had it not been for the fact that the DCS Flying Legends product line is distinct and seperate from the DCS product line.

Consequently, how can you as a customer of the DCS product line reasonably expect customers of the DCS Flying Legends to forsake their need for their product, keeping in mind the fact that the two products are being developed in parallel/independantly of each other?

It's simple really: If you do not want it, don't buy it. Bashing it is a fruitless exercise that will definitely not reverse the course of action - that ship has sailed a looong time ago

Market survey question

Would you rather fly a P-51 flight simulator in:

A. A bomber escort mission over Berlin with flak bursting all around you and your wingman yelling "bandits! bandits!" as 109s streak in at you guns blazing. You look over at your flight and see a B-17 on fire with it's wing coming off, bail out guys! bail out!

B. You get to fly a P-51 in a fictional modern day Georgia against other aircraft that can shoot you down with heat seeking missiles from a mile away. Something your 1940's plane has no defense against and never faced in reality.

Yeah, I answered A. I must be nuts...

Sadly then, I will not be buying DCS P-51

I really like A-10C and wish there was a WWII sim of equal quality.

Market survey question

Would you rather:

A. Not get to fly a DCS standard P-51.

B. Get to fly a DCS standard P-51 in modern day Georgia and Nevada settings, with the possibility of other scenarios being added later if the demand seems to be there.

There. I corrected it for you.

Our lives will go on...

Also it means I won't be able to shoot your ass down..with a dogfight with the P-51D Mustang...

Ive voted "Im so happy" because I like what ED is doing here with flying legends.

HOWEVER.. i don't understand the people voting "I just want ED to make modern aircraft/helicopters" don't you want ED to expand and grow? surely this is a good thing even if you don't like old planes? more products = wider consumer base and increased revenues, not time taken away from your precious fighter the F..your fav

The options of the poll don't make sense anyway..

What's the difference between option 2 and 3?

Or: The answer to the question of the poll is "I want a two seater" or "I want carrier ops" Where's the logic in that?

Yesterday I sat down and decided to have a look at the Flying Legends DVD trailer and my 18month old grandson wanted to see Bumba on youtube so I told hime he would have to wait and he could see his Bumba after I had seen the aeroplanes.

Well he watched the video of FLying Legends with me and it was all Ooohs and Aaahs and when I went to put on Bumba he protested and kicked up a fuss until I put on more aircraft. He giggled and pointed at the screen and made noises imitating the aircraft and he was just as enthuised by the cockpit shots as the external views. I did notice that he was slightly more thrilled by radial engined aircraft than in-line or V engined, when the Corsair did it's run-up and flyby he loved that as well as the FW190.

Jets he wasn't so bothered about but we see F16s every day here, all he wanted was to watch aircraft all day and when his father came to pick him up in the evening he did not want to go home.

Looking forward to taking him to Sanicole Airshow this summer :D

Alicatt your grandson is like my 2½ year old son, he likes to see planes, he loves it when I take him to a knoll outside copenhagen airport where he can see them takeoff. He has also tried helping me with some scale modelling, and he loves flightsims (he did control the throttles when I landed an A-10C in DCS and that ended up as an ok landing.

There are a lot of people who are very excited by this upcoming release.

We don't all live in your personal bubble. Have you read the news post concerning it? Its an internal tech test project that has been decided to be release to the general public. Consider it a bonus module.

The next fast jet is still being produced, no one is demanding you buy this module, what's to complain about?

(probably a waste of my time replying.. but hey ho.)

Why?

Easily answered: Choice!

DCS

DCS Flying Legends.

Two distinct and seperate product-lines sharing the same space in accordance with the stated fact that -

DCS/Flying Legends are not era/time/decade/century-specific products.

Cannot dumb it down any further than that myself.

If you cannot allow the products to share the same space on your PC then that is OK - nobody is forcing your hand. There are others who will buy your copy.

"The DCS: P-51D Mustang will be modelled at the same exacting detail as the existing Ka-50 Black Shark and A-10C Warthog Digital Combat Simulation (DCS) aircraft and it will be online compatible with them. Based on many years of restoring, flying and maintaining Mustangs, The Fighter Collection brings its unique ability to portray this aircraft in its full glory."

IMHO, this make no sense at all. Another jet aircraft like the Corsair II or an Apatche Helo would have been suitable, but here we can see, that ED has to serve several different customers and stakeholders, and TFC is one of the bigger players...

Golfsierra2, why does that not make any sense?

Do you want ED to implement artificial incompatibility?

It makes plenty of sense. ED is simply epanding its horizons, there's nothing more or less to it than that. Plenty of people are interested in a Mustang, or any type of WW2 fighter.
