Hi fellas,

Subject title says it all....what news?

meanwhile, the DCS A-10C MP and stable platform slips from fingers all the time we wait. click limits are easily met when ambiguity is given a platform.

We have all been very patient, are we not owed a formal response as to when we can expect the next and hopefully final patch?

Thanks for your tireless work.

Are you sure there will be a 1.1.1.2 patch? The stopped patching FC2 before all bugs were squashed.

(HJ)

The two have nothing to do with each other. Another patch is likely since the environment will be shared by future products.

However, the fact that patches will cease before all of the bugs are fixed is pretty much a given, as it has been true for every single game produced since the dawn of the industry. Rather the nature of the beast, IMHO.

It's pure speculation at this point but maybe they'd like to wait -after- the introduction of EDGE. Having an incremental fix now when it's almost a given that new issues will crop up with the new terrain engine is a 'wasted' effort. Get 'everything' done in one fell swoop sorta thing...

Then again... I know nothing... I'm from Barcelona...

Yes that came out wrong. I meant they may be satisfied with the A-10C and moved on to other projects and will fix core problems there, like the multiplayer problems.

I have that horrible sinking feeling... no news of any patch or developement in quite some time.

2 new projects in the pipe

And with the recent news of paid DLC / paid mods...

Lets just say I am not very hopeful

Well it would be nice to see them at least fix simple things, like o say, not being able to re-arm without having to edit every mission, (or open the canopy, not realistic)still cant play with other bs2 players with warthogs etc, now they come out with one of the worst planes in the second world war, not even a good one, like a p-38, still no Go fast jet's, like f16's mirages typhoones, f18's etc, Its safe to say 90% of your customers thought the p51 thing was a poor choice, how the hell are p51's gonna work with a10's and ka50's if the ka50's and a10's are ever working together properly, Fix the issues first before you start getting greedy and trying to make another quick buck, or Ed wlil flop and Die very quickly, IE this is starting to stink like atari and the test drive unlimited games, not even fixing existing product for already paid loyal customers and already starting to charge for things that clearly should either be free or after they fix existing issues.

Shame, Shame , Shame

I am a game developer, I speak from experience and out of fact, may not agree with everything Ive said but history is about to repeat itself with ED guys and its gonna be a shame and no one can say you didnt know any better.

I aint a hater either, I own all products made by ED legitimately, consider this constructive critisizm, Either that or you need to hire an experienced Developer with public relations experience and strong language and communication skills oriented to the market you are targetting with a line on the questions your community raises or wants addressed or answered

While your improvised statistics are interesting, my impression is quite different. There is a thread on this, and some like it, some don't. Also remember that this isn't a closed system - people don't have to be an existing customer to purchase DCS P-51D. :)

And development of the Jet is ongoing in parallel. This isn't news, check out the FAQ and/or announcements.

how the hell are p51's gonna work with a10's and ka50's

Don't want it in the mission? Don't put it in the mission. Problem solved. :)

Please take a moment to consider rule 1.10 on this forum. Link is up at the top, and in my signature. That said, you are making a lot of assumptions here. And you know what they say about assumptions... ;)

That's nice. Then you could perhaps know the fact that these are complex matters and things need to be done certain ways for things to work. Things take time to make. What seems weird to me is that you seem to assume that development on one thing precludes development on another, which is of course false - simply because ED is a company with several developers on staff. Having the FM guys working on P-51 doesn't mean the netcode guys can't be working on netcode for something else, right? ;)

Strangely I don't consider "Shame Shame Shame" constructive, but I'll let you off the hook. :)

....now they come out with one of the worst planes in the second world war....

Do you honestly believe that or was that just thrown out there to be argumentative?

In any event, you should really ensure that you know what you're talking about before talking, especially when you cannot reconcile your version with that of historians learned on the subject-matter. Other people will tend to take you more seriously. Sadly you lost me after that misguided comment and I could not bring myself to read any further.

Edit: Just had a wee look and the numbers of credited kills for the Mustang are as follows:

Pacific Theatre: 297

European Theatre: 4239

Mediterranean Theatre: 1063

China-Burma-India Theatre: 345

Overall count: 5944

As an aside, that puts the P-51 in first place with the most credited kills of WWII. For what it's worth, the P-38 comes in at third with 3785 credited kills.

I would hope the next patch would be released before the P-51 release, it would be a shame to have it running on multiplayer 1.1.1.1 and be frustrated by crashes.

I don't like the tight lipped approach ED have on everything, although I do understand why.

It leaves the passionate community agitated.

Well, to be fair, such numbers have a few issues since they need to be controlled for sorties, flight hours, types of sorties, relative pilot training/skill etcetera. There were several cases of technically inferior aircraft racking up impressive kill ratios, and I remember some interviews with german aces where they were asked if the allies and germans had different methods of counting kills since the german top aces had so many more kills than the top allied aces - their answer was that not really, it was just that in the latter stages of the war an allied fighter pilot could fly 10 sorties and not even see a german, while the germans only had to take off and then they'd have someone to fight. :P

I feel performance numbers is the better judge, and of course the P-51D is no slouch there. :)

Yes I'm a bit bored too, lately.

I am into modern aircrafts with fixed wings. I was flying the a10 since the beta and the patches really improved the gameplay. However I didn't play much for the last 3 months since cas missions against ai forces are too repetitive over time.

When they released bs2 I had a bad feeling that the next fixed wing dcs would be delayed, now with the p51... Although they keep telling that work is done in parallel fashion.

I sure won't go for bs2 or ww2 aircrafts. So I'll take a pause and go for xplane or fc2 again.

Greetings

A piece of news every month or two would go a long way. I understand why ED doesn't want to divulge much, but I feel in the long run, it'll create more positive vibe than negative. This place isn't dead because of the few die-hard fans such as myself, but ED's sim forums at simhq and especially thaiflight are practically breeding grounds for crickets. I'm aware ED don't have the man power to do updates, ect., so I'll gladly volunteer to act as a liaison for the people at thaiflight--40,000+ members--where the majority do not understand English. ED programmers are very active at the Russian forum so this would your extension to the Thai community. No, I do not want anything. I'm just a fan and have been since Flanker. :)

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Yes we are all waiting for the patch. And if 1.1.1.2 will be tested in MP before the release then it could be really good (and stable).

You are not alone. A few days ago I started with F4 BMS. Seems to be very nice and perhaps its a useful training for the next DCS jet. :pilotfly:

IMHO DCS A-10C needs another patch. CTD, multiplayer, and many other things should be addressed. What I'd like to know is whether there will be another patch or not. And by patch I mean some update to the software that actually fix major problems, not some compatibility patch that happens to fix minor things here and there.

Why is it so hard to say a simple yes or no?

About problems being fixed, that have been in since the game was released. I like having a new CBU model etc, but come on.

Whatever though, you testers can keep defending the games flaws all you want

Same stuff that happens with the IL2 boards, and look where they are now
