it will offer nothing in the terms of authentic WWII combat experience for the P-51 pilot.

Not true. The P-51 wasn't excluively used in A2A combat. Besides, for now you can sparr with another Mustang until someone comes up with another adversary. No luck with that in FSX.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Flying some A/G missions against modern objects on a Black Sea map and sparring with another P-51 can rival FSX at most, but it's still a far cry from what the Il-2 offers. But, I guess that was never an idea behind the Flying Legends project, anyway.

Not really have you ever heard of the " Ginea pig " effect..

DCS could be just testing the market to see if it is a value to pursue other aircraft and sell them individually like " ROF " does, which creates a greater revenue for them...you buy the aircraft as you require or like ...

If the DCS-P51D goes over well enough I see the FW-109 or others coming soon..who knows maybe they have the second " Flying Legend " in wip mode right now..while they beta test the DCS-P51D Mustang...

I would like to see the A6 Intruder as the next Flying Legend aircraft since it was the first real all weather strike aircraft in its era

LTV A-7 Corsair II

That should be fun.

Mach 0.94, 600 nm combat radius, SEAD ARM capable... and 30 Mk82 :P

Not sure if for DCS level, but it still can be a great addiction to FC product line. A great opponent to Su-25.

F-18c!! STOP THIS FC3/FL MADNESS!!!!

I have no idea why you people are so attached to that aircraft.

Flying Legend: F-4 Phantom. This thing was the turning-point in US military aircraft design, and was one of the most advanced fighters in the air at the time.

Anything but a WW2 prop!

I am still trying to dig all the "Flying Legends" thing.. It will be the third DCS module thas has nothing to do with the one before.. It seems that it wasn´t weird enough multiplayer with a Ka-50+A-10 that now we are going to have a P-51?

ED said Fixed wing aircraft was going to be worked in parallel but I only see P-51 announcement, P-51 screenshot, P-51 Forum... seems fixed wing fighter is in a distant future, more than ED want us to realize :detective_2::suspect:

ED said that they are working on the next "real" DCS Module in Parallel and my guess is that we can expect the official announcement somewhere in 2025...:D...kidding, my real guess is that we can expect the announcement /screenshot and Forum addition either after Beta/retail release of the P-51 or somewhere in between.

If the month May passes by without any information we´d start a collective complain about that information politics. Until May we´d keep patiently waiting...:joystick::joystick::smartass:

My opinion. Stop making these WWII legends. There are other games for that. I would rather have a SAM group commander simm and get attacked by some DCS A-10s and F-15Es in a MP game.

Why not, but we still don't have a DCS: two seater, let alone five seater ...

F/A-18!!! :) j/k

FW-190 for proper DAC

DRATS!! I came here to make the same joke, but someone beat me to it.

Really though, FW-190 or BF-109. Maybe then I could consider dropping money on the horsey.

I wish in Multiplayer, as long as both parties on the same side or team agree to dogfight and shoot at each other with intent to down the plane, get rid of the teamkill aspect of the game/sim. Otherwise I would think the teamkill aspect of the sim is going to interfere with a guy's reputation.

P-51 should easily be able to get within the turn radius of most jets.

Anybody have any idea whether the guns' convergence distance will be adjustable? Has the prototype design gone to the testers, yet? Or did the testing guys swear an oath not to reveal anything until ED allows it?

Variable pitch prop?

Do you guys do Reno races?:D

No need for that. As it is with the A-10C, you can just fly as part of one coalition with the opposing coalition also having flyable A-10C's. In other words, there are Red and Blue A-10C's - pick your poison and tango. No teamkill/s in a Red vs Blue scenario.

I would assume that the above will equally apply to the Mustang.

What good does a small turn radius do when your oponent can engage and disengage at will? Besides, the mustang just isn't able to sustain the g-load a jet fighter does. If you try, you'll do one turn and then you are falling out of the sky.
