You can do what you will :thumbup: It would be nice NOT to see anyone here get into any kind of trouble with ED or legally just because of someone's good intentions. While wanting to recreate a skin that reflects a historical piece is great and all, sometimes they are best left out. Case in point. I bet the skin w/o the swastika ED would accept, since that is what Mr Groove asked you to remove. Just my 2 cents.

 

Yup, I will submit it here without the swastika, its not that big of a deal. IL2: COD did not ship with this symbol on their German planes either. Really its why my original screen didnt have one... I was a little leery...

OK, removed the swastika from the skin as required.

I removed the swastika from the skin even though I think that the Luftwaffe has nothing to do with the horrors done by the Nazis.

It is amazing how powerful that symbol is when you add it to a skin, the difference it makes, but then that just goes to prove why some people still dont want to see it. Its a fair request, specially when we are talking about a skin for a P-51 :)

Personally I think the Iron Cross is a more distinguishing/prettier feature/symbol.

I agree, its a crisp sharp looking symbol. But it helps that it doesnt have the baggage of the swastika either :)

 

Hmm maybe I will see how it looks with the current cross on it... heck this is fictional right :)

The German laws do allow for it's use as a legitimate religious symbol.

Well because the is a site rule, you must follow it, but I would like it to be known that the Russian law only prohibits it for anti-semitism. An amendment was made to allow it for art, documents, and historical, and scientific reasons.

One could do what has been done in modelling societies in Germany for years, remove the bent arms and leave an X on the fin.

If offcourse that would be allowed by ED, since that would not be a swastika.

I will consider that if there is enough interest in that. But considering its a P-51 skin I am not sure how bent out of shape people are going to get over "historically correct" :)

 

I honestly thought I would get more heat over making a German skin on an American plane rather than worrying about a decal.... historically speaking... :)

I agree, why hide from history? are we not supposed to learn from it? I don't understand why the German people are so ashamed (the war was 70 years ago and a mad man brainwashed his people, I hold no hatred towards Germans because of what happened.. its kind of like if USA banned any form of speaking about slavery) I understand the horrible things that political party that shall not be named did, but its part of history, let us all learn of the horrible mistakes made and become better people because of it... every country/type of person no matter what religion/ethnicity has made some sort of horrible mistake before... let us learn from these mistakes, not hide from them and be ashamed

Let's leave that particular aspect of the discussion alone now shall we? The request has been made and acknowledged by the author of the skin. Let's respect the request and the author's decision to abide by the request and move along.

If you are going to have one-on-one (or more) dogfights, it is much better to have an "enemy" paint scheme on one set of aircraft. We don;t what any friendly fire problems!

Oh yeah... I've had enough troubles online with friendlies flying in to a furball I'm taking part in, and when I see them I think "ah, great, now I have some help"... Only to be killed by them seconds later... :P

In German retail, no product is allowed to be sold with the Swastika. It would not get a USK rating.
