Am I the only one, who dislikes the new electric power lines from BS2, A10C and World?

I think, that power lines in BS1 were more real, because they were almost invisible, as in RL!

Please, redo them to the BS1 look :helpsmilie:

+1!

I think the new power cables look very cartoonish - as if someone's drawn them on the screen with a marker pen. Not sure why they changed the look in the first place.

Powerlines are not invisible you know, you sure can see them and in DCS they are pretty good right now. You can see them till up to 1-2km at most and then no more... this is not too bad I think. The only thing I think they could still improve is having more gradual from "you can see them" to "you can't see them any more"... I know, I've said it in funny way :D

I wonder if thats the way they are there. I dont understand the invisible part. Standing in the arizona desert you can see power lines and towers for MILES AND MILES AND MILES.... Never thought to look at them while I was in the air..

OK, I rather should say HARDLY visible

The Testers have complained loudly and often about these - they are not going to change - I can't remember why though.

Nate

I'm sorry, I'm not so good in Eng. L. Am I understanding your post well, if I say, that the testers like those as they are now in World?

I've been in the air many times as a passanger in a propeled glider, so I know, how they are looking from the above. So I can tell you, that the BS1 picture is looking more real that the on from World...:(

Do you see some black lines in those photos? :noexpression:

Why not make both, one for Arcade world/settings, and the other for realistic world/settings?

i5 4670 - Sabertooth Z87- GTX Titan - Dell U3011 30" - 2x8GB RAM 1800 - Samsung 840 EVO 512GB SSD - Warthog HOTAS - CH Pro pedals - TrackIR5 - Win7 64bit

EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE

No, the testers do not like them. However, it seems ED isn't going to change them.

If you are right, than that is a pity :(

RL pilots are instructed to search for the pylons, not for the lines themselves, because as I said, they are hardly visible. Trust me :music_whistling::smartass:

Perhaps new power lines transfer 1000x more power than previous ones? :D

Seriously I prefer old model...

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

+1 for the old model !

I use a "very-high-visibility" edit of the Terrain *.lua and my monitors are plastered with black lines in far distance in some areas.(and I never saw/never will in RL when looking from above)

Things I never saw in BS1.

just move it from a Black to a greenish-dark-gray tone ( exact tone depends of the colour-palette of the map), or like I said: revet it back to BS1 standard.

The old model was way more realistic than this one.

You know, most of you are A10C pilots, so you dont really care that much about power lines and all this shit coz you are in like 20 thousand feet.

However, there exist small group of people - they call themselves choppers guys (for example me and Suchacz) and they care about those things. Because, when you are flying in 30 meters, looking for power lines is one of most important things what you have to do. Now, you can see the power line clearly from really big distance, not even saying that they look really really bad. In FC2/BS1 they were great, but now I have to look away from them because looking at them just makes me sad.

No, because they are far compared to the ones in the game pictures.

I use medium settings and the new ones look kind of comical to be honest. The reason is they don't get drawn very far, so you see these black lines that just suddenly stop, or appear abruptly under your nose. The old ones did the same but it wasn't as noticeable as they where not as dark or thick.

That's something to talk about. But there is a reason if they made it look like this.

I remember having a conversation with luckybob9 while we were working on fixing the draw distance of the electricity pylons, we discovered from ED that the cables were 'splines' that are hardcoded and could not be altered in the current engine.
