ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 9, 2012 ED Team Posted September 9, 2012 What about a solution to this? This bug is truely a problem, I cannot enter online it seems like it is getting worse? yes it is a game breaker, but we just have to wait for the patch, no solution works at the moment.... nebuluski Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Yes its a game breaker alright! Tried Tuesday night for an hour, but failed to login to master server. ED Team c0ff Posted September 9, 2012 ED Team Posted September 9, 2012 The crash was tracked down to a bug in 3-rd party library, which was triggered by a long list of servers. Unfortunately we can't release a patch quickly. Currently, I tweaked the master server to limit the list of servers to first 38 entries (seems to be a safe number) for a DCS version affected by the issue. Yes, it replaces everyone's crashing with some servers becoming invisible, but that's what we can do right now. Please, post, if the issue occures once again, I'll lower the limit. Thank you. TomDK Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Is this solution only for the case that the crash occurs while lohgging to the masterserver/ getting the server list or also for those who crashes between 5 and 30 minutes after departure/flight ? ED Team c0ff Posted September 11, 2012 ED Team Posted September 11, 2012 I reverted changes to the master server, because the fix does not help. Please, wait for the update to DCS World (which is currently in BETA, btw). Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
Rhinox Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 The only solution to crashes on login is to wait some time and retry. Sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't. Just wait for the patch. The question is what you have in mind with "some time"? Today I kept trying for half an hour. After that I gave up and my frustration was so strong I could build a skyskraper on it! Being myself a part-time coder, I understand it is sometimes not easy to fix bug. What I do not understand though is why ED is working on ANYTHING ELSE (concerning FC/DCS)? FC3 has been announced, and community began to celebrate. I say: to hell with FC3! *First* fix this mega-bug, *then* release anything new. Why do we have to wait till something else (DCS/LO-whatever) is released, hoping it finally fixes long-known (and sometimes trully critical) bugs? What I'm missing are pure patches, which do not bring anything new, only fix problems. But ED does not release patches (ok, one exception is that server-hacking patch), they release mostly only "upgrades". That system has two big drawbacks: 1. it takes longer to make "upgrade" than to make "patch", 2. upgrades frequently bring new bugs (because of new features)...
GGTharos Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Actually that is incorrect. They've patched their products a number of times before releasing paid for upgrades. ED Team c0ff Posted September 12, 2012 ED Team Posted September 12, 2012 1. it takes longer to make "upgrade" than to make "patch", 2. upgrades frequently bring new bugs (because of new features)... This is true. I hope we'll do better once autoupdate is in place. Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.

Boss to programmers: " Everybody stop what you are doing this instant, there's a multiplayer bug" Not realistic at all. Should the graphics guy go help him? How about the other guy who is working on flight models? No, because that's not their job and probably very little idea of what the network coding guys are doing.... The whole team doesn't stop because there is 1 bug we would never anything new because nothing would ever get done. I'm sure there are literally dozens of bugs some of which we have no clue about. ED has put out hotfixes in the past but sometimes not everything can be hotfixed because it requires major rework. Honestly multiplayer is probably lower on their list priority because according to research they have done in the past MOST people that buy their games don't even go on multiplayer. Just be patient they will get it sorted. Rhinox Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Boss to programmers: " Everybody stop what you are doing this instant, there's a multiplayer bug" As I wrote, I'm coding myself and international company I work for (~medium size, about 10.000 employees) sells expensive software (and hardware) for customers around the world. You can never completely avoid bugs, and it happened, happens and will happen to us too. But *if* there were a critical bug in our SW (because of which SW is unusable) and instead of fixing it we publicly announce a new/updated product instead, our management would be bombed with threats of legal actions. That's the way it is. If you have dissatisfied customers, you have to show them you *do* take care of their complaints very seriously, make them believe in this moment there is nothing more important for you than their satisfaction and assure them you are well aware of the problem and working on in on 24/7 basis, with all resources available. Be it true or not. Otherwise you'd be out of business pretty soon... BTW, sometimes it happens exactly as you wrote. And sometimes even worse (i.e. "you fix this bug till the end of week or you can start looking for new job")...
GGTharos Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 But *if* there were a critical bug in our SW (because of which SW is unusable) and instead of fixing it we publicly announce a new/updated product instead, our management would be bombed with threats of legal actions. Typically large software companies have support contracts with specific customers which cover this sort of thing ... it's somewhat misleading to leave this sort of information out. TomDK Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 ED does not program simulations to make a small community of online-nerds happy. They try to make money with the software, pay the rent for the flat and some foot, send the kids to a college and so on. Its better and easier to sell the programm to thousands of normal user which use only singleplayer, detect that the sim is too complicated and throw it away. This folks payed also 40 bucks and they never hear from them ... The onlinegamers love the product, understand it and want to use it in all details ... but its only a hand full compared to the thousands just taking a brief look. So a patch will not bring money, only stop some rumors and bad posts in the forums. A new add-on, a new sim .. thats what brings the money. I accept this, trying everyday MP until it crasehes and fly some singleuser missions. There is also a way to fly multiplayer over a "lan emulator over internet" ... we will try this next days. Maybe this is a solutuion for virtual wings. Cheers Tom My old, sold, pit: http://bilder.einzelart.de/thumbnails.php?album=74&page=3
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 14, 2012 ED Team Posted September 14, 2012 Those online nerds promote the sim, create a community based on ED's products The anger at the moment about the multiplayer issues is justified, but we all carry on faithful as we love this sim. edit and single player mission are not challenging enough for some of us Forum rules - DCS Crashing? HiJack Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 ..fly multiplayer over a "lan emulator over internet" ... we will try this next days. Maybe this is a solutuion for virtual wings. Using Hamachi? Will be waiting for your view on that!
PeterP Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) here is one of my stupid-naive ideas again: How about renaming this thread and changing the "!" into a "?" ? ... I made a goggle search for a multilayer fix and ended almost every time in this thread. And I just think about all the others that have high hopes and test this various suggestions in this thread... ...and don't see/over-read the replies from c0ff that there is no problem at the user-end and no way to fix it up to now. (BTW: I spend about 2 hours to change every thinkable setting of my router and again about 3 hours testing the different suggestions in this thread just to find out that this is absolute useless spend time...=I was really angry!) Question: Why can't ED simply make a notice at the news-page and/or the DCS-World news-ticker that the MP function is partly broken now in 1.2.0 and that they are aware of it and working on a fix? I Think something like this would be the right way and prevent a lot of people to waste their time - and also lower the frustration. ...and it will maybe also stop that there is every 5 hours a new thread opened about the same issue. ED, please act , instead of react. Edited September 14, 2012 by PeterP
whiggy Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 The solution is: Update the nvidia inspector to the latest version.
TomDK Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 @whiggy: I use a ATI card ... :) @HiJack: Yes, we used Hamachi and it worked great with the old version. We flew last before DCSW , therefor no knowlede if it works with world. Also TARS was working fine for us. Sunday night we will try it. badger66 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 (edited) ED does not program simulations to make a small community of online-nerds happy. Cheers Tom Well , then is shouldnt be advertised as such on the box , should it ..... does that not constitute false advertising ? How would feel buying a six speed gearbox in your new car , finding out it has only 5 and told not to worry cuz the kids need sending to school . Also , your obviously not a squad member , who dedicate time to fly with each other , from all over the world , in different time zones . Waking up at all hours and staying awake so you can fly with your squadmates , because maybe you should join one and find out what its like when it all goes to pot . Think about that answer you wrote above mate .....;) Now I know ED have a fix on the way , and im optimistically happy with that , at least I know there working on it . Kuky Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 If ED have fix alreadt they should release it as Hot Fix! same as they did with DCS World Training Video Hot Fix You can't leave this like this, if FC3 comes out and I get it and I find that MP is still messed up I swear I will stop buying any more ED releasees PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
TomDK Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Badger .... maybe you are right, too bad that you are not an softwaredeveloper at ED with your opinion .... I am just guessing the reason why we are waiting so long for an working multiplayer. Same is with some folks running win 32bit ... they have problems to install the game out of the box ..... This is only my opinion on the topic .... btw I am also an online-nerd. For good I didnt try it the last 3 days, I would be pissed like the whole weeks before.
