I don't have to try to make educated opinion about something, right? Like, I never tried to plug myself into 220V circuit to check if it really kills :)

Well, it doesn't... just don't hold on for too long :D

For the drinking issue: you can't really call it a home cockpit if you don't have a Camelbak strapped to the back of your seat holding whatever beverage you prefer while flying online with friends! ;)

There is a big difference between the rift and a desktop monitor! It is guaranteed to be game changer for Eagle and the Dcs series...

I don't fly without it, even in the current state.

Great news about funding, but what surprises me that on one hand they talk about PS4 and XB1 being limited hardware for Oculus Rift, and on the other hand they want to support Android devices.

I believe MS is looking into adding support to the Xbox One.

Some good information here. Positional tracking looks to be a definite also ;)

That would be hilarious - it would highlight the new console generation's lack of hardware potency like nothing else... Stereo 3D in 60fps with VSync is the bare minimum. There is no way they can deliver this with their most prominent titles given that said titles rarely exceed the 30fps mark rendered on a single screen. Without AA or VSync.

And once again the glorious PC gaming masterrace will stand victorious. :music_whistling:

It's gonna be stunning. Just hope I can get it before end of next year. My bet is release announcements at E3

Is there any way to compensate for large IPD (mine's 72mm) and accomodate far sighted vision (+1.5) at the same time?

Not yet, but Palmer Luckey himself said that on the consumer model, adjustable IPD is a must. And adjusting for near- or farsightedness is already possible in the dev kit via exchangeable lenses.

I'll be very surprised if this is supported quickly by ED as no doubt trackir will be putting massive pressure on them not to, or trying to claim it infringes on their patents. Same as any other headtracking solution that threatens their bottom line.

Why talk about TiR. Oculus headtrack is completely different tech. And prepare to be very suprised..

IPD is adjustable now not sure what it goes up to but mines is 68 I think.

the exchangeable lenses are a good idea but i find it easier to wear my glasses in the rift. as i have odd eyes.

loving the immersion not just in DCS but in FSX aswell.

TIR? ...i owned all the TIR so far (currently on TiR5) .. after you try the OR tracking you'll figure how bad (and limitate) the TIR it is, even with the OR drift. They survived until today only because none stepped in this niche market, the optical solution they are using has no future... damn even the razer hydra works TONS better than the trackir!

I totally agree, and that's exactly why trackir puts so much pressure on developers and makes spurious legal threats to competitors ... Because their product can't compete on a level playing field.

That doesn't change that ED have caved to trackir before, which is why I think they will again without huge community pressure to support OR

i would like to think that this is compatible in gaming terms with DCS.. like if we imagine our oculus on our heads-eyes, our hands on HOTS throttle and stick..and since in DCS simulated plane like A-10 and hopefully others a mouse that is in front of the desk and you grab it and as you move your head in the plane you can find the panel or whatever you are looking for and use the move for the button-pressing in the cockpit.. i don't know how "easy" it would be to find a mouse in front of your computer, myself i think it shouldn't be too hard, its like, right there in front of you.. and to a degree it simulates real life.. you have to use left hand or right hand to press a button thus removing your hand from the stick or throttle.. only problem is you won't see the mouse in real life but will have to blind-search it and use it..

all in all, i think oculus will be a blast..

Care to elaborate on that? First time I am hearing of this, claims that OR would infringe on TIR copyrights also sound very absurd.

You could always try and use something like leap motion.
