Windiws dinging sound with HOTAS Button use since update

This may be coinsidental, I dont know, but since I got the 1.2.2 update yesterday, when Im in the sim and using my Cougar HOTAS, I get that ding.wav sound when I use my throttle buttons like slewing the tad and speed brakes etc. Its really freakin annoying. Never had this problem before. Obviously the HOTAs is emulating the keyboard, but Ive changed nothing else to create this problem, just did the update and had to bring Peter P's files back to Prog/Eagle Dynamics/DCSWorld back after the update so my touchscreen would work with Helios. Anythoughts would be appreciated.

Alt+Tab to desktop and back solved the problem for me.

Usually when you get that it's because you overflowed the keyboard buffer. Used to get that on my X-52 if i didn't do a macro right. Hotas profile is suspect.

Thanks for the tips,,, I havnt changed my HOTAS profile in a couple years, nor did I ever have to ALT-TAB out then go back in,,, but I will try that and see,, thanks

Check in the options and see if " disable aero interface" is selected, if it is uncheck it, may help in not having to alt-tab out and back in.

My "disable aero interface" is unticked, as it has been. Well, Im relieved a bit finding out I am not the only one who has this issue since the update, I was about to embark on those hours and hours of scratching my head thinking it was my PC,,,Thanks for saving me the time Mule.

This happens if you are not running full screen. Sometimes you may have a program open in the background and DCS is not the focus, even if you have helios and what not displaying all over your screens.

 

Simply alt-tab back to the game to regain DCS as the focus, and it shouldn't be an issue.

 

Otherwise use full-screen or make sure you click on the start when the game loads as this will make sure you have DCS as the focus from clicking it.

Quirk, I certainly appreciate your input, but just to clarify, I have changed nothing before or after the 1.2.2 was updated a couple days ago. I am still not running in full screen because I am using Helios. I have not changed any procedures or option settings or running any applications in the background that I wasnt running before the update. Although I am thankfull that the resolve to this is to ALT TAB out then go back in to eliminate this annoyance, its just a step I did not have to do prior to the update.

Unless you are using multiple monitors. Ticking "Full screen" when using multiple monitors causes my DCS to crash. Watch out for that.

Also have the issue explained here, never had it before. Not sure if it's 1.2.2 or FC3-related.

 

ALT-TAB does indeed solve the problem, I play in windowed mode

mjeh, I do not have FC3, so I would suspect its only the update that created this issue we are having.

 

Again, I am not running full screen because I am using multi monitors for Helios, I have never changed that

I had it and found that a pop-up (program upadate) was switching me off of full screen mode into windowed mode. I went into msconfig and deactivated all autoupdate entries and the problem cleared.

I've had this issue with previous versions of DCS:World and the standalone versions before that. So that seems to eliminate the possibility that it is a 1.2.2 issue.

 

Also, try SoftTH if you have more than one monitor and you want to run full screen: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71710 Works perfectly for me and you can solve all the stretching issues with it and some additional lua editing.

It strikes me odd that this was never a problem until I updated, as soon as I got the update and went in to fly, thats when this occured. I know Im steering towards the update but for me, its the only thing that changed it instantly after I copied my export files back for Helios. As far as full screen mode,, that is not changing on me at random etc. As far as SoftTH, Ive heard the mention, but no idea what its for, and to be honest, I have spent so much time and medication setting up Helios to work right, I have no desire to screw with anything else for a couple of months.
