jmod Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The latest 4HD Flight Simulator from Boeing: ED, please bring this fidelity to my PC! :D Let's fly together for the sake of peace :)
Speed Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) The latest 4HD Flight Simulator from Boeing: ED, please bring this fidelity to my PC! :D How is an AH-64 passing the simulated F-18 in this video like it's sitting still?! And Furthermore, look at the HUD- the F-18 is supposedly going 356 knots. So the AH-64 had to be doing 400 knots... Maybe it looks nice, but it's a really unrealistic simulator. I'll stick with Eagle Dynamics :) Edited December 20, 2012 by Speed Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. YakobeGrizzlyLepotyv Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 We can all look forward to the Nevada map and the new engine that will bring higher resolutions to the sim just in time for 4K to become a home standard next year. _________________________________________________ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Vipers 406 http://www.vipers406.com/ 62nd Fighting Falcons http://www.62ndfightingfalcons.asn.au/ Jesus is coming, Look busy.

I'll stick with Eagle Dynamics :) Hey John, i hope you don't think that was an F-18 sim, coz not only the speed was too low next to Apaches, but the touchdown on carrier deck also, moreover yaw moves were very hard and turny so i think they played a hacked sim: we saw a flyable Apache with a fighter-jet cockpit ;) Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. To be flown below the radar, to bring the enemy his fate. HAVE A BANDIT DAY ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "When I'm working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. Vekkinho Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I've seen better homemade cockpits... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

While flying formation with the Apaches, the airspeed indicator clearly reads 356 knots. It never changes. Also, there are some radar contacts that never move. The heading and clock on the HSI, or whatever that display is, never moves. Just look at anything in the cockpit- it's frozen. Not a very good advertisement for your product, Boeing :D Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. metalnwood Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 It looked pretty smooth for a high resolution system. I guess some of the guys leaving comments need to understand that an extremely high resolution system recorded on a camera with a fraction of that resolution uploaded and encoded by youtube will not look as good as their game on their pc. Wonder how many pc's are required to drive it..
HungaroJET Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Not a very good advertisement for your product, Boeing :D Yep  you know if it's an F-18 sim then the Flight Model is a real crap :pain: :D Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. aaron886 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Holy crap everyone, relax. Is it really that strange to see someone flying a helicopter in a simulator with a cockpit that doesn't match?

Moa Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) With regard to the number of computers required to drive it. I read somewhere that the Australian DSTO developed a full-fidelity F/A-18 simulator and 33 Linux computers/cores were required to run it. I guess plenty of horsepower goes to radars and signals and stuff. BHawthorne Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Taking bets they're probably just running Prepar3d and multi-projector Eyefinity spanning.
