Then can we have two maps please? The old one and the new one? Make a patch with the old map and give the player the hability to select which one wants to use in a given mission.

Nope, I guess not. Because they would need to "redo" the whole Crimea with the new EDM object modelling... and you will get a flame war from hell, if you made ED divert any ressources from the Nevada/EDGE development, which would delay it even further. :D

You may want to think about buying LockOn and "Flaming Cliffs"... at least you get to fly "Crimean scenarios"... though it wouldn't be very sensitive at the moment!!! A little fiction: What if France and Spain where at the brink of war and we would like to play it out? The region where your parents just died. And I would fly the french bombers who did it?!:huh:

I'm requesting a old map made available again, not talking about politics, after all following your idea we can't play over Crimea, but yes over Georgia? There was a war there in 2008. Is really sad how after all those years we are losing map content.

Why when ED changed from LOMAC to FC2 did they drop the Crimea from the world ..... sad the did that now .

Not sure if you read the previous posts but to put it short: it takes both technical capabilities and working hours to do it.

 

Currently working hours at ED are being used to improve technical capabilities (EDGE) so it would be better to finish that first, right?

After that the working-hours to support new areas would not be wasted as increasing area would be simpler -> better product, more content, faster updates?

Ok, to put it even more straight: to get Crimea back it needs to be rebuilt with EDM models from DCS.

It is not "getting it back" more making a new one.

When ED starts that it will take months, maybe longer.

The result would be a map of Caucasus and Crimea without Georgia for technical limitations.

In addition we will see Nevada even later... so how likely do you think this is to happen?

 

But feel free to ask, again. I simply tried to explain why the request is doomed, in my oppinion.

Area is still there. The Crimean Peninsula west of Anapa... what is missing, is the elevation data, roads, railroads and towns, as well as trees and rivers.

Crimea in DCS isn't actually flat, at least not all of it. I started making a mission there in the hills near the Black Sea coast a while ago.

It's not much different to what was in LOMAC. I've never played FC1. Some of the airbases were nice though, and there were a few unique buildings.

I have LOMAC installed on my Win 7 machines. Seems to work, but all I've really ever done since FC2 is fly around and look at the map.

Recent events prove a Crimean / Black Sea map to be as potent as ever. Would love to see EDGE showcase this. The only other map that could contend would be the Middle-East.

I'm feeling Western Europe. Being able to take off from an RAF base, form up over Dover, head to the target, reform, hit a tanker if necessary, and go home. Be able to alternate at an improvised field in Denmark or something. Would be so sweet.

 

I just want a huge theater map, like in IL-2.
