TheMoose Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) General populace online servers accept it? I have an itch to get it, love tank killing, however seen this DLC getting lots of the back burner. Well sort off. Beta still... for how long? In any case, I don’t mine the beta, but what concerns me is the multiplayer servers acceptance in including it in their missions. Needless to say without MP, what’s the point? Edited February 9, 2013 by TheMoose free will Antec 900 gaming tower, PSU: Corsair 750W, Q6600, Asus P5K, 8Gig Mushkin, Nvidia eVGA 280 GTX Superclocked 1G DDR3, SSDNOW200 Kingston Drive, TrackIr 3000+Vector, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Saitek rudder pedals pro, Sharp 42" inch LCD Aquo. Arrowhead Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Multiplayer crashes frequently at the moment, and CA is still beta so some features are missing. We are all really just waiting for 1.2.3. CA will be worth it though, I'm sure! :) 1 Intel i9 12900K ROG Ryujin II Hydro Cooler PNY GeForce RTX 5090 OC EpicX 64GB RAM DDR5-6000

WildBillKelsoe Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I got it for the fact that ground AI needs to be manned. And for real ops. Imagine a scenario where 6 players control split side armor and need CAS. Ground helps with targeting aircraft too. With that said, I'm a mere stump. I want to support ED because I've bought all their modules and I think they aim for a multiplayer aspect rather than singleplayer, which is good, provided you have a good connection to back it up. I still have yet to find real ops scenarios for CA. AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
Purg Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 For me, the power is being able to direct the ground battle from your cockpit - at least for now. Instead of boring mission waypoints given to ground forces, you can direct them yourself. Have someone on the other side with CA and you've got a dynamic ground war going on underneath you. I'm eagerly awaiting 1.2.3 to see to what extent you'll be able to task allied AI flights.
Furia Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 It is surely worth. Even the users noT owning CA will enjoy its features when they participate in a battle that instead dumb AI, the have their own forces and the enemy forces conteolled by hummans and a human Jtac ask them to deliver ordnance on target or to provide a CAP. I personally enjoy playing GFC or JTAC. [sIGPIC]http://menorca.infotelecom.es/~raulurbina/ESA/banner_furia.png[/sIGPIC]
Justin Case Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I haven't cared much for surface combat in DCS yet but directing your airborne friends towards a targets great fun! http://www.masterarms.se A Swedish Combat Flight Simulator Community.
B25Mitch Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I've found that CA makes a huge difference to online play, especially in head-to-head matches. There's no-one in the game who has more power to change the course of the battle than the ground forces commander, but without air support you will almost certainly lose. So it's a great way to learn coordination with your team mates, and it makes the pilots feel that their job is more important when they know they're clearing the way for ground units controlled by another player. CA also helps prevent missions from degenerating into A2A skirmishes by ensuring the ground units are active and moving towards the mission goal. A good CA player can keep the whole army moving towards its objective so fast that it is hard to defend against without being overrun.
TheMoose Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 Thanks Mustang. Impressive video and thank you all for your comments. mwd2 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 CA is a lot of fun, if you have TvT-MP missions. You can have Fighters, to control the air space, A-10C, Su-25T and Ka-50 for attacking ground troops and ground units to attack and capture points on the map.
