Just being able to do that would make it worth buying.

Most of the missions have the airfields set to "neutral" since 1.2.3, so mission designers need to update that.

You can check and fix that yourself. In the Mission Editor.

Click on the Airfield (may require some clicks). Set COALITION to "BLUE" or "RED".

IMPORTANT: Stock missions need to be "saved as" into your user profile's mission folder, after edit!

yeah, and a Harrier/AV-8B

by the way able to reverse the Tornado ? (not only slowing down by reverse but roll backward)

to wish list: a radio (key) command should be great for open/close doors of the nearest empty hangar

OR a push back if you bugger up..

I don't think the Tonka has a reverse gear...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

It's got reverse thrust but I doubt it would be powerful enough to move it from standing.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Never saw evidence of Tornados being able to "reverse", but I don't know whether they were able to do so but didn't for some reason.

They did have Thrust Reverses though. (If I recall correctly, Tornado and Viggen are the only two afterburner-equipped jets with reversers.) Just not sure whether they were able to actually reverse or if this was limited simply to a breaking mechanism.

Yeah, so does (well, did) the Viggen.

The question is whether the reason why we don't see Tornados do this same "stunt" that they just opted not to do so (for whatever reason), or that they genuinely do not have the capability.

Seems to me any aircraft that can produce a net reverse thrust should be able to do this, just a question of whether there's a risk of breaking stuff when doing it from a standstill. (For example, if I recall correctly, the Tornado reverses sends the exhause over and under the jet, whereas Viggen sends it to the sides; perhaps the Tornado configuration causes too much "re-ingestion" of hot air when on standstill and this is why i "cannot" do it?)

The problem with Tornado Reverse Thrust, is at low speeds the engine re-ingests its own exhaust and any debris that comes out the back end. If its functionally tested on the ground it's only for very short periods and I think it's prohibited to be used by the aircrew below a certain speed. So it can perform the same 'stunt' as the Viggen, but wouldn't be a good idea!!

ah good to know - AFAICR in Digital Integration Tornado Sim we could destroy engines with thrust reversers if we pushed afterburner while slowing down and if we did not release reversers before the aircraft stopped on runway

Yes and no.

Yes it will roll you back

No you will fall on your tail coming to a halt.

Your call on weather its yes or no then.
