Aaaggghhhh, talk about timing, with the Huey just round the corner and some great uk airfields to explore thanks to orbx in FSX. My newish PC has decided to throw its teddies out of the pram and crash and burn.

Was flying a multiplayer mission in DCS last night, just coming into the hover with my Blackshark and bang. BSOD, now the darn thing freezes on boot up into windows. It won't get past the logo screen. :(

Of course it had to happen at the end of my 3 days off, so I'm now back at work, and can't even spend time trying to solve the issue.

I know there's nothing anyone can do, but just have to rant and get it out of my system.

Had a similar thing happen to me couple weeks ago.

PC would power on but nothing would happen, not even the BIOS came up.

Turned out the connector of one of my HDD's was lose.

So i'd say open up the case and make sure all connectors are properly seated.

(feel that they are, mine looked as if it was still connected but was not)

Load the fail-safe defaults in the BIOS and see if that helps.

^^ This ^^ wont help much...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Yep SSD drive as the boot up. Just got home from work. Time for a coffee, then lets take this thing apart and work through everything, and I stupidly thought I would be flying this afternoon. :(

Ok, I've no idea what's going on, but not only is it now switching on, DCS seems to be running smoother.

Maybe it just overheated, last night. But damned if I know. All I know is it blue screened then wouldn't boot up.

Ah well, it's works now. Till the next crash that is. ;)

You can always use an external fan to help cool your computer. I put one of my old computers that used to overheat all the time on top of a box fan, and it helped improve fps and reduced crashes. (It was about 3 times as noisy though)

Clean up your case and put some good quality TC. You won't be happy if it does afterwards.

Well I already have 10 fans in the thing, so thought that should be enough, not counting the massive heat sink on the processor, which has 2 fans alone. I'm gonna keep an eye on it, and if it happens again then ill do a full strip down.

SSD does the BSOD sometimes. i fix it like this: turn off PSU, disconnect all harddrives, leave just 1 HDD (not SSD) with WIN installed, PSU on, reboot, shut down, PSU off, connect all drives (SSD included) back in, PSU on, start normally. no need to adjust bios at any time while fixing. yes it sounds like weird solution, yes it requires to open the case, but it's still better then reinstalling WIN. also, without disconnection and reconnection of SSD it can't be recognized by bios. works for me lol. if i manage to notice the freeze of the system before BSOD, then hard power off (button/power cable, first available lol), reboot normal, no problem )))

Cowboy, install and run Core-Temp in the backround. It's a wee application that monitors and displays individual core temps, loads, minimum and maximum temps. Convenient to have, especially on a second monitor.

Another option, is to update the SSD firmware and ensure in the BIOS settings that the port is set to Hot-Swap. Also that you are running it in AHCI mode.

A lot if the time the BSOD with SSD is caused by firmware and BIOS rev.

Very rarely will you have heat issues with SSDs. A lot of builds I've seen have people hiding them on the back side of the motherboard tray. Talk about no airflow there...

Dirty Power, can cause PC to blue screen by choking the PSU, which drops the voltages on the CPU, RAM or HDDs.

usually takes about 24 hours to filter it out of the System by leaving it off, and sometimes unplugged.

happens when people all start using their AC Units, it degrades the power some.

Happens when something severe happens (like a vehicle taking out a pole or a substation having a power distribution problem)

PSU would try to filter out the noise, but most of the time it causes voltage drops across the board (CPU, Ram, 5v, 12v, everything).

My Battery backup unit trips numerous times a day here for voltage dropping below normal levels.
