Since 1.2.5 + hotfix the 51st server has been crashing much more than usual.

Also the server FPS drops a lot faster than normal.

 

Always the same crash logs.

On top of what Frostie has mentioned, stutters when players join/leave the server are much worse. On a busy server, the game is unplayable.

 

Edit:

 

Every time a player joins a slot... i.e. spawns in the world. The server frame rate drops by ~50% also there is a server time dilation, server time slows significantly for 3-5 seconds. On top of this, with Render3d set to False, staying on the Map screen lowers FPS, while switching to a random airfield boosts the FPS.

 

And even more... Having DCS window lose focus boosts the FPS. For example we have DCS World in Windowed mode and we are focused on it... FPS = ~16. We open an explorer window and focus on it... DCS FPS jumps to our cap of 32.

Aside:

 

I have to say Mustang, it is getting extremely annoying having patches released with absolutely pathetic changelogs. We have no idea what changed, and where. We all spend hours trying to keep this game playable, not only for ourselves but for the community at large, and yet every time there is a patch we have to spend countless hours tweaking settings AGAIN because we have no clue what changed where... or we have to compare file by file to see what changed. It is borderline insulting.

I have to agree with most of what Sov13t has written.

 

1. Freezes seem to be worse, especialy with players taking slots and entering/exiting 3d.

2. ground dust is now unbearable, FPS drops drasticly. therefore, if any number of helicopter or planes fly low at same area and get ground dust up, the FPS drops to around 0, unplayable in MP.

 

As Sov13t mentioned, the constant need to debug issues ourselfs because we don't get complete changelogs is very hard, I for one spent hours trying to figure out why almost all my missions stopped working after 1.25, I figured there was an issue with the group activation, while checking I found other bugs which I reported -

It would be helpful to us (the server admins) and eventually to the whole community, as we are running open and free servers for the community, if we could get a complete changelog list, or maybe be in the loop of MP known issues, that will help immensly.

Agreed these stutters are annoying to say the least especially when flying the Huey and you are trying to land and you are already on the edge of going into VRS get any amount of stutter there and is balls of fire landings.

Eagles may soar high but weasel's don't get sucked into jet engines.

Today the first time i joined a server i did got a CTD before even entering the runway. Log said "mem access voilation" something, but i did not have my 9 GB swapfile active at that point which i often don't. I activated it and did a flight for 1.5 hour in air and did not have any kind of hickups. This server was not loaded with players though. Allthough the first flight with the CTD was. Both had good pings (32). Last flight system mem use was stable at around 4 GB all along. Have any one of you tried the Norwegian server or is ping to bad? It has a updated 1.2.5 mission.

Since 1.2.5 + hotfix the 51st server has been crashing much more than usual.

Also the server FPS drops a lot faster than normal.

its not just you guys, every server i've played on crashes randomly, seems like once your servers player count gets to a point its more likely to crash. Was just on 104th with 6-7 players including myself and it crashed. Since the hotfix I haven't played a server populated or not that hasn't randomly crashed.

We've also had numorous crashs with the DCS Israel server.

After doing several checks it seems that when I removed the CA ability, the mission didn't crash.

 

I don't have the time to sit and start doing tests what exactly in the CA triggers the crashs but I'm guessing that the new version 1.2.5 patch2 has trouble with multiple moving ground units, seems like the limit just went down.

One of the mission we used to play with around 20 players that worked nicely, now has lag with that many players and eventually crashs.

 

Anyone got news on the dedicated server?

This is getting more and more necessary, we have great response to DCS in our community and we also do collaberations with other communities but the sim can't handle that many players or wide number of moving objects.

I beleive this issue will eventually be a big turn down for many players as these crashs are big immersion killers.

It was stated that the dedi server app will be done not before EDGE is released.

Anyway you are right DCS needs it very urgently.

I haven't played 1.2.5 really much but I have to restart very often one of our servers due to the many crashes.

Regardng stability 1.2.4 was very promising but now it seems still not competitive enough...

After an one year break since an update introduced the "connection interrupted" bug in multiplayer i tried today again the multiplayer with the current version of DCS World (1.2.5.16184).

Very disappointing, first try i got after 2 minutes "connection interrupted" ... on the second try after 3 minutes... very sad, looks like my HOTAS Warthog will be still withdrawn from service because the mutliplayer is still broken.

 

Is this a familiar bug? looks like many other people on the server dont have this issue? so why i have it??? Connection from germany to a german server cant be the problem! Never have issues with other online games.

My WWII server crashes a bunch as well. I was wondering if it was my hardware but after reading this it might not be.

 

Xcom, are you seeing definite results by disabling the CA units? To dis-allow this do you just make sure to un-check the player drivable option?

Start DCS-MP -> options -> connection bandwith set to LAN

My Hollo Pointe server is showing Can't Connect To Master errors when I check it in the mornings. It has been stable while I am in it, and throughout the SimHQ Fly-In last week. I don't know if these disconnects are all occurring when clients are not joined, or if they happen when someone is in it.

 

This is happening on different missions. I suggested that DCS compare their Master server log with mine to see if there is a hint of the issue on their end.

A few others have posted similar issues in the DCS World Bugs, Multiplayer forum. These errors came with v125. Render3D = False.

What I did is set everything to 0 in the CA option in the Mission Editor and to allow players in aircraft to control ground units.

As of this moment, the mission I checked is working much better, around 2 hours with no crash.

Before, it would crash after around 30 minutes, I think it's a definit change.

I've remade the VA mission with nothing but the aircraft, no ground units bar ships, no scripts, no triggers, no race course.

 

Mission still crashed over night :/

Hmm, Pman, did you disable the CA slots?

Although there are no ground vehicles, there still might be something with leaving CA available.

 

On a different note, I also noticed bad FPS on this release, whenever there is ground warfare either the explosions or the dust effect make huge FPS loss, I'm talking on going down to around 5-10 FPS, even if the warfare is behind a mountain or a hill, it seems that it is still rendered and FPS drops.

This could also be an issue that projects on network stability.

 

My server is now up for more than 12 hours, at least 6 hour mission cycle, I'm guessing that disabling the CA fixes the issue, I disabled it on all of the missions that are in the cycle, looks good so far.

Hey Mate,

 

I have the Jtac etc set to zero, is this the setting you mean? Pilot can control vehicles is off, and all the commanders set to zero

Well I have tried a couple of things and nothing has made much difference, our mission is as basic as basic gets.

 

Ed screwed the pooch on this one.

 

Sorry guys, I know you do alot of good work. But you screwed something up royally here.
