apollomaker Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Hello All --- Just got my Huey and have been trying to find a simple start-up guide for start up from dark and cold state. I have been able to figure out how to get the turbine started, but cannot engage the rotor for some reason??? I know it is probably something simple but a clean start up write-up would be perfect for this UH-1 beginner. Any pointer to a procedure much appreciated -- Thanks --- Bob :D Edited May 6, 2013 by apollomaker [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sim Box: Asus Maximus, Intel 4790 CPU @ 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX-790 + 5GB VRAM, Win7-64, 1 KW supply
CptTangerine Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 You should just need to apply a small amount of throttle - Page Up once or twice then hold Home until the starter gets the engine rpm up to about 30%. Once you've got that far the rotors should be spinning merrily and you can release Home. After that just increase RPM (throttle) until it's in the green band. joey45 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Try the training missions. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Yurgon Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Any pointer to a procedure much appreciated You could also try the in-game training: Training -> UH-1H -> Aircraft operation -> Cold start procedure. So far, that's my no.1 resource, but the printed checklists will be worth being checked out as well. Edit: Sniped. :)
shagrat Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 There is a Quick-Start guide in the docs folder for the Huey Module. Just the procedure for Starting the engines with nifty pictures. C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS\Mods\Aircraft\Huey(?)\Docs In the same folder should be the Manual, which includes a complete checklist...:D Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

apollomaker Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Thank You All Howdy All and again, thanks for the help and pointers. Not difficult to tell just how green I am on the UH-1 and where the resources are but now there is hope ;) I did manage to hack my way through some info and get the Huey started and the rotor up to operating speed. Now the challenge is trimming and general flight to start out. I will be jumping into the lessons and other info to get this part of the learning moving. Thanks again to all for your patience and kind inputs --- Bob :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sim Box: Asus Maximus, Intel 4790 CPU @ 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX-790 + 5GB VRAM, Win7-64, 1 KW supply
