Hi

Loving the sim so far BTW, a few more hours of hover practice and I'll have it ;-)

Anyway, When using the copilot flexi sight, how can I unbind the trackIR control over it ? I want to use the ,/;. keys on my stick hat but can't get them to override track IR or mouse control

:helpsmilie:

My Solution so far

To bind a button to pause Track IR

To switch ctl C for mouse control

Use mouse to murder and pillage.

This is cool but, I'd like to try it with the hat switch, might be more stable.

within the track IR profile there is a keybinding for pause, perhaps this will then allow the in game keybindings to work as you require. I havent played with the flexi sight yet but i've always used the pause function of track IR to stop my viewpoint from wandering when trying to click small switches in any cockpit

For me with Track IR works great!

When Im co pilot:

- turn on the Sight

- press key for "Precision Mode" of Track IR (slow movement)

- zoom max

- FIRE!

- feel like Roy Scheider in Blue Thunder :D

Works perfect! Dont need more.

I hate to say this but I think TrackIR is outdated. I think something like connect from Microsoft (for PC) would be much better. To tell the truth I hate that thing coming off the side of my headset, I hate the wire (wireless would do a lot to improve TrackIR), and I hate the fact the Track Clip Pro (the one with the LEDs) breaks if you even look at it wrong. I hate that it loses sight of the LEDs when I turn my head.

Check these out. Let’s move on to this. Or at least make a push for TrackIR to go wireless.

You will notice some have slight lag some do not. I think with a fairly new PC it should be a smooth experience.

TrackIR has been the only real game in town for a long time. The fact the Track Click Pro is such a piece or crap and TrackIR has done nothing to fix it shows they are getting a bit complacent. I think it is time they had some competition.

On the odd occasion i use a door gunner I just pause the TrackIR and use the mouse. I usually start by having the doors open prior to needing door guns that way it saves time in getting the weapon ready to fire. Then i center the view and "zero" the zoom/view with the touch of two joystick buttons. Pause the TrackIR and then use the mouse for aiming and firing. And as of late I have almost completely stopped using the flex-sight in favor of staying in the pilot seat because I have gotten to accustomed to the forward view.

As for the really crappy track clip pro(I'm convinced the pro refers to problematic) I'm usually on TS3 when gaming so wearing my headset has become second nature. what I did was after bumping it a few times was to put it on get it in a good position where it worked well then applied household silicone(of the bath and sink sealer variety) to all the joints and weak points. It stops it from falling apart and still allows for a bit of "give" when you knock it. A touch with some 200 grade sand paper on the the larger areas helps the silicone stick better. So it's like a nice protective rubber coating. However I have been considering "modding" the design with batteries and attaching it to an "Alice band"(girls hair thingy) which can then sit on top of your head instead of on the side where it can be a bit annoying. I have found that regardless of the position of the led arm it still does what it's supposed to.

But I highly recommend the silicone "adjustment" on what is otherwise a pitiful design flaw considering the cost.

If it was cheap it would be ok but its not. The monitor clip shits me. Monopolies are never good.

Rift will make it it all better.

I slighly modded the track IR clip for my hat, and have been using it for years with my track IR3 PRO VE without any trouble at all.

you guys wanna see the mod ? its very easy. just made a few adjustments so it can be seen at extreme degrees of rotation

Thanks for replies guys. I'm using precision track ir mode these days, getting used to it. Would be good to seperate gunner control from the view axis though or a check box option somewhere

I'd like to see the mod. I use the clip (REFUSE to do the other thing with wires).

It's your own fault if you bought the Pro Clip while the legacy hat-thing would be more convenient for you.

It's my fault? What makes you think the "legacy hat-thing" as you so eloquently put it (by the way it’s called a Track Clip) would be more convenient for me? I happen to find wearing hats very uncomfortable. I think 90% of the people on this forum will agree the Track Clip Pro is a very low quality product. The software and camera are great. My only issue is with the clip. I understand they have a want and need to keep it lightweight however; they have not tried to remedy the design flaws in it either. I also do not like having a wire running from my head to my PC. In my opinion if TrackIR would make their product a bit tougher and wireless I would not feel a need to look elsewhere.

I also cannot understand why some headsets do not have "built in" LEDs for use with head tracking software. Gaming headsets should have these built in. A wireless headset with built in LEDs would solve all these problems.

Another great option (at least for me) would be my USB microphone with MS Kinect head tracking. That way I would not have to have anything on my head at all.

Let's cut the wire.

Quicksilver raises some valid points about the shortcomings of TiR.

There seems to be little development on their side to improve the hardware and there have been numerous complaints about the clips poor construction.

TiR responded to my complaints about it with a like, we know, and that was it.

I dont like using trackIR for the flexi sight or the door gunners.

I would rather have a fixed sight position on the flexi sight and gunners which would be movable with the mouse / hat switch.

I hope it can be changed for final release

Just like to bring us back on topic a bit ( but I was chuckling when I read about all the ghetto track ir mods because mine is held together with gaffer tape and super glue ! )

Has any one with track ir ( or other wise ) managed to bind the flexible site or door gunner site to a hat switch ?
