Would it be possible to make this again but at a time where european people like me can join ? Just like 3 or 4 hours later or sooner would do. Just so we don't start snorring on teamspeak ;) Thanks for offering your time to help us in this awesome sim!

I thought I was an expert in acronymology but this one has me baffled. :D

Sorry, I wrote something long but it did nothing to advance the actual topic. So while I was editing it my wife started yelling at me because I was ignoring our daughter (we were at lunch) so I just blasted some letters and moved on. My original post was basically along the lines of "some crew chiefs know a lot more than you would imagine, and some don't...who are we to judge without any evidence one way or the other."

So.. what you're saying is that his military experience directly contributed to the class? How is this any different than any other youtube tutorial on any of the systems (Besides the fact that he touches the relevant aircraft on a regular basis)? I stayed in a motel 6 last night.. doesn't mean I'm ready to manage a hotel chain.

I get what Robert1983NL's saying.. A crew chief only has a basic knowledge of the systems enough to get what he/she needs to get his job done. He has a good knowledge of the mechanics of the aircraft. Beyond that, he's just reading T/O's and the pilot manual like all of us are. He's not going to be intimately familiar with how to set up a bombing run because he's not the one in the cockpit or attended the A-10 pilots qualification school. An electrician is going to have good knowledge of the electronics, but isn't going to know the ins and outs of the avionics.

Thank you, thank you.

At last, someone with brains and not a submissive attitude. You make sense!

Ah, no you don't and yes Crew Chiefs are god like. Have you ever been one? Have you ever even touched a Hawg or seen one up close?

Ummmm.. Yes I do lol.

I'm not a crew chief, never been. I'm an active military pilot. Have seen and touched an A10 up close lol. So what?

trying to be open minded and not actively trying to put on blinders ... makes ppl brainless?

Yeah ...

In my days in a german fighter bomber wing, the crewchief was the guy who decided if a pilot flys or not. Just drop a pen or somethink while seatening the pilot and his flight is ... gone ;)

2 friends, both good virtual A-10 pilots, have been on Spangdahlem airbase 2 years ago and spoke to the pilots "guarding" the A-10s and fired massive questions .. and many are still unanswered due the pilots didnt know any switch of their aircraft. So pilots are also no gods ....

Little more respect, please. :)

This guy is not god, but he is a very fine gentleman to offer this lessons.

If you dont want, dont join. I am sure that all participiants learned much

Now guess what: MOST OF US ARE NOT.

We try to grab on every piece of information. The manuals & co are a good start, but besides this theoretical approach, if someone shares RL experiences - to whatever degree or depth - it is very valuable for us.

Maybe not for you, as you are already sitting directly at the source. Fine, ignore such offers then in the future. Or better: offer a similar lecture.

Sorry if this was answered but... Did anyone record it, finally?

Appreciating his time is submissive? I think you got a huge attitude problem you should realy work on...

Really disappointing some of you. Way to show respect and appreciation to a person who's only intention is to help a community with nothing in return as payment.

Congratulations. You may have just succeeded to put off anyone else in future who was thinking of doing the same, crew chief or pilot or anyone else in the know for that matter. Shame that it only takes a small handful to totally ruin it for everyone else (think the CCIP delivery book that was released a while ago).

It's really simple. Attend the session if you think it would benefit you. Don't attend if you think it would not. If you think you know everything already then good for you. Perhaps you should hold a session or two for us noobs who aren't in the know how?

This post is a hugely depressive example of how the anonymous internet creates an environment of mistrust and defensiveness. I couldnt give a monkeys who is a real pilot and who is a technician and the imagined limits of each others experience as if the job role allowed you to know everything they knew.

Credentials neither prove or disprove the validity of a statement. Like all things in life, validate your decisions based on a multitude of cross referenced sources and always remain open minded. The irony in the post about credentials being renounced by others boasting credentials being renounced by another....really kills me. Pilots are two a penny in this place, as well as technicians.

What a bizarre thread.

Guy is a fan of the sim and wants to offer a virtual class on the basics.

Cool! Sounds great, what time is it?

Oh, and he happens to be a crew chief.

WTF WHO IS THIS GUY BURN HIM

If he never mentioned his vocation, this would likely have been a well-received event and that's it. Yet somehow his additional qualification of being a crew chief makes this not a worthwhile event?

Some of you need to get off the crazy pills.

To the OP - if you do plan to offer any further classes (and after this, who could blame you if you didn't), please give us a little more notice!

Bottom line is, that in my opinion people should stop worshipping a guy just because he checks the A10's oil levels irl and maybe kicks the tires now and then.

It's like the guy in the pit crew who's 'sole purpose in life' is to change a tire as quickly as possible on a Formula 1 car. If he'd open a topic on a racing sim forum where he'll teach all of us how to race a Formula 1 car, wouldn't you find that a little funny?

It's the same situation here. Not attacking the thread starter for his good will and everything, just saying that I find it ridiculous how some people get down on their knees so easily.

Anyway, enough fun. Let's see those videos :)

Kick tires huh...you ARE NOT any kind of mil pilot. We do a whole of a lot more than kick tire buddy. A Crew Chief can shut down the entire operation and tell you to get the f@&?k out of their airplane. I've done it twice and my squadron CC backed me up. If a jet plows a hole in the ground, the Crew Chief is guilty until proven innocent. If YOU were a true operator, you would know that the guy "kicking you tires" saves your life everytime you get in HIS airplane. If you don't know, get someone to show you.

So.. You're a crew chief, huh? A-10C's?.. How much about setting up a bomb run or operating the systems inflight do you know from an aircraft on the ground?

I did 8 years as a US Navy Aviation Boatswains Mate Handling. I dealt with all forms of Navy, Marine Corps and Army Aircraft. After my time in the US Navy, I joined the Minnesota Air National Guard and did 4 years as a Firefighter. In my time as a Crash and Rescue firefighter, I learned the ins and outs of many types of Air Force aircraft including the A-10. Certainly makes me no expert on setting up a bombing run midflight.

I agree with the fact that you can pretty much tell a pilot he's not going to fly, but you need to add that the only reason a pilot's not going to get to fly is because a careless pilot or crew chief dropped or misplaced a tool, or there was a gripe (writeup) that made the plane unsafe to fly. Don't act like you can tell a pilot that he's not flying just because you woke up with a chip on your shoulder.
