Hamblue Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Another mistake I often see is people move on to the next objective before the mission of the current one is completed. What they don't understand is that many missions will have targets hidden and only go active and appear after the current target area is cleared. The result is there are no targets to be found because they aren't there yet. Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. IonicRipper Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 One thing i found helps a LOT is to boost the contract setting quite a bit. Look for a friendly unit or any other type of hot object and adjust your contrast until your happy with the setting. i5 4590 @ 3.77GHz | GTX 1060 6GB | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 | 1TB HDD+500GB HDD | Win10 Home X64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Watari Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 You can install CA to get your JTAC much more effective. You can moce hmin on a better position for lasing your targets :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html
311Gryphon Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Zoom view is definitely not "cheating". I need zoom just to see my own cockpit. The best thing to do with that command is map it to an axis so you can zoom in really quick or at variable speeds. The rudder toe axis works really well and keeps all your HOTAS buttons free. Of course if I ever fly a real plane I will end up spinning it off the runway stepping on the right brake to look at the dash... I like the unused friction axis on the Thrustmaster Warthog. It works great and is very intuitive for zoom. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

The result is there are no targets to be found because they aren't there yet. I've had this happen a great deal in the Instant Action missions. It got confusing because the Steerpoints would advance as soon as I flew over whether the targets at the Steerpoint were killed or not. Sometimes on the "easy" Instant Actions the voice over would say something like "Great job destroying those trucks. The next target is a....." and would act like I was ready to move on. I'd go to the next target and there would be nothing there. I'm guessing a single truck or unit of some kind was still alive at the previous target area. Frustrating. http://www.youtube.com/user/311Gryphon i7-8700, 32 GB DDR4 3000, GTX 1080 TI 11GB, 240 GB SSD, 2TB HDD, Dual (sometimes Triple) monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Pro Combat Pedals, TrackIR [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Tip for you, set Steerpoints to manual on the CDU, they´ll stay until you switch one up. Func + 5 on the ICP is the Shortcut to the CDU page, if you use the CDU on the MFCD. 1 Specs: System: Asus Z170-E, I7 6700K, 16GB DDR4, Asus GTX1070 8GB, 1TB M2 SSD + 2x 250GB SSD,TrackIR, TM Warthog, Saitek Rudder Modules: A-10C, KA-50, Mi-8, UH-1H, FC3, F5E, M2000, AJS37, AV8b, F18C

Nealius Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Make sure you have DTC loaded and NAV LSK selected before switching to MAN. I found that if I do it earlier it gets reset to AUTO mid-mission.

Fly near the target area and orbit whilst setting up the attack run. Something about loitering around at 200 knots and taking my time to get ready really appeals to me. WildBillKelsoe Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 OP: here is some of the tricks I learned with A-10C, now this may sound like I'm working with ED or TFC and promoting their stuff, but I'm NOT. 1- You SHOULD get the TC-1 printed map, laminate it, and fold it into sectionals. 2- Get RWR to pickup some ground threats. That way you have a general direction to threat. 3- If the units are not escorted by SAM launchers/radars, that's IN your favour, although its not frequent. The only thing to sweat for now is MANPADs, which generally aren't effective to 12,000 ft. 4- Use zoom ALOT.. In fact, forget you have TGP. If you can look for smoke on the horizon, you got something going on there. Approach with caution, making frequent random turns for an unpredictable flight pattern. 5- Once spotted, find a buddy and send him a markpoint of the relative position. This is so easy using TAD, but you need to just count mountain tops between you and target or find out which direction from a city are they at or travelling. And please, all the wise people hopping mindlessly into multiplayer, CHANGE your net and own ID's ASAPractical or we cant send you targets because the flashing number means double entry into SADL. 6- Use common sense and read the briefing, even if its short or vague, still good to establish hot zones.... AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
