I don't see why people are getting so upset about it, I paid full price for the Mi-8 but I've hardly used it since starting a new job but I don't feel bad its now on sale because it will tempt more people to try premium content in DCS World. I've already sent the newsletter to two friends I gifted modules to in the Steam sale and maybe they will buy some more content now.

About belsimtek uncair sales policy

I am early backer of your beta products, and i am not at all happy about your sale ...I feel being tricked by paying full price..Please consider some sort of prize for us that paid full price

Seriously guys, do you go back to Futureshop or Walmart to whine because a game you bought later went on sale?

What ED/BST learned from the Huey "stunt" is they got some good sales from the initial pre-release, then exponentially more when they discounted later.

Remember you are one of many customers, so all the whining in the world won't count for much against the bottom dollar value that results from these sales.

I was happy to pay full price for the Huey on day one because I wanted it right away. I decided to wait for the Mi8 and as a result I can now take advantage of the sale. Grown-ups know that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

First off, new games -in general- don't go in to sale a couple of WEEKS after release. Would it have been ok do you think, if they'd had the sale only a couple of days after release as well maybe?

Still, good for ED and Belsimtek, now they have educated even MORE people to wait for the sales instead of buying full price, maybe they should just sell the modules for 19,99$ straight away instead, if it's so good for them.

Good for you on your full price Huey purchase, you must not mind getting ripped off then. I have principles though.

At least now, more people will know not to buy full price anymore, surely nobody could be so foolish?

It's a temporary sale to get people involved.

If you paid full price because you can afford it, wanted to support the developers or wanted to get your hands on it early, then you got your money's worth.

It was within your budget, you supported the developers (though any purchase supports the developers) and you got your hands on the module early.

There is no better way to get new customers into a market than by lowering the price. Guaranteed those same customers (who enjoy the product) will purchase more modules.

I'm certain that if ED didn't see this strategy as profitable or beneficial, then wouldn't do it so often.

I 100% agree with you on this ... The problem is that Sale is so often and on so new release that it's become "unlogic" to pay normal price even for some of us, who are Fanboy and interest customer.

If you would pay each week for a Mi-8 yeah... it will be unlogic. But you play once then off you go. What do you have with the other people? They get better deal... fine...

if that price difference makes you feel that bad... learn...

But know that that difference is not meant for your anger but just to attract more sales from less interested people... and later on for other people that find out about it from mouth to mouth from a larger customer base won by these sales.

Actually gets very simple when you let your feelings aside.

How many sales are there and at which time of the year? I will mark them in my calendar as "when to buy DCS modules without feeling ripped off" :D. If I'd known about the autumn sale a couple of weeks ago I would never have paid full price for the Mi-8, I would have waited.

I hope that all people who find it normal and logic... and good... I hope that you have right

I hope that what I can read on other forum when a maybe new customer come to ask question in is own language as "Wait a little, you will certainly have sale soon" have no impact at all (hard to believe for me)

Really I hope that you have right.

... Because for myself I have learn and this topic is close for Belsimtek's module next time ... 2 times is enough even if the quality of the modules for a beta is not in cause...

OK I'm NEVER EVER going to buy ANY DCS module in regular pricing!!!!!

SERIOUSLY!?!??!

Caught by the short and curlys ..... If you can manage to wait for 2 weeks after Nevada ..... It will probably be cheap , I hope , lol .

I can't believe so many people are complaining over this sale. This kind of pricing structure is common in retail. The precedent has been set at the beginning of the year by DCS.

I was pretty confident that the people buying the Mi8 pre sale knew of the impending Autumn sale but just paid the full rrp as an impatient tax or supporting the developer.

I can understand a little frustration but the anger I am seeing on this forum is absurd, we do not know the whole story on ED's sale policy (at least I don't) and it has always been my belief that ED starts the sale and everyone just has to go along with it, it is not like Belsimtek controls the distribution alone, they have to sell through ED and if ED has a sale, well, that is that.

It sucks when you spend more than you have to but I don't think this is a case of some guy behind a desk at Belsimtek laughing maniacally while he twirls his evil mustache.

Seriously folks, this is getting kinda sad to see.

Prize? Oh geeze...

When the grocery store I work for has a sale, and a customer gets 2 boxes of cereal for the price I payed for one a day ago, I don't demand that the grocery store compensate me because I got one and he got 2.

Get real. :megalol:

Put the belsimtek normal price the first day at the same level and I'm sure that you will hear nothing ... :music_whistling:

And A-10 and Su-25 where not so new new... Be honest with yourself ;)

To be honest, I don't really see the problem with the sale. I had no problem paying 50$ for it at the first day. I never had a problem that I paid 50$ for the Mi-8 until I got the newsletter. And I don't have a problem that I paid 50$ after I read the newsletter.

Just because someone gets it cheaper than me, doesn't really change that I was happy to pay 50$ for it ten secodns before I got the newsletter.

This discussion, by all fairness, is very similar to this.

And all the whinning is pretty much useless anyway. Just look at the forum. It has 47732 members. I guess, there is a maximum of about 10000 active members (I would expect the value to be much lower).

Now if you take away all the people who are not intrested in helicopters like the UH-1H or the Mi-8, the people who are intrested, but didn't buy it yet and all the new people, which didn't even think of buying a new module because they aren't able to fly their first module yet, I guess there are about 2000 forums members left that actually bought the Huey and/or the Mi-8.

Do you really think that Belsimtek actually could pay any bills with that? Especially after ED got it's part, the taxes got payed, all the licences and all the other expensive parts of developing got payed, there isn't much left.

So there need to be more customers, which aren't actually in this forum.

Much more customers...

Those customers can be customers which directly buy through the ED shop, or through steam. Those customers can be hard core simmers, or those customers can be casual gamers which picked up a module at a steam sale, without actually knowing what hard core sim they actually bought for the price of some average meal.

You can expect that most of those customers either bought it in a sale or never heard that there was a sale.

And you can expect, that this "other" group of customers, which is not actually in this forum, is the main target of developers for sales.

And, from a financial standpoint, what would you do?:

a) Piss of 20,000+ customers to please 2,000

b) Piss of 2,000 (of which the half will buy the next module in the first anyways) to please 20,000+.

As nice as this forum is, it seems many folks get the impression that they are the most important customers, but actually the members of this forum (as most other forums from software developers) make just up a very small pice in the cake.

And, as you know, you can't buy food from goodwill. It's about the money. All is about the money. Welcome to kapitalism...

Disclaimer: I don't want to offend anyone, that is my standpoint, and you don't necessarly have to agree with it.

Yes, I agree, but since there is no a''compaints'' sub thread, we will use this.

And if you feel all the people that wrote here (and on other threads) are ridiculous, then you can ban us and feel more ''useful''.
