Loaded_Dice Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) Don't get me wrong for the following discussion, I have almost every module so far with the exception of the WW II planes. I know it sounds stupid but if the sales and profit were better than expected for these modules my assumption was that it would derail and delay the development efforts from more contemporary (and everyone will agree much more complicated :-)) modules like the DCS: F/A-18 and with time the whole sim would transform into a WW II era platform  However, this fear proved to be unsupported by the current developments and now I even find the free TF-51 fun to fly. Looking forward and will definitely get the P-47 since it is my favorite machine of WW II ] P.S. With time more and more limited WW II seem perfect for a fast furball in MP :-) Edited May 21, 2015 by Loaded_Dice
IJN Nagato Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 This is such an ugly plane, it shouldn't be allowed to fly. It looks great IMO. If you think the jug is ugly, what about the La-5? I like the look of the La-5, but I think in some aspects it looks like a clown.
Teapot Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) This is such an ugly plane, it shouldn't be allowed to fly. Ow! Them's fighting words fella ... you're talking about a buxom sheila with glorious curves here. Glorious curves and heaps of character, bevan heaven queen of the skies, Brunhilde wrought in aluminum, the bird that gives a visceral meaning to *joystick* ... she's the girl you don't notice at first but who has a boatload of spirit and not too proud to give you the ride of your life. She's right up there with the Dora and the 109 IMO; as far as character is concerned ... and ... she's a RADIAL! Edited May 22, 2015 by Teapot "A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft." Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

Let me tell you sumpfink pendero ... *derailments* only happen when you get a brace of low flying Apache's shooting up a steam locomotive ... and I'm not talking about those egg-beaters either FYI. msalama Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Anyone have any info on a loadout like this: Where was that pic taken and when? I think I've heard something like that done as an experiment somewhere, but can't remember any particulars just now. The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

I think I've heard something like that done as an experiment somewhere, but can't remember any particulars just now. A website discussion the preparations for the D-Day landings, it was talking about the use of cluster bombs and such, I just never saw this load out before, but looks pretty cool :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
airdoc Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Anyone have any info on a loadout like this: Never seen it, but it sure looks pretty dangerous (mainly for the pilot). The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good bowel movement. The night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities in life to experience all three at the same time.
msalama Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) but looks pretty cool :)Yeah, this is the same loadout seen from the right. 12 x anti-personnel frag + an M64 perhaps? EDIT: yep, sure looks like it anyway. Edited May 22, 2015 by msalama The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

msalama Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (edited) Doesnt look exactly the same, but interesting still...It's not the same exactly, true, but I seem to remember reading somewhere about this particular loadout regardless, i.e. 12 x 30lbs frag + 1 x AN-M64. So I'd guess that is what it is :) EDIT: + kind of makes sense too, say when you're attacking a strongpoint with a couple of trenches or some such. Edited May 22, 2015 by msalama The DCS Mi-8MTV2. Uufflakke Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 (edited) According this website it seems to be fragmentation bombs used in dive-bombing missions against airfields during Operation Overlord (scroll down to 3 quarter of the page). http://www.globalaviationresource.com/v2/2014/04/23/d-day-70-pt-7-operation-overlord-viii-fighter-commands-hun-hunters/ The small ones might be the AN-M88, (220-lbs) or the AN-M81 (260-lbs) and the big one a 260 pound fragmentation bomb. That website got some great images by the way. Take for instance the hit and exploding Fw-190 while hunted by a U.S. plane. http://www.globalaviationresource.com/v2/2014/04/23/d-day-70-pt-7-operation-overlord-viii-fighter-commands-hun-hunters/#gallery/3__1251111199/16438 Edited May 31, 2015 by Uufflakke

Snarf Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Alright, I'll add my $0.02. The P-47 shot down more enemy aircraft than any other American fighter in WW2. That's right, more than the Mustang, Corsair, or Hellcat. The Jug was not merely a bomb truck. It had a higher service ceiling than any other American fighter, and the P-47M was the fastest piston engine fighter to serve in the ETO. So there!:book: I cant find anywhere that verifies this info, the Jug was well behind in terms of air to air kills, which were topped by P51s and F6Fs. In fact it was the 4th highest scoring US fighter just marginally in front of the F4U.
