So Wags has dropped this bomb, but I can't find any info about it. Has there been any indication to what CA 1.5 will be?

 

I am quite excited about this! CA has so much potential to mitigate the lack of dynamic campaign/limited replayability in multiplayer, which I believe is the biggest shortfall of DCS World. CA with a 'game master' that can control the entire war without the current limitations we have at the moment would be fantastic. Add TARS and some solid stability to the mix, and I think we would be in DCS multiplayer Nirvana.

 

 

However, once we complete the new CA 1.5 free upgrade, we plan on creating a training video as well.

CA 1.5?

 

It sounds as if you are unaware that CA was released 1 1/2 years ago. We've been playing multiplayer with a human game master for a long while now. I think I read somewhere that the update will include radar-displays for air defence vehicles.

Yep, I have had it since release as well. However with the current limitations of what a game master can do, I personally haven't felt its lived up to it's capability.

 

Copy re radar features.

Dumb AI

Vehicle scope and FCR totally arcadish

No radar display

No Radar ON/OFF

No IR sight.

No IR in JTAC mode either (it's a damn Black&White filter:doh:)

No infantry combat (even if not pilotable)

No ERA armor simulation

No (decent) smoke cloud simulation.

No smoke at all, in fact.

 

 

 

I do not regret CA, yet i think they is room for plenty of improvement. I just hope CA1.5 is more than a radar screen. I'm sure ED will make something nice- i just hope most of the things above will be covered. I'm also sure several would love to get a DCS:(insert tank here). :D

No Radar ON/OFF

 

you are wrong on that one you can turn the radar off both in first person view and through the command screen, but only on pilot able vehicles which is a damn shame.

I will have a look tonight. I may have missed something in the commands or it has been added lately.

 

I know I can power off units that i'm not in them, but as soon as I jump in them, radar goes on automatically, and i also automatically take a ARM missile in my head seconds later. :lol:

 

if you set AA units to green state theyll turn their radars off, when you jump in a vehicle you press i and itll turn of the radar.

If the CA 1.5 bring us radar for first Person, infatry tranportation for APC, multi-spectral smoke munitions for armors and some minors bugs fixed. Then we are rock!!

You cant expect to add water and have "instant CA".

The CA series will very much be an iterative process.

And to declare it will never work is simply ridiculous, because it is working. It's just not to the level you desire. Development and maturity takes time.

Yeah ok but it´s quite the same for other modules.

 

I mean, if they want to make a new ARMA, it will be ok in 2035!!!

 

These 2 companies should think about an interface between both simulators. Can be a win/win contract without giving precious dev datas to each others.

 

Instead, they compete and customers pay for beta products...

They are working on the physics of vehicles, engines, gearboxes, clutch, tracks and other things. Almost all the ground vehicles have new sounds and you can use the Roland. The are planning to add into the logbook the CA tab, with logged how many kills you do, how many losts, fire accuracy and other good things.

 

First stages take to vehicle improvements, and infantry skeleton animation will be incoming.

Other parts of our team are working on new elements for Combined Arms. Two of many new features includes a radar display for radar-guided air defense systems and more realistic fire control systems for armored units. I've attached an early work in progress image of the new radar display.

 

To better support new title like UH-1H and the upcoming Mi-8MTv2 helicopters, we are also developing the means for infantry to load and unload from them. We believe this will add a whole new level of game play for those modules.

this is already in Arma since years !!! DCS infantry won't be playable till years !!!

I dont think DCS has any real plans in place to become a FPS or infantry simulation. Sure they want better control over infantry, and to improve the looks of the infantry, but I dont think they are interested in or even capable of adding a ARMA style game to DCS World... I mean wasnt one of the reasons the better FM for helos was taken out of ARMA due to poor performance?

 

I think Infantry control will be purely based on the ground commander role, and moving infantry around, I would like to see more units, different roles, etc... but I dont think getting your hopes up for any form of DCS: Infantry FPS type game is a good idea...

Yeah ok but what´s the point to implement infantry if you don't push the concept to its limits...

 

They should speak together about an interface between their 2 virtual worlds !!!

I dont think it would be possible right now, we dont have computers that can handle what it would take to run the size of the world we are in and the details of the world ARMA infantry exist in right now...

we dont have that, but we have trickery and game dev magic up our selves :)

 

we dont need the entire DCS map in ARMA sized micro terrain, just a "tiny" 80km x 80km sized square.

 

which wouldnt be an easy task to pull off either.

Nope if it was easy someone would have done it already, and its probably not even a matter of being easy or not, its more of time and current computers ability to run it.... take the current map we have now, now make all the buildings in it capable of being entered and used by infantry.... now watch your computer turn into a puddle as it loads that map ;)
