cichlidfan Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I think that was 1.2.6, not 1.2.7 No, it is from the current version of Wag's post. There was no automatic track generation with 1.2.6. fjacobsen Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) "We will first release DCS 1.2.7 as an Open Beta using a web installer. This open beta install will be separate from your release DCS World (1.2.6) install and have separate configuration files" What does that exactly mean ? Will we have to download a full installer and then when installing we will get a different 1.2.7 DCS-world installment, while 1.2.6 will co-exist on our computers? Or will this 1.2.7 open beta simply update our current 1.2.6 install ? Fjacobsen Edited December 14, 2013 by fjacobsen | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. Azrayen Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The former, fjacobsen. For me it's clear it will be "a different 1.2.7 DCS-world installment, while 1.2.6 will co-exist on our computers". (for the time of the open-bêta, afterwards, back to normal & open-bêta installation may be deleted)

But how about the settings in:"C:\Users\user_name\Saved Games\DCS" - Will they be overwritten by 1.2.7 or will a seperate folder be generated ? Otherwise 1.2.7 might wreck 1.2.6 Fjacobsen | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. NVMe SSD | 1x2TB M.2. ALDEGA Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 The statement clearly says the open beta will have "separate configuration files". 1.2.6 and the open beta of 1.2.7 will be completely separated.
Flagrum Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 "We will first release DCS 1.2.7 as an Open Beta using a web installer. This open beta install will be separate from your release DCS World (1.2.6) install and have separate configuration files. Once you download the open beta, you will use the Module Manager to install your modules. We particularly hope that this, combined with the automatic track crash generator, will help us resolve remaining network issues prior to the final release version of DCS 1.2.7. This is an optional beta, and if you do not wish to take part, you certainly do not have to." -Wags I find this as exciting as the whole update itself. But this will only work well if the bug reporting will be consistent and organized. I hope ED has prepared some guidlines and the supporting infrastructure (Bug Tracker? At least some better organized forum structure for that purpose!) when the Open Beta goes live.
xaoslaad Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 They said it will have separate configuration. You may expect something like Saved Games\DCS Beta or something...

I might ask stupid questions, but it´s not so clearly when You then take the 1.2.7 UH-1 Huey changelog into account: "*Changes in input commands require resetting input profiles to new default settings. To do so, delete (or rename if you wish to keep a backup) the saved input configuration folders (files) located in \WINDOWS DRIVE\User\User Name\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\UH-1H\." If 1.2.7 and the various modules will be a seperate installments - how can I then have an old 1.2.6 UH-1 input profile that I need to delete ? Fjacobsen You are not installing 1.2.7, you are installing 1.2.7 Beta Which is a completely separate install. When you update 1.2.6 to 1.2.7 release, you will need to do the above for the Huey. NRG-Vampire Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Because it's not ready? Nate ok but 1.2.4, 1.2.5 and 1.2.6 were not a beta afaik so will we get some new and serious implementation which will surely change in other future patches - while all we know there's: EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE or is it beta only because of it's an opened version ?
ENO Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I have no questions- only anticipation. We're flying anyway- but I'm really hoping this new version will help streamline the fix process. Now instead of angrily sighing after a crash I'm hoping this new reporting system will have me fist pumping and cheering each time since it's one more bug that will get fixed! Naviss Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 My question bout the open beta is, Can I get it via steam (WHEN RELEASED)? Or will I need to update my older client to get into the beta? I know on Steam on game properties you can opt in or out of betas. So I just wondered.

I know on Steam on game properties you can opt in or out of betas. So I just wondered. This will be a separate install. The Steam beta programs do not provide a separate beta install. You just get the beta instead of the release version, which is not ED's intent. Esac_mirmidon Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 So all the changelog from this 1.2.7 version is an open beta? Or some parts are from the open beta and others from 1.2.7 no beta patch? In other words. 1.2.7 update is ONLY an open beta and users that don´t wont to install must wait to 1.2.7 GOLD to be released? " You must think in russian.." It's released as a beta because: "We particularly hope that this, combined with the automatic track crash generator, will help us resolve remaining network issues prior to the final release version of DCS 1.2.7." (Wags) The more people testing in multiplayer, the more chances the devs have to catch and solve network issues. To get "more people" involved, an open beta is a nice way, don't you think? :smilewink: ++ Az'
