holy cr@p, didn't realize the Brit's fielded so many Corsairs in WWII. 2,012 Corsairs of all types.

Mine too. Love the Pacific theatre history. Plus I grew up about five miles from Pappy Boyington's hometown so there's a lot of respect for him, that theatre and that plane there. His book is insane too, btw.

Yes. In fact the model he is making was pretty much only used in korea. Arrived in the last weeks of ww2.

read his book when I was a kid. was glued to it, (and Baa Baa Black Sheep, the TV series had just come out).

My info: The first F4U-4 was delivered to the US Navy on 31 October 1944. A four-bladed propeller replaced the three-bladed one of the F4U-1. During the F4U-4 production, the cockpit was redesigned with a flat, bullet-proof windscreen, a revised canopy, an armoured seat and improved instrument panel.
