Pman Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Hi, Performance has taken another hit with 1.2.7 with AMD cards. I know its been said before but it obviously needs saying again that these issues need to be addressed. Running the following kit: Intel I7 3770k @ 5ghz 12gb Corsair Ram AMD 7990 GFX Installed on SSD Raid and even on medium settings it spikes all over the place. Needs investigating as its getting to the point where its unplayable Pman
hypersonik Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Interesting with those specs .. is this overall ( MP,SP, Different missions)? DCSW wishlist : multi-crew :D GTX480, i52400, 8GB, Samsung EVO 840 250G SSD, Raid 0 2TB =~45 FPS [Maxed] [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pman Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Interesting with those specs .. is this overall ( MP,SP, Different missions)? MP and SP Something in the region of 25fps in an unstarted Mustang on my own and drops to about 15-18 at points Its gutting but if this is how 1.2.7 is going to be then thats the end of DCS for me :( That said I have just spotted a new AMD driver released today am going to try that now and report back
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 18, 2013 ED Team Posted December 18, 2013 We all know ATI has issues with DCS its a long standing issue, but keep the faith lots of changes are happening with DCS and when we move to DX11 things should improve for us ATI users. I had noticed a drop of a couple of frames in the HUEY but nothing I can not put up with. :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? hypersonik Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I asked on different missions because I get terrible FPS and load time on the the Virtual Aerobatics Server. ~12 fps hit and when I cycle through F2 load time for planes can be multiple seconds. But if it is on different missions Than that's not right. ( for amd users) DCSW wishlist : multi-crew :D GTX480, i52400, 8GB, Samsung EVO 840 250G SSD, Raid 0 2TB =~45 FPS [Maxed] [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pman Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 well the new drivers didnt improve anything. Sadly I think thats the nail in the coffin for me
karambiatos Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 im on nvidia, my performance is also worse than 1.2.6, esspecially when it comes i start shooting the 30mm cannon on the russian planes. lmp Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Yup, I'm using a GTX 460 and I'm seeing a slight FPS drop and very noticeable stutter increase :(.

Pman Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 tried those and not alot of change, have tinkered with Radeon Pro and forced a few issues to low and it bumped the frames abit but still way under par The dual GPU's are only running with one (known SLI and Xfire issue so np) but the one core it is using is only clocking up to 50% ish Hoping for some optimisation along the path :)
MegOhm_SD Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I don't get it sometimes...People say it is bad for them when I see no such problems. I have run this all day online in servers and in single player... FPS in the 40s and 50s. The same I get in 1.2.6 For me 1.2.7 runs well with no FPS issues at all...Haven't noticed a drop. no stutters. I have everything on high...so when you say AMD users take a hit and it is unplayable...that should not be a blanket statement. Cyb0rg Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I have almost same performace i had with 1.2.6 (25-35) offline (15-30) online. Now i can easly see that with mirrors on i have a 6/7 FPS loss. Edit : have no stutters ^^ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asteroids ____________________________________________ Update this :D
aaron886 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Same problem... frame rate counter appears to be in the normal range for my setup, but the hitching and stuttering is atrocious. Completely unplayable. I wouldn't expect many bug reports if people can't even play it smoothly, ED... :(

Gloom Demon Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 1.2.7 FPS drop Disturbing news. I have ran a simple mission of a Su-25T flying low, straight and level over Tbilisi without any player interference and got a sizable FPS drop using the same game settings (no AI traffic, all settings maxed out, zero bushes visibility, cockpit shadows and mirrors off and no other units on the map). DCSW 1.2.7 beta Average 54.983 Minimum 51 Maximum 60 DCSW 1.2.6 Average 64.750 Minimum 60 Maximum 69 I haven't got a chance to see whether video quality settings have anything to do with it, I do recall however, that changing antialiasing in 1.2.6 didn't really influence the FPS rate - maybe something changed in this aspect. P.S. I do understand, that 1.2.7 is still in beta stage and things might change... hopefully. P.P.S. FPS measured by FRAPS. storm363 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I'm running all at low, except textures (medium), AA (4x), HDR (Cold) and I have the same FPS as 1.2.6, 40-60. I also noticed, already in 1.2.6, that when I see nav lights, i lose 1-2 FPS. BitMaster Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I have to push on the stuttering issue described, unplayable, with any FPS. I flew with Pman last night on VA Server and it was the worst night of them all. Despite my Fraps showed 30-45 fps when flying around, the actual flow was a BIG MICRO STUTTER disaster. I then fired up my own server, loaded a mission and SAME THING... I need to spend more time nailing it down, but obviously the stutter is not related to the actual speed of 3D rendering & processing, since it happens with 48 fps looking at the clear sky were usually it is smooth like a baby @ßß. NV 650-GT-M-1GB, Core i7 2.6GHz, 16GB DDR3, Win7-64-SP1, 256GB-SSD ( MBP Retina ) Admitted, the VA Server is known to be among the more stuttering ones ( maybe cause it hosts more players usually than all others together ? ) but last night was a big No Go to have fun ! Lars "BitMaster" I'm afraid I haven't had the chance to try out 1.2.7 yet, but I will be interested to see if my game stutters. Currently, It never does. I only fly in the VA server which regularly has 30+ players in and there's no issues at all for me. We'll have to see how it goes when I get home :) Virtual Horsemen - Right Wing (P-51) - 2008...
