Small localization proposals for the manual: - Along the screenshots of westernized instruments, please provide screenshots of original Soviet instruments. - Also if the altitude/distance/speed are mentioned in feet/nm/knots, please also include converted metric values (users will understand better why they have weird values. - Provide names of switches and controls along labels in Russian.

It wasn't sorted. To this day the DCS Mosquito flings its tailwheel into the runway upon touchdown, something you can easily see the real aircraft does not do. That violent tail-down pitch when the main wheels touch down is a bug. I do not think this will ever be fixed, or any of the other outstanding bugs in ED WW2 aircraft. Enjoy them for what they are but treat it as a 1990s boxed game purchase: no updates, no patches, no nothing.

C-130J First Impressions by Growling Sidewinder
vincentb replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: C-130J
I'd love to understand a little more about the TAWS display. At around the 20:45 minute mark in the first impressions video, the herc is going straight towards a hill requiring it to pull up, yet the TAWS display only appears to show green in front of the aircraft. Should it not have indicated that terrain or am I missing something? Thanks! -

You can do a flight planning based on waypoints and fixes in the database. Also on some maps you can fly approaches.
-
Depending on the radar it might have been below the RWR's minimum frequency for detecting it. 2 GHz is the lowest frequency it will detect IIRC, most of the EWR are well below that.

None of the 9.12 got enabled for fuel tanks initially. However this was done at later time and you can find enough of photos of 9.12 with these fuel tanks. Edit: just read your last message.

Mission 4 - SAMS and SU and BUFF's oh my
Youtch replied to speed-of-heat's topic in F-16C Dragon's Fury Campaign
What are the exact conditions to get a success in this mission? I played this mission 4 times and I am getting at best DRAW, even if i shot my HARMs, forced the fleet to shoot a lot of missiles at me, and shot down 2 planes. How many MR needs to be shot down to register a success? -

I cope with the single-dot-DLAA spoting issue by telling myself, that real world spoting when the object is the size of a "a single pixel" isn't perfect either. Atmospheric effects like thermals (or heat flimmering), pollution, haze/dust, cloudes or even a flock of birds (much nearer) between the target and the spotter, can throw of the visual "lock".

SrSosio started following Mission 2 always crashes
-
Hi everybody. Has anybody else experienced crashes in mission 2? I've played it like 5 or 6 times and have not been able to finish it yet. It always crashes quite into the mission, shortly after the AP training and after turning towards WP3. It may be just my computer, which does funny things in DCS and crashes it rather often, but I just had a long play in the apache with no issues. I don't have the log at the moment, but I'll try the mission one more time and upload the track and the error logs.

The actual DCS Maps cover. A 3rd party will build a propper GUIK Map zone to cover England / Ireland / etc. GUIK has a propper combat zone. ED has working on the "World Map". (15:25).

The key bindings are missing a control for the cockpit lights.

Well, ackkcually... Since last update that switch does do something. Whoever made that button work probably just forgot about adding keybinds for it... Tactical @TOViper ping -

Wrong J pronunciation in startup training mission
draconus replied to draconus's topic in Bugs and Problems
Since it's a single J letter he should read it as Джей correctly. G (джи) is simply another letter. I said it's minor so don't accuse me of nitpicking and everyone reads HUD as a word, not H.U.D, so Idk what's your point. -

Hi, Concerning the AI, It would be quite interesting that's they were able to perform simple BVR tactics like SKATE, SHORT SKATE and BANZAI with good use of CRANK, NOTCH and PUMP ou ABORT maneuvers. Maybe the tactics could be selectable using advanced option of waypoint or triggers?

Please Fix the Replay system, I'm so tired of this...
Sport replied to VinntoreZ's topic in General Bugs
I’d like to echo the OP and also offer the solution of a game option to save both a track replay in its current state for debugging, as well as a positionally based track system. Tackview is able to do this and generally speaking we get very good files with that. I have backed away from content creation, mostly because of the time sink of dealing with broken track files. The amount of time I spend in DCS, filming - setting up shots, flying them, hoping the track file is good, and then repeating the process several times, means I usually spend over an hour of work for every minute of footage. It’s not only unsustainable, but also a terribly ROI of my already limited time. While I love content creation, I also want to be able to play the game as well. The other day, I found myself looking for DCS videos to watch on YouTube, just wanted to scratch the itch - but I couldn’t find a single thing I really wanted to watch. The number of active content creators is shrinking and the one’s still producing content so a lot of tutorials, because you can do it live and in first person. Getting access to a more reliable replay system and better camera controls (axis bindings for movement and zoom would be huge) would make content creation much easier. I miss making videos and haven’t lost my passion for it, but when I sit down to start something, my motivation is quickly lost when I fly an incapable sortie, only to see my airplane crash on takeoff in the replay. I’d love to work with ED on this, to give feedback and suggestions and am willing to sign whatever NDAs necessary, but of all the things on my personal wishlist for DCS, this is number one.- 11 replies

Wrong J pronunciation in startup training mission
DogsInTrousers replied to draconus's topic in Bugs and Problems
In Russian language, the letter J does not exist. It is common to combine дж (d+zh) to closely articulate an english sounding J. For example, Джон (John). Combining дж and speaking it as a single sound would very much sound like an English G, albeit slightly soft, hence your "bug". Though I would hardly call it a bug, just a difference in pronunciation. Suprised you didn't nitpick the voice actors lack of phonetically sounding out HUD as an abbreviation, but rather pronouncing it as a word....
