  3. Hey guys! Took me long enough, but i finally kicked myself in the butt and finished this last teaser for Speed 2, which has been lingering on my PC for many months now.   5. Hi all, Since October, I began to code a LockOn Mission Editor to add new possibilities to our Simu. From now, you can easily create simple mission to add planes, tank... and assign them some waypoints graphically without needing to launch LockOn. You can set payload for aircraft, fuel... You can make mission under Linux (Mac probably but not yet tested) and Windows. All the code is under GPL (open source), written in Python language. In few days, I certainly release a first alpha version, in order to see what it can do, and to make test to track bugs (it is under heavy development :D ). If you are interested in making test, or helping me to develop, you are strongly welcome! I figured that if I didn't know of the existence of these images, perhaps a few others didn't either.   11. Относительно реализма... Простите, если где-то повторю сказанное и выйду за пределы темы. Не нужно забывать, что симы это все-же игрушки. Нельзя требовать от игрушечного АК что-бы он выстрелом пробивал рельсу. Поэтому разработчикам желательно выделить главное и не размениваться на второстепенном. Реализм управления, работы систем выбранного ЛА, поведения в воздухе - да, без вариантов! На то он и СИМУЛЯТОР. Следующий параметр- качество модели ЛА и текстур применённых к нему. Вряд-ли долго захочешь летать на грубо обтёсанном бревне. А тем более тратить часы на изучение мануалов посвящённых тонкостям работы авионики и систем вооружения. Зачастую решающим в выборе самолета является взгляд со стороны. Иногда и патриотизм не поможет... Окружающий мир: взгляд из кабины наружу может заставить выйти из игры вообще. Кстати, несмотя на некоторые недостатки, ЛО в этом отношении я считаю наилучшей среди СИМов в этом классе. Удручают деревья из текстур низкого разрешения и горы похожие на зелёные пирамиды Хеопса. Может в данном случае можно не увеличивать количество полигонов, а подработать текстуры (bump,displacement и т.п.)? Хотелось бы иметь возможность менять ТВД хотя-бы на уровне АДДОНов. Давайте побросаем обломки ещё где нибудь кроме района Чёрного моря; предложение навскидку - Сахалин ??? Физика полётов самолётов-ботов; интересно конечно наблюдать как ведомый догоняя и занимая место в строю гасит скорость с 1200 до 450 за 3-4 секунды, но по большому счёту мне всё равно с помощью каких формул вычислена траектория противника по которому выпущена ракета (снаряд). В условиях приближённых к реальному AI противника( тоже немаловажный фактор) на это просто нет времени. То-же и в отношении оружия - если прицеливание выполнено правильно-оно должно попасть. Точка. Противодействие на совести AI. Современность боевой техники: Понимаю, что многие образцы находятся на вооружении сейчас и будут применятся ещё долго, но хотелось бы видеть и F-22 и "Спектры" и т.д. Из всего вышеприведенного - может есть смысл выпускать серии в которой будет один, два пилотируемых ЛА- пример; "Вертолёты Камова","Су-25 Афганистан" ? Так можно на одном движке дифферинцироваться по моделям, месту боевых действий, времени ,(применить модульный принцип по типу Ил-2). И последнее- по редактору миссий. Очень хорошая штука. Возникло как-то желание в одной миссии использовать разные самолеты; ну там пробить корридор в ПВО,расчистить воздушное пространство;проштурмовать объект и т.п. Но после приземления и смены самолёта выяснилось что стемянки и лестницы намертво "приварены" на другом самолёте (после использования ботом). Набегающим потоком сбросить не удалось:-) Иногда такая процедура парковки очень мешает. Желательно иметь возможность после приземления и сохранения менять состав вооружения на подвесках. Это может значительно расширить возможности симулятора

  12. For Lock On 1.1x Use ModMan to install. Available at my site. New coastline textures fade out at far range and no strange color effects appear any more. The textures look same as before at close range. EDIT: The fade out distance depends on the Anisotropic Filtering setup of the video card. I adjusted version 1.0 at 4X. The distance could be too close for no or lower AF setup. EDIT: Version 1.0b is added for 2X or No Anisotropic Filtering.

  16. About the grass/ ground First of all the detail it needs for zero ground level real life grass look is not possible (for now). Remember guys, we are not skining an aircraft here, its the whole Crimea for gods sake! You need to consider the sight from at least 60-70 feet. And/or higher! If we start making detail in low level , when you gain altitude it will look horrible. There are things possible and not possible.

  18. в реале ты замучаешься штурм искать и ловить в захват, а скорее всего тебе это вообще не удастся, если он будет лететь так, как наши штурмы летают. так что давай действительно замнём, а то за каждую ниточку хватаемся... чтоб штурм не отработал, нужно быть рядом с колонной, а не охотиться за фрагами, тогда и логи не понадобятся. можно заминать :)

  21. Well if you fire a missile from 45.000 ft flying mach2, then it should have no problems going well above mach 4. I don't see the problem with US missiles being able to reach speeds at least close to russian ones. Why this constant belief "Oh it's a US missile so it probably cannot break 1500 kts, 2200 kts no way". Russian missiles can fly 2200 kts and actually MORE in lockon :), believe it or not. One of the problems is the missiles "speed cap". I don't even think as it is modelled right now is very realistic. If a missiles really stopped accellerating at a certain speed from programming, then certainly it would also start consuming less fuel (which is no the case here). I doubt the missiles would deploy airbreaks just so it could keep its speed at 2700 kph More reasonable to consume less fuel ;). Neither do I think it's a question of maintaining structural integrity, since the missiles can already pull g's in the 10ths, and a few more hundred knots of speed while flying straight should not make much more difference. compared to a little slower but turning 20 g. The problem with removing the speed cap is that right now all missiles have UBER accelleration at 30-35 g and don't have drag modelled at all while burning(except for the speed cap). This means that if we remove the speed cap we will see mach 8 amraam in lockon :). I say make acc numbers more realistic (easy) and model basic drag (easy) and remove speed cap. Result : Launch speed becomes important. Launch altitude becomes important. Ru missiles still have longer range for you fans out there :P. This favors all missiles. Missiles can actual work from rear aspect, energy wise (OMG) However you still have to deal with the fact that a few chaff in Lo will make any rear aspect RADAR missile lose track. Either way a slow aircraft should not be able to make a missile fly very fast, especially not if fired from low. A fast flying aircarft on the other hand, starting high and giving the missile a favorable loft path, there is your killer speed. This whole speed cap is one of the reasons why missiles in Lo cannot give chase. You cannot make your amraam catch running targets from 3nm if he is supersonic and low - forget it. It is actually possible with low fuel to outrun your own burning sidewinder since there is no modelling of overspeed damage :) (try low fuel very steep downwards dive with full burners) Now take the 45.000 ft example again, and assume the fighter fired at mach 1.5 (not that unreasonable for f22 ;), maybe amraam might slam into his wing, but wth - F-16 can do it :)) Fire the missile in a 0g path and I am sure that amraam has no problem going well above 2200 kts. It doesn't make sense to specify cruising speed to mach 4 in F-16 MLU handbook if the missile under no circumstances cannot even peak there. Note that this example is even for aim120A. Btw I am not advertising for Falcon4 AF. I find AF to be crap :P. I prefer lockon before AF even for missile fights. However there are other fighter games with missiles I prefer even more than Lo ^^ Here is some advertisement :) (no photoshopping) Edit : Just tested Lo R-27ER at high flanker cruising altitude, ER was going 2361 kts... . For those of you that don't know what I mean with speed cap check this pic from my earlier post : .

  29. Hi, Well as you all know that once a "Good" thread gets started some where or some people just cant be nice to eachother. I would like to propose that "ADMINISTRAORS" would just "Delete" the offencive posts insted of "Deleting the whole thread" There are a number of reasons why this would be effective and usefull to our comunity. 1. We would not need to "Repost" threads like ECM IFF threads. 2. We can continue to discuss information on specific topics. 3. We can keep exsisting intelegent people to post and remain active on this site. Just my input and I hope in the future threads will not get deleted. Its nice to see all of the good posts and the information we all know. :joystick:
