  3. The 51st PVO Regiment proudly presents This weekend-event is held to honor the Mig-29A and Su-25A. Stretching back to the old 504th Server days, where MiG-29A missions were frequently used with great response from the community. We will now dedicate this weekend to these aircraft and we would like to invite everyone to participate in this special event, held on the 51st_Dedicated sever this weekend. No sudden ET deaths, no spamming of actives, no ECM (blinking), just good old semi-actives and lots and lots of merges :) Mission Briefing: BREAKING NEWS: Friday March 15th, 1985, Moscow ============================================== With the death of Konstantin Chernenko, the leader of the Soviet Union, last Monday, a fierce struggle for power between his would-be successors has left the Soviet Union in disarray. Yesterday, in the void of power, the Ukrainian Republic has declared its independence from the Union, which lead to an armed onflict in the Crimean peninsula, where the Soviet Union has a large naval base for the Black Sea Fleet. At present, some Ukrainian military commanders, sympathizing for Ukrainian independence, have started an offensive to take control of Soviet facilities in the peninsula, but are encountering heavy resistance from the Soviet forces. 5. A big hello to the Lomac community, I've not been flying for a while as I've been spending what little time I have on rFactor and Live for Speed, which has led me to a pretty cool discovery. Someone recently found that a Directx modification for Grand theft Auto made by a rather clever chap named Boris Vorontsov also works in rFactor, GTR2 and Richard burns. I noticed there was a directx8 version of the mod so I tried it in Live for Speed and it worked, then it struck me that Lockon was also DX8 so I tried it and it only bloody worked in Lomac too didn't it. :megalol: Now I've not been messing too deeply with the Bloom settings in LO and the screens you see are just quick snapshots using the same config that I use for rFactor so the effect is extremely oversaturated in some areas but the good thing is that the mod is heavily tweakable so people can work with it and share their findings. Theres also a reflection mod included which I disabled in the .ini file but it works too, it just needs tweaked properly which I don't have the time to do right now but it does make the planes give off reflections and it was pretty cool. A water mod is also in there as well but again I've not devled too deeply but knowing the Flight sim community just like the Driving sim community are a picky and rather resourceful bunch I'm sure you'll either hate it if have fun configuring it to suit your taste. To activate the mod just take the files named enbseries.ini and d3d8.dll from the zip file I attached and put it into your main Lockon directory. A few things to note, 1st up is my lomac flaming cliffs installation isn't working as I reinstalled windows and my disk is buggered so I've only tried this in lomac 1.0 but surely it will work in FC too, and 2nd is that no matter what resolution I set in lockon it always goes to 1024x786 when using the mod, it could be my lomac config thats warped as it was just a quick install and test. The file named enbseries.ini is the config file that controls all the effects and there are quite a few parameters that are adjustable but thankfully theres a readme that explains what each one does. Here's the files and some screens along with a link to the original creators website, he's got a guestbook so if it adds something to your LO enjoyment drop him a line saying thanks. Have fun tweaking and enjoy. Before After Before After Before After OH NoeZ nucular bombs :D http://boris-vorontsov.narod.ru/download_en.htm Lock On HDR.rar

  8. First: I am not affiliated with ED. I have no influence in the development of Black Shark nor am I any better indicator of what they will do than a dead chicken is an indicator of the future. This poll is being done out of my own personal curiosity: Nuclear weapons have always been a touchy issue in flight simulators. I created a poll on the subject some time ago and it stimulated an interesting discussion. Unfortunately the poll was to simple to to capture the variety and complexity of positions people had. So, I decided it would be good to make a second attempt. Anyway, to break up the monotony while we're waiting for the next bit of news: Should sims like DCS eventually model nuclear weapons? In conclusion: I am not affiliated with ED. I have no influence in the development of Black Shark nor am I any better indicator of what they will do than a dead chicken is an indicator of the future.

  10. I came across this Mig25 documentary which seems to cover quite a few incidence's involving the Mig25. It's in Russian so I can't be sure what anyone is saying but the footage looks important :smilewink:. Anyway maybe someone can post this in Russian forum and give us a couple of sentences in English so we can understand what this was all about .. Not a complete tranlsation of course but just a line or two to give us a gist of what was said. http://uploaded.to/?id=y3nqol 220/mb

  11. Hi, I have a small request/suggestion. When you do release Black shark I'm sure at some point there will be patches and updates. You could please keep the patch scheme/naming conventions simple? for example 1.0, 1.5, 2.0. And keep the patch pathway simple to understand and easy to use. For example as a user I should be able to simply see what the highest current version is and download that and apply it. Not something like "Use 1.12c patch but only if you down loaded from the web on the third Tuesday of the month. If you have the Cd version of 1.0A In Zawhili use the 1.13d version" No offense to the guys that wrote Lock-on. It's great program but the patch process is a bit exasperating at best. And if possible make the Patch a clean install. Or at least install to a new folder. That way if it breaks or something goes wrong the costumer can go back and play the the old version with out having to reinstall. As a former tech support manager these things will make your life as a company a lot easier and the customers a lot happier. thanks, Mike

  21. Yes, I'm confused too. Why does everyone think nuclear weapons would do something like destroy a huge chunk of the map? As eurofor said, there are ones that are smaller than conventional bombs. Not all nukes are city-flateners.

  22. Only if they model one of the V bombers... But that will never happen.

  23. rgrt Groove, I'll have to track those results down. But I'll feel a lot better when I see BS running optimized for either Crossfire(X) or SLi mode. For that matter, I wonder if there are any combat flight sims that are (will be) optimized to use two GPUs. It is my bad fortune that all the sims I own are flight sims, and only one of them is not a combat flight sim. So for me deciding on a video card, and even a motherboard is very important. What's a body to do?:helpsmilie: Flyby out

  24. Nukes... No. As people have said before me plenty enough. It doesn't fit the bill. As people have said before me, there's plenty of other stuff that needs priority. Wiping out half of your tactical map with one bomb... thats not why I fly sims. Even if it's in the game, I would find it highly unrealistic to fly around with a bomb like that under my wings. There are of course exceptions, but with the scenarios ED seemingly wants to portray, there's no real interest in escalating the war beyond conventional. There's no point, especially because the story wouldn't be any more interesting with nukes added. -Z

  25. --"AZ" could stand for Azimuth. How wide is the scan on the radar. The CMDI in the slides shows "AZ 60", I assume that means azimuth scan of 60 degrees. --"EL" could mean elevation or elevation bar setting. How high is the antenna looking or ho many scan will it do, like a mechanical radar (MSA). The one in the slide show could mean a elevation of 10 degrees or 10 scans. I do not know much about RADAR but I know they try to keep things simple in the cockpit so pilots may get familiar with the instruments quicker. An AESA antenna might not move but, maybe they left the control and symbology so pilots can transfer quicker to F-18E/F/G and better use the systems. Maybe you still need to control the scan area in a AESA radar? I'm no expert but maybe some ideas guys, what do you guys think?

The RAAF is conducting once again a large-scale live flying exercise out of the bases at Darwin and Tindal. Unfortunatelly I have to stay with the CAOC at Glenbrook Base near Sydney, planning the show. Hope you enjoy the pictures, I think there will be more available on the web as the exercise moves on. BTW: It's wintertime in Australia, frickin cold with wind and rainshowers here in Sydney.
