Hi all, :music_whistling: yes, you have well read the title. Following my Work In Progress in LO modeling within the ADA Team, since it will will be more or less the first 3D cockpit ever made in Lockon. In the past, Tomcatz showed some issues with its early L39, now I will show you "my Real Thing". :smartass: As my old physics teacher said, a schema is worth thousands words. Nowadays, with the great Video Director LOTHAMROTH, :D let me say a video is worth 25 schemas per second! So to illustrate my work, please "hit" this: Beware, this is a 124 Mo video, if you want to watch this on other support, please follow those links: Streaming: Vimeo: YouTube: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=LVUIi8vGDmI Mirrors : http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index....le=920&lang=en http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=1U7VITXV A special thread for technical questions will be open on the www.ada-mod.org forum, but let me summarize the cockpit work: All are 3D analog gauges (no MFD possible in LO...) - Altimeter, Vertical speed, IAS, Mach are active - G-load and special alphajet incidencemeter active - 3D horizon ball - some Warning lights - RPM, fuel flow and ITT active - canopy opening - gear lever and speed throttles - HSI is transformed into RMi, but not fully working My thanks goes to Lothamroth for the video editing, AdA-mod dev team for testing and ideas sharing, Patrouille Virevolte my aerobatic team, Cpt Stark for the "millions hours livery" and "Ninja", the real Alphajet solo display 2007-2008! Enjoy! :pilotfly:2 points

Just a quick message to tell you all how amazing Flaming cliffs looks with TH2Go! After reading a lot here (our forum) and there (including the excellent forum on widescreengamingforum.com), reviews of hardware, graphics cards, etc, I decided to give myself a proper 50th birthday present and went ahead with buying TH2Go with 3 monitors and a new graphics card. My computer is average good with a Core2Duo E6600 (2.4Ghz) and 2 Gigs of DDR2 memory, and previously I had a nVidia 7950X2 card. When I plugged my 3 new Samsung 19'' flat pannels in through the TripleHead2Go digital edition recently arrived, the FPS were disastrous. I ordered then a new XFX Black edition (slightly overclocked) of the great 9800GX2 card and now everything is fantastic. I get FPS around 20 to 30 on the airbases or above cities flying low, or with dozens of explosions going around and of course, if I fly high, or above water, it can go as high as 200. Anyways, for me, the FPS is one thing but more important is the impression of fluidity without discontinuity... Which is what I do get now. The image is so big now with 3840x1024 that it fills one's vision and even if things are a bit too zoomed in, it is OK because it looks much more realistic (with dials being big like real ones, and trees and details pretty big in the hud). The feeling of everything being more real because bigger was my greatest surprise. It requires quite a bit of fiddling to make it work properly. I was lucky to be nicely helped by a few people including RATCATCHER who really summed up all the previous discussions about it here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=491571&postcount=59 Most of this info comes from ggg87 and TekaTeka, thanks to them. Here is the original full thread on the problem by ggg87 : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=17306 Here is a thread that is informative on the Widescreengaming forum : http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4374 and yet another one : http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16713&highlight=lockon#16713 Finally, for those who dont know about it, here is a detailed review of the Matrox TH2GO: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Matrox_TripleHead2Go_Digital_Edition_%28Featured_Review%29 Together with a good HOTAS and most definitely TrackIR4, it is the most immersive simulator experience! There are strengths and weaknesses in every game. As we've explained in the past, it isn't about DirectX, but about TFCSE and the fact that ED would have to go backwards into the code to redesign the effects. This is very unlikely to happen, because a new engine is already in development to replace it. The move to DX9 was made for a specific reason - to fix the shadow issue. Unless there is a similarly good reason, ED will not do double work and develop special effects in two different engines, especially when one is supposed to be replaced sooner or later. As always - what ED does has less to do with what we or even they would like and more with what makes sense given the limits of manpower, time and money available to do their projects. There is a specific number of graphics artists in the studio and they need to be used in the most effective manner possible. We welcome requests from users and ED takes them into account as much as possible, but you would be mistaken to believe that your repetitive asking is what gets a feature into the game, including your example of infantry. Moreover, asking for a feature a dozen times over, especially when we've taken the time to respond and explain the possibility of implementing it, becomes an unnecessary distraction for us and looks like trolling on the forum. I understand that wasn't your intent, but you have to also understand that implementing requests is not a matter of clicking heels and not everything can be done at the same time.1 point

lol EB!!! hey! the persistence paid off. FInally my most requested feature (and by others as well), infantry is in the game. :D The other thing I always felt about lockon was how the special effects were crappy. I mean the fire on ground units....it looks soooo bad. Atleast the old style fire effect on ships looks better. There are sooo many games out there...simulation or not with explosion effects which look soo much more engaging than lock on. WHen we work soo hard in FC/BS dealing with AA fire etc and so on....fire off a missile...its disappointing to see a crappy little fire rather than a nice wicked explosion with debris flying around. I understand the need of a new engine for the gloom and blur effects...but now DCS is using DX 9. COmeon man! IL2 PF has better explosions than LOMAC. Shoot a tank with a cannon and u see nice ground explosions and when the tank explodes there are few random sprites of polygons which give the feeling of the tank falling apart. The fire in there is great as well. Don't tell me PF is running on DX 10. :p Yeah Poko!! I have seen that shot the day it came out. But tanks don't have the muzzle fire which I showed in that video and shot. That was what I was requesting. Also a tweaking of the colors is needed. THere needs to be higher contrast, a bit of color grading to the edges in red/dark orange in that AA fire.1 point

Cool man, my little man love paper airplanes, thanks. P.S. I love paper airplanes also, what can I say, I a big child.1 point

You seem to see things in absolutist terms when you should face it in more relative terms. Its not that its useless, its that by the time, or before you get to be able to use it, your likely to be already fired upon.1 point

Me doesnt think so. The entire problem of feeling it in rails has to do with the code rather than the hadware. Falconeers always "run away" from the fact the SIM has been made with the FM based on 2D chart data interpolation points. Its not enough to emulate flight and flight dynamic effects go missing. The biggest simptom of this is that stalls are scripted, low speed handling takes a huge toll also because the real plane is much more responsive when landing for example. The principal missing efect is boundary layer. Its not modeled and thats why the plane feels so artificial in regimes where this effect kicks in, and then FM in F4 diverges from the real thing.1 point

In reality if only one person is currently working on a new project (Modeling)and has not yet asked for others to contribute their special skills. Then you may not hear any news for awhile. Currently i have things to do in real life and Yenceri has not contacted me about any work1 point

I don't have to. I LIVE here :) Welcome Everyone, in our tiny, dusty, but hopefully friendly city! Looks like some very expected visitors are removed from the listing (like Rafale, A-10, F-15, and some) but the Finnish Hornet and the Spanish Typhoon will be great to watch! Ohh, and C-17 dynamic... Those things are HUGE. This year, our Air Force is 70 years old, so MANY airframes used by Hungary, will be displayed on static, in their old, but renewed paint schemes. These are Messerschmitt Bf-108 (no, not 9, it's 8; hovewer 109 was expected too), MiG-21BISZ, MiG-21 UTI, MiG-21MF "Cápeti"-paint, MiG-23, Szu-22, Mi-1, Mi-2, Ka-26.1 point

Here's the little details I'm talking about ... watch the yaw motion especially, subtle as it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uyAG-RMS2U Also note the landing speed. While I might recall incorrectly, I believe in AF it's very uncomfortable to land at reasonable AoA so people end up landing fast (200kts?). Both the AoA and speed are far less in this vid. IIRC, landing speed for the F-16 is something on the order of 130kts+4kts/1000lbs fuel or payload, but don't quote me on this, I barely remember it. In LOFC, the F-15C at least has some strange AoA handling issues at 'proper AoA' as well when landing. In fact it is easier to land a heavy plane in LOFC just because you attain the right AoA at higher speed and you don't have to manhandle the throttle as much - as far as my landing technique goes anyway.1 point

1. After it lands and parks the cargo bay door opens up 2. Place a tanker in the mission and give the tornado low fuel to start with.1 point

@Kosmo I know you are not really interested in LOMAC, but you really should check out the Su-25T and also the vanilla Su-25 which also has the advanced FM. I can say that just recently I think flying the Su-25T "clicked" with me and I understand it now. It was all a bit of a revelation. I'm sure we're all familiar with the concept of cornering speeds, but I think the Frogfoot allowed me even more insight. One evening while flying it, I suddenly became aware of a speed range that made the whole plane "feel right". It stopped feeling like a fat crippled pig and started feeling like a combat-worthy aircraft. This was with a full combat load and fuel, mind you. I decided to give it a try with a clean plane and 50% fuel. I could get the same results, but the power band was different. In hindsight, I think I discovered the plane's cornering speed. The really amazing thing is how different this felt than the cornering speeds in Falcon and the SFM in LOMAC. In those, sustained cornering speed seems more of a matter of glancing at the HUD and just keeping a speed in a rather sterile manner. You are rewarded with a jet than cranks its nose around faster. With the Su-25T it could better be described as a "sweet spot" :) Furthermore, I could just feel how much thrust and stick pressure I needed to keep it. I didn't have to really glance at the HUD that much. And true to sustained corner also being the fastest instantaneous corner, I could yank the plane in a very tight turn, almost on the verge of a stall, to shake a SAM. I have a funny feeling that the DCS Eagle, Hog, Falcon, Fulcrum, and Flanker are all going to feel the same way! I can vouch for this. While many here have strong feelings about what they like better and are not afraid to speak it, they're not ignorant and can understand the other point of view.1 point

You will not get any argument out of me on that statement. I just think it is time for a good update on where the projects for LOFC stand. As I said we have the A10A thank god but that appeals only to the ground pounders. There is much, much more being developed for all, terrain, airports, objects, etc. which appeal to all simmers. Just questions and for god sake don't take this as a vent, because it is not. Just a nice detailed outline of what state everything is in with maybe some possible release dates, that's all. This team has worked hard and I would never, repeat never vent on their efforts. They have given more of themselves to LOFC and ED than we can possibly imagine. How they have done it is beyond me. If they need a rest away from this then so be it. Got no problem with that. Maybe they should do just that. It must be extremely hard with free time, family etc. so maybe an nice update and let them take a break.1 point

FAST REPLY FOR THE WIN! I LOVE YOU GUYS <3 I'm going to make this epic scene where you fly over a battlefield in an a10, the actual mission is far beyond the front lines :D <3<3×100000001 point

Yes. Set for vehicle waypoint order "Attack", and press "TARGET" button in top right of the screen. Now just show which bulding you want them to destroy (you can decide should it be object or coordinates too).1 point
