  1. After checking out the 9 pages of KA50 keyboard commands I thought a Keychart might come in handy. This is un-official keychart ive created displays many of the more critical keystrokes. Its intended to be a quick referance to help with joystick profiling or inflight command options. If you think ive missed anything critical, please post and i can edit content, or anybody else with some paint skills is quite welcome to do the same with this chart. I didnt add any custom config items as i thought it would probably just confuse people more. When i do get to fly this beast i will probably consider remapping the NUMPAD to offload some Autopilot functions, as most of my views are taken over by TrackIR. In the rar file there is three pictures. One is a full page layout for those people that have access to an A3 page printer or similar, and the other two are a split layout which you can print anywhere and stick together. Link- http://files.filefront.com/KA50keychartrar/;12394660;/fileinfo.html Anyway check it out. I hope you like. ps- Ive excluded a lot of stuff to avoid clutter.

  4. Forgive the ignorance, but how does one go about setting a higher value than 6xAA in ATI Tray Tools for the 4870x2? Upon opening ATI Tray Tools, the highest value selectable is 6x as mentioned.......anything higher? Assistance appreciated. Ta :)

  7. Well in my opinion the more alternatives there are to TIR the better =) I personally chosen the track ir because i gotten it cheap through a mass order back then in IL2 Forums and also because back then it was like the beginnings of free track and it didnt work well for me. I dont know how good freetrack is right now since i own my TIR for a couple of years now and it never failed me. Anyhow in my eyes, the more competition = the better (lower) the prices!

  9. Ok...Im one who believes that you need to know it works before you try to work it. Im one of them guys who reads the manual on the john before I play with the new toy. This is the primary cause of many dumb looks on males faces for many many centuries! :D

  12. Hehe, for the 3rd time now... I was commenting on Pilotasso's #47 post in this topic, which is full of funny bits if you actually read what it is written and not what it is "supposed to be" written :) Sure, you can go on and tell me how stupid and ignorant of me that I am not able to see the "real" meaning, etc. But if someone is preaching to others (you must understand that not all readers understand/are at same level of knowledge), like he is, he should write correct and clear. Don't you think? Or is this just some 1337 fighter pilot sp33k? :) Do you think it is acceptable to write... for an example: "Speed is bad for maneuvering. This is something that escapes some of the people here" But it is not just that he misused the AoA acronym, there are other gems too... anyways... P.S. Please do not start putting again your words into my mouth how I am not getting what are consequences of high AoA. Buy my sim and check yourself if I grasp the concept of aerodynamics ;)

  16. Yes there would be someone else in this hypothetical future you talk of - but there isn't. NP aren't the only ones who could've done it, but they're the only ones that *did* do it. The reason we have 6DOF in games as it is today is due to NP. Besides which, if it's so obvious that 6DOF be implemented, why are NP still the only viable company in that area? If there's one thing we know, just as much as creating a market (like Ford) there are always plenty of people who'll jump in later and try and usurp it - why aren't there any viable competitors to NP? The best we have is FT which for some reason requires access to NP's code in order to do it - why doesn't FT provide a proper fully independent solution instead of requiring NP's code? As for Monopolies, well yes the best Capitalist minds conclude they're bad, but lack of competition is never an acceptable reason for theft. If the 6DOF market was bigger and NP was making massive amounts of cash, may be another company would take notice and produce a genuine competitor product. On your final point of low costs - FT is low cost because it uses NP's software and presence in games/sims like DCS. By way of analogy, if I plug an extension cable into someones mains electricity secretly and then let you plug into that extension for free, are you stealing electricty? I think it's clear that the household that is paying for the electricity is being robbed - NP in this case are that house, and FT is the extention cable provider. r.

  17. Okay, I'll try not to make this into a book... The trimmer button does two things, first, it removes spring pressure from the controls so that they are easier to move, and second, it temporarily interrupts the autopilot. First, the springs. On the way to the hydraulic servos, the flight controls go through a set of springs that are attached to a rod that is held in place magnetically. When the trim button is PRESSED (turning OFF trim), the magnets are deenergized, and the rods are allowed to move freely with the controls, so the springs basically float freely and offer no resistance to the pilot moving the controls. When the trim button is NOT being pressed, the magnets are energized (and trim is considered ON), so that the rods that attach to the springs no longer move, meaning that moving the flight controls will require additional force to overcome the springs. This is used to keep the controls in one place without having to keep your hands and feet on them at all times. Making small adjustments with the trim on is fine, but in most cases, when a control movement is needed, you would press the trim button, make your adjustment, and release the trim button. In heavy maneuvering, you would be pressing the trim button a lot. I have hovered an Mi-17 a few times, and I just keep the trim button pressed the entire time. Second, the autopilot. With the autpilot channels on, the autopilot send control inputs to the servos in addition to your flight controls. The autopilot sends control inputs that try to keep the aircraft generally pointed where you left it when you last trimmed. When the trim button is PRESSED, it interrupts the autopilot, so that it will not try to hold anything, allowing you to make your adjustment. When your adjustment is complete, RELEASE the trim button, and the autopilot goes back to trying to hold it where you left it. When you take these two together, it means that if you are flying along straight and level (for example), you could take your hands and feet off of the controls without worrying that the aircraft is going to try to tie the low altitude record as soon as you let go, and will continue just flying along straight and level.

Look Pilotasso, I suggest you to take some basic aerodynamics book into your hand for the sake of not making dunce out of yourself with comments like that ;) I guess I will need to check this forum more often.. it sure is nice entertainment :)

  23. These were put together for widescreens only (16:10) Although the menu was created in a 1600x1600 resolution, these were increased to 3000x3000 to minimize jagged edges in the pictures so that explains why each one is about 30 mb. Hope you enjoy it! Please report back any problems. **download link expired** but you can download the template and get a more personal version of the mainscreen http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=13&file=938&lang=en&PHPSESSID=3048d90f67bcec582e9e212f1cadc6bd Further note: I don’t think I would be creating 4:3 ratio screens since Cosmonaut seems to be heading in this front. But big thanks to him for telling me to use uncompressed version. How to Install: 1.) Check the previews on which one you like the best 2.) If you found one, simply remain it main-screen and throw it into your Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\FUI\Common folder As always: back out your original file first, and I'm not responsible for anything that may go wrong. Thanks to various sources like Ace Combat for the photos and screenshotart. Here's a small preview version 1 version 2 version 3
