  1. Provide air support to a battalion sized defensive operation. Includes singleplayer and multiplayer versions. The mission features custom made radio calls of the ground forces, make sure to listen what they have to say about the situation on the ground. The size of your operation area gives room for different approaches and the mission features several ways how the battle can unfold. This should offer some pretty good replayability. http://cid-f33d8b1019e6f4ac.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/FlexibleDefense.zip (File updated on 7. Feb with some small fixes) I am quite happy how this mission turned out. The custom radio calls are better this time around, although you should not expect professional quality. I can change my voice only so much and my accent just doesn't want to go away :) Speaking those samples is actually really difficult. I guess I said each of them around 20 times... I hope you enjoy the mission and suggestions are as always welcome.

  2. I got given a huge collection of high quality high def aircraft wallpapers and I thought I'd share. I dont know who took the pictures and I take no credit for them. I have posted a few samples below and have uploaded the complete folder in rar format to here http://www.mediafire.com/?vwl1yjzzxc9

  4. Yeah the encyclopedia is not so helpful for Ka-50 weapon performance combat employment info. I'll try to help clear some stuff up. 30mm Cannon (2A42) Thisis the cannon mounted on the Ka-50 and is loaded with 240 HE and 220 AP rounds for soft and armored targets respectively. It has low (250 rpm) and high (550 rpm) rates of fire and is typically good for a range from 800 m to 3000 m. Personally I consider this weapon to be second only to the Vikhr missiles for combat effectiveness and range. Use HE on trucks, infantry, AAA emplacements and AP on light and medium armor. 550L External Fuel Tank (Fuel Tank) Not exactly a weapon but increases the fuel load by 1100L for each pair added (compare internal fuel is 1,870L at 100%). Vikhr Anti-Tank Missile (ATGM) The longest ranged and heaviest hitting weapon in the normal inventory the Vikhr is fired in singles or in pairs and is laser guided from the Ka-50 onto the target. Range is generally 800m to 7km depending on altitude and speed. The Vikhr has fusing for ground targets (contact), air-to-air (proximity, late), and air-to-air head on (proximity, early) engagements. S-8 Rocket Launcher Pod (B8) The S-8 is a 80mm general purpose rocket carried in the B-series rocket pods at 20 rockets in each pod. Use salvos of 25% (med) or 50% (high) against area soft targets such as trucks, light armor, infantry, and fixed AAA positions. The range is 800m to about 2500m, less than the cannon. S-13 Rocket Launcher Pod (UB13) The S-8 is a 130mm general purpose rocket carried in the B-series rocket pods at only 5 rockets in each pod. The range of these should be greater than the S-8 slightly. The blast is larger but you have one-fourth as many. UPK-23 Gun Pod (UPK-23) The UB-13 is a fixed cannon pod loaded with 23mm rounds (240 rounds each pod) which have a high rate of fire. Probably best for convoy busting light armored or soft targets, close range air-to-air engagements, and attacking infantry. KMGU Dispensers (KMGU (X) ) The KMGU dispensers are loaded with submunitions of either anti-tank or GP/HE variety (96 I think) that gravity drop out over a couple seconds for a "carpet" effect bombing run. The dispensers themselves are containers and do not fall themselves but have doors that open on the bottom of the dispenser. Low rate of fire setting dispenses one at a time and med/high dispenses both 1.5 seconds after button press. The KMGU is very effective if you manage to hit the target but requires overflight of the target area. The automated WCS does not altitude restrict dispenser release. Freefall Aerial Bomb 250lb / 500lb (FAB-250 / FAB-500) The 250 and 500-pound bombs are unguided freefall HE munitions that require release parameter calculation or intuition on the part of the pilot. I believe the bombs will drop as singles in the low setting and in pairs for med/high. The automated WCS restricts weapon release beflow 200m radar altitude. EDIT: Got triple-ninja'd.

  5. without starting another discussion or should i call it flaming contest about what joystick is really the best lol =) I can say and almost all should agree on that one: You can choose from Thrustmaster, Saitek and CH Products.... You should not go for the Logitech... you dont have to buy rudder pedals.... i mean you dont have to buy a joystick either.... but every piece of hardware increases your immersion that's for sure... Track IR well as shrubbo said once you tried it (and got used to it in around 1-2 weeks) you never wanna play without it anymore!!!!) It works very very very well, and in my opinion it is worth every cent! And recommending you combat flight sims.... right now there is just DCS in my eyes =) Lock On is too arcadish.... I think that's about it for modern combat flight.... If you like WW2 setting too tho i could still recommend you the IL2 series,...

  6. Stolen? please go on. If they were stolen how come they dont have names and copyrights plastered over them or sample? Don't you kinda get the idea these were deliberately released without copyright and are open to all?.

  9. You don't have to have rudder pedals, you don't have to have sex either but ...... trackir. Once you have trackir you will not ever play a sim again that does not support it. Race and flight. Well that is at least how I see it and a lot of others I gather. Recomendation 1000%+++ Sounds 100% stupid, you can't really picture how it could possibly work as you have to keep looking at the screen anyway... until you own one then there is no going back. :)

  10. Go for the Saitek. Or at least, that's what I did. The added functionality that stick offers in comparisson to the Logitech you linked really makes it worthwhile. I don't use pedals to fly Black Shark, and I haven't had much trouble in that area with my X52. Fair enough, pedals may make yaw control easier in the long run, but I'm fairly used to flying it by "twist" of the handle for now. TrackIR, takes getting used to, but is probably a better invention than sliced bread. I used to fly without it for a long long time. Then one day decided to get it, see what all the fuss was about, and I can only say I wouldn't find flying as entertaining without TrackIR as with it. TrackIR gives you a full around view, and most of all, it gives you visual freedom so to speak. It frees up "finger workload" of operating a POV hat as well. Really, it is quite neat. Pretty hard to explain exactly how it completely changes you game experience, but it does. -Z

  16. I never said that one must do that. But yes, all your suggestions would move somebody closer to authenticity. If that is your thing, go for it. Pulling for power is more authentic than pushing. Side-mounting collective style is yet more authentic. Building a collective is yet more authentic. Where you draw the line is up to you, but arguing that pushing for power is just as authentic as pulling is wrong.

  18. I know it seems wierd, but that's correct. That's the config straight from my working (Vista) system. Shkval and ABRIS aren't "Viewports" per se.

  19. Here ya go, its in zip format as the forum software wont allow .lua extension files to be uploaded, Zip works ok, so I zipped her up and you shouldnt have any problems with it. Hope this works for you. Let us know either way if it does or doesnt work. See attached file below, if you have problems with downloading or with the zip file, then I can either send the original file aka non zip version to you in an email or host it on my server, just let me know and I will sort out something pretty quick.

  21. The rockets are typically labeled according to diameter. The B-8 is an 80mm rocket with various warheads, used as airborne artillery typically to destroy troops, light vehicles, and damage buildings. Other options are delivery of smoke markers and illumination flares. The UB-13 is a 130mm rocket launcher whose main purpose is to destroy hardened targets such as aircraft shelters, bunkers, etc. The Vikhr, as you know, is an ATGM; it features a tandem warhead for defeating explosive type armor, as well as a fragmentation belt enabling it to be used against soft targets and troops. It also features a proximity fuze for air to air work.

  27. Lets put a little perspective into this. Dunno where you're from, but where I am, dinner = $10, movie ticket = $16, popcorn+coke = $8, beer = $15, total for a cheap night out by myself = $49. This sim has provided me with many, many hours of enjoyment and will continue to provide many, many more.

  28. Too damn expensive? It's a bargain for what it contains. Games here are $80-$100, and most of them are crap. The level of detail and work that went into this is a lot more then $50, just buy it.

  34. Hello, Where I can secure to information of the minimum ranges and maximum ranges of attack of the terrestrial and naval units? These data are vital to develop battles in the Missions Editor of the Sim. Thanks  Claudio
