What is LEAVU2? Lockon External Avionics Upgrade 2.0 is a mod being developed for Fc2 LEAVU2 is a software package written in JAVA designed to be used for displaying interactive cockpit flight instruments and ingame data on external screens. OpenGL is used to render LEAVU2 2D and 3D instruments, and keyboard and mouse input is captured to allow for interactive user input. Touch screens are also fully supported, as is running the software on multiple separate computers connecting to the same game computer. ( Thank you Schizwiz for making the video! ) LEAVU2 aims to provide a high performance and low cpu usage solution for displaying these instruments realtime, at high enough framerates such that they will be performance wise indistinguishable from ingame instruments when playing. Data is sent from lockon to LEAVU2 over maintained tcp connections at high update rates, and there is support for multiple display computers connecting to the same game computer. If a connection is lost at any time, LEAVU2 will automatically try to repair that connection. One example is for example when restarting missions. There are also thoughts for supporting data input into the sim from LEAVU2 through lua commands directly to lockon, but that is currently not implemented. LEAVU2 has support for any touch screen or normal screens. Cockpit instruments can be drawn both with a GUI ( buttons etc ) and window frame, or if preferred, as a pure OpenGL display. Each display and instrument can also optionally support mouse and/or keyboard input directly, which can allow you to build a physical cockpit setup around them. Development Development of LEAVU is open source and source code is available at: http://kenai.com/projects/leavu2 Right now I'm looking for help in drawing 3d models for cockpit gauges and texturing these models. If you want to contribute to the leavu project we would appreciate all help, remember this project is fully open for anyone to view or contribute to, and it doesnt cost anything. Installation and download links Current version Leavu 2.2010.03.25 available at http://yoda.reservoirselite.com/YoPack/ Currently only manual installation available. An installer program might be created later if there is a lot of interest. Operating systems supported I have confirmed full functionality on these OSes : WinXp32 Win7 pro 32 Win7 pro 64 currently keyboard input is not supported under linux. Current projects * LEAVU steam gauges and other analogue instruments ( on pause ). At this point only has one working instrument, one half finished ADI and waiting to find people who want to model more. * LEAVU F-1x MFD project. By Yoda, GrayGhost, Moa and Hannibal This project aims to provide a mix of F-16/F-15 style MFD for the lockon F-15. Given the F-15 MPCD being very classified, and we only have a few pictures of its navigation, weapons and datalink pages, we use the F-16 MLU as a reference. This means we will get a little less powerful MFD/datalink, but this is sufficient for our purposes. We currently have the following interactive MFD pages : HSD, SMS, FCR and RWR * LEAVU datalink, provides data for the MFD project above * LEAVU threat specific TEWS/RWR sounds. Think Falcon4 how it has specific threat sounds depending on what threat type it sees. Leavu2 has this same capability, to replace the ingame RWR sounds with a much wider and realistic variety of threat sounds. You will need to provide the audio files yourself however. If you want to contribute with your own LEAVU module. Then please do so! make it happen :) .1 point

Game developer are we? Well send ED your plan on how they can implement such a feature with a simple patch and I'm sure they'll do it ;). Now I'm in no way a programmer but I do recognise that there is no such thing as just adding a few new screens, their would be a fair amount of coding to be done in the background as well. There is an awful lot of stuff that the communtiy/ED themsleves want to add to DCS, it's going to take time and we need to have patience. Actualy IRL it's the pilots who produce their flight plans in the first place after/during the briefing phase, as well as add threat and additional map data (such as FLOT, kill boxes etc). They then load this onto their brick with they then plug into the jet on the ramp on every aircraft type I've worked on/come into contact with. As for a loadout screen, well actually IRL pilots themselves have essentially no input in what weapons they will carry for a specific mission. These things are decided at command level to comply with many factors including RoE & desired effect on target. Just because a certain weapon would be the most effective for a specific target, doesn't nessesarily mean that it would be available. Of course, this being a computer game we can and do have such luxuries. But again we need to have patience, it'll come. :D1 point

Would be great if it could be tracked to an opensource or likewise. I got the pic but since it was sent without a note if I could post it or not I must treat it as my eyes only. I made the misstake some times back to mess up some of my references and I can't make the same misstake twice :-) If its public avaible (ignore spelling please :-) I could post the original reference pic I made for reference Thx Chibawang1 point

to yoda, the data i have posted is directly taken from the simulation. no closure speeds taken in account, this is only the missile itself in its ballistics, like a bullet shot ba a sniperrifle. period. and we have tested it all the same way, we had a certain point over the ground, launched the missle and used ingame and tackviews for multiple methods to analyse the missiles ballistics in the game. you are right when you say that the range over ground should be shorter do to the fact that there is nothing that comes to the effekt of the equation. but the data is taken direktly from the simulation, no need to fuss about, cause i can prove it with tackviews. i can alos set for you a reference point on the ground and you can maesure the tangent distance between the 2 points and you have the alt too, 12000m, then you can calculate by simple 3 grade math the distance the missile traveled, and in addition you can also see the speeds and can measure the time the missile flew. if you need more prove thena tackview, well then ....... my ..... cause nothing hard can shock then the facts the simulation gives. i have not programmed anything cause i do not know how, like you do, what i also would not do, cause i can satisfy myself with what ED gives to us. just give me a few hours then i have the tackviews done, maybe also as a vidoe on youtube, in which you can see both missiles fly at the same screen to have a comparison, and to prove that the diffrence between both missiles is in lockon, way greater then 5%-10% just give me a little time and then i maybe, cause i am sick of the argueeing that i might be the dump ass, and that i am full of shit, provide the document to the whole community, so that everybody can check for themselfs, and see what a bukllshit this is we did in 2 month. yoda, you want to tell me that this work is shit? believe me, the grafics from ED are nothing compared to the things we figured in that time, the graph shoes what? the flightpath of a r27er, lol, funny, cause that not how it flys for example at an altitude of 12000m. just to give you an inside to our squad, we are not just a bunch of little fighterjokes and idiots. we have nmore knowledge and resource options in our virtual squad then we tell. we know what we talk about. to the 5%-10% of difference, well thats what we also calculated in the preperations. now compare the fired r27er in 7500m to the r27et, or at an alt of 12000m i give a damn shit about the alt you want to test i can give you prove that the range diffrence of the r27er and the r27et is greater then 5-10% now just compare the times we figured. the diffrence between 54sec. and 123sec is 5-10%? sorry, the speed is about the same when the burntime of 11sec has ended, so both should, do to your 5-10%, fly nearly the same time, or at least the r27et should fly, when we take 10% diffrence, a time of about 110sec. you see the diffence, 110sec minus 53sec make all together a diffrence of 57sec, which is by far way more then 10%. so just simple math proves that you have never really tested anything in lomac. sorry to say it with these hard words. but you will see for yourself when the prove is online and everybody is able to see it for themselfs. @gg: # ►R27et Infrarot mittlere Reichweite (ALt. 10000m) - Max. - Zurückgelegte Distanz nach dem Brennvorgang = 12Km OG - Entfernung zum Flugzeug nach Brennvorgang = 8,4Km - Geschwindigkeit der Rakete direkt nach dem Brennvorgang = 4130Km/h - (manöverspeed = 1000Kmh) Distanz OVG = 30Km Distanz Flugzeug-Rakete = ca. 17Km Flugzeit = 45Sek that are the data of the r27et we figured in game at alt 10000. it is about the same when you take the closure in account, so that sums up with your data, but now here is the data of the r27er which is only 5-10% greater in range how you and yoda said it. --- 3.12 ►R27er Semiaktiv (ALT. 10000m) - Max. Range = ca. 65Km - effective Reichweite mit hoher Trefferwarscheinlichkeit zwischen 30Km u. max. 50Km - Brenndauer des Motors = 11 Sek. - Zurückgelegte Distanz nach dem Brennvorgang = 12Km OG - Entfernung zum Flugzeug nach Brennvorgang = 8,4Km - Geschwindigkeit der Rakete direkt nach dem Brennvorgang = 4160Km/h - (manöverspeed = 1000Kmh) Distanz OVG = 51Km Distanz Flugzeug-Rakete = ca. 28Km Flugzeit = 1Min 20Sek see the diffrenc ein time and distance travelled over ground. the et travels 30km over ground at that alt, right thats less then 40km. but the r27er travels nearly twice the time and 51km at same burntime and final speeds. twice the time and 21km more, by a total of 51km and 30km, is way more then 5-10%. do the math and find out how much more it is. and thats unrealitstic, you named it with you approximities of 5%-10%. make the math, i can prove it to you on all altitiudes, that Ed has trimmer the r27er up, or the r27et down. only one of both has been done. now comes the question to me, which was done. i have read things about russian weapons that tell me, that the r27et was trimmed down, no dupt about it.1 point

I've no idea what was the problem with downloading from the starforce web site. I got the file with the first attempt. It's attached to the message. (File is intact, I've specially verified it). EDIT: There is a couple of reports of the successful launch of the FC CD version on W7. 1 2. We cannot confirm them, but you may try yourself. sfdrvup.zip1 point

I just got mine 2 days ago except I got the f-16 version with toe brakes. I am so far very impressed with them and they were 100% upgrade for me compared to the CH Pro USB pedals I was using. They provide a very precise smooth output. The only downside I have found other than having to order from Germany, it is a bit lighter than I would like altho as previously stated they do include velcro to attach and support screws for permanent placement. Also the toe brakes are not differential. They are simply on/off, but realistically except for Microsoft Flight Simulator, I havent found differential braking to be of any use. The other downside is the price. For me tho it was a 1 time upgrade well worth the find. The company was good enough to customize mine at no extra charge. Normally a sister company makes the usb version, but since I could not get ahold of them, they made a usb version for me and had it painted black per request. Excellent service.1 point

Very interesting - I also got a 35,7kb archive - although the download first reported that it was a much larger. The older one, FC, uses a different StarForce solution than DCS.1 point

The battle continues on the ground. The insurgents started using the AA gun to attack the armored vehicles entering the village. Time to take it out before they do any more damage. Rounds on target, and she is burning. Little clean up and we are done. Wiped out this threesome on top of a building. One took out a BTR with an RPG before I could get the shot off. We lost three armored vehicles and one helicopter in this attack. I hope it was worth the price payed in blood. Turning to RTB, I start to hear rounds hitting my aircraft, I look out the left side and see a small group of insurgents that watched the entire battle unfold below. Guess they wanted some revenge! Took a little damage. I roll out and drop flares, in hopes that if a SAM is launched, it will miss. Once safe, I turn and return fire taking out six more insurgents. Time to get my damaged bird home before some thing else happens. Made it back in one piece, sort of....1 point

So wrong! :D - if survive for long enough to expend your laser, get a better mission designer - if you're out of targets before you've spent your lazor get a better mission designer ;)1 point

You see on this occasion I don’t have an obligation to make a point or be responsible for any particular statements I make, in terms of sorting out the organised air combat. I play it I know it. You might ask what my problem is, but then how did you find one in the first place. EthereaIN, I don't disagree with your comment, but is it all tied to the classified stuff?1 point

I wish: must have: - better clouds, its looking horrible... in Black Shark too - better and more realistic flight Model... pleaaaaase the aerobatic teams wait for - better sounds + pilot sounds - better looking smoke and a free color setting - better lights (look and flashing etc.) can have: - better ground textures (but the mods are good enough) - more radio chatter... its so quiet in the air... - more aircrafts flyable... (the high quality aircrafts for fun like f-18, and more) - raindrops on the glass... (for Black Shark please so we must use the windscreen) - better looking sky... like better clouds more clouds better lightning... - refueling in the air also in multiplayer available thats all i wish =)1 point

TEWS measures the missile distance but instead of bars like in SPO, you have distance from the threat icon to TEWS center cross...it works fine. When the threat is touching the center cross perimeter means that the missile (providing it's a AR in pitbull) is at 1km away from you. Touching te center cross perimeter is equal to 1 dark bar for SPO. Consequentely, it is possible to estimate a pitbull missile in TEWS and therefore judging the best moment for a last ditch maneuver like High G break into the missile, barel roll or such moves...1 point

Prop is can be seemed at the front of this 'flying trimmer'. You know these kinda light weight machines with a strong prop engine can do everything in the air. The elevators and ailerons are usually placed at the back side of the model, so at this angle (you see on video) they are not so clear to be noticed)1 point

If you are flying a russian plane, in the search phase it's better probably to use the ППС mode on your Radar. This gives you a better range of detection. You also need to scan the entire area in front of you. Point your antenna to the left, check the elevation, then center, and right in a contineous loop, so that you don't miss any targets that are not exactly in front of you. When you see a target, first you should make sure if he's alone, or there are more in close proximity. So you don't lock the bandit just yet. But try to remember his position/spd/alt. Look out for other bandits, and when you're already close enough to engage and fire you're weapons, then you should lock and fire. Depending on the weapons you use, there is a different strategy you may employ, but basic advices are: - After firing, point your nose off the target(but try to maintain the lock), don't just proceed ahead at full speed. - Watch your SPO warning system. It will give you valuable information on what's the enemy doing and the weapons he may be using against you. - Don't get too close if you're not sure what is happening, better be safe then sorry. My personal advice is to disengage and extend at a range of 15km or more to the bandit. This keeps your escape window open, any further and it shrinks significantly. - If you're alone, do not engage multiple bandits, you may hit one, but you'll probably also get shot down. The best advice is to join a well established online squad, flying the type of plane you fly. They'll probably teach you all about Air to Air Combat.1 point

This makes sense to me.... maybe a ED-developer can canfirm that? :worthy: So. After each rangemeasuring and vikhr-launch I have to cool down the laser for 5 seconds. After 16 rangemeasurings or vikhr-launches I have to cool it down for 30 minutes. This all I can do 5 times. Right?1 point
