Why even post then AS? Your first post didn't provide anything but trolling, or maybe trying to increase your post count? If you dont like it, at least come up with some constructive criticism... Or better yet, just dont post at all. To claim 'I was just honest' is beyond stupid...2 points

Hi all, So, for weeks I've been wondering why when I engage auto hover, en route auto pilot etc etc my chopper goes a bit crazy and refuses to stay still, which understandably makes targeting very difficult. If you, like me, find that despite your trimming and frustrating attempts at making it sit still dont work, try these steps which will hopefully make the helicopter more manageable. Step one: Before you try to enter a hover, press CTRL + ENTER, you will see your current trimmed inputs, center all of these so that they are in the middle (excluding of course, throttle/collective!) Step two: Bring the helicopter under control, it will be easier to bring to a standstill now that you've recentred the trim (but bear in mind you will need to keep control of the stick), you should find the ka50 not resisting you as much, and it should also settle into an easy hover. Step three: Initiate auto hover; you should now have a spinning/accelerating/crashing free ka-50 ready to practice whatever it is you're doing! I realise this stuff is extremely simple to most of you, but I've entirely overlooked it as the reason for my heli moving all over the place, I wrongly presumed that the auto hover would compensate for my trim settings, and centring (in fact I believe there is a button to simply reset trim?) has made my flying significant easier. Simply resetting the trim has also made landing/rocket runs much easier! If there is somebody here new enough to not know this stuff, I hope it helps! Conure1 point

Although I occasionally do reset the trim I only do it as a last resort when things have gone completely doolally. My advice to you would be: Step One: Make sure your flying at a roughly constant altitude and flight director is not engaged and your using at least 3 autopilot channels (altitude hold isn't required). Step Two: Press and hold the trim button (best to have this in a comfortable and easily accesable place on your joystick), balance the helecopter, use small smooth inputs and don't try and decelerate too quickly. Once you have it in a controlled deceleration and level (horizontally) let go of the trim button and centre the stick. The deceleration will continue and you can go hands off. Step Three: Make small none trimmed or trimmed inputs as required to knaw out your speed to below 10 indicated speed on the hud. Use trimmed inputs if your decelerating to quickly, slow the deceleration down so the closer you get to 0 the slower your decelerating. Step Four: When your below 10 engage autohover and let go of the stick. The helecopter will balance itself out now. When wanting to leave auto hover remember that your last trimmed command was to slow down, so getting out of a completely stationary auto hover will have you going backwards within in a few seconds. So cancel the auto hover, disengage the altitude hold (enabled with auto hover) and put some forward stick in. Now use step two to get your trimming right for forward flight. Keep the trimmer in as long as you require until you have it all ballanced correctly. The biggest trick to learn is the trimmer and to keep it pushed in as long as you need to get it balanced. Once you have learnt to do that it all becomes a lot easier. Also remember that below 10 ft/M the auto hover function does not work and cause you to get into dificulties.1 point

Bob doesn't come from a hi-fi sim, it's more of a lack of understanding that a flight sim is what you make of it - while he's right about the provided atmosphere, what makes a flight sim realistic is your own discipline.1 point

You might be able to go quite a bit higher than 3GHz, however 3 is a nice number to start with. I ran at that for quite a while until someone suggested 3.2 was a better multiplier setting.1 point

Just did more testing/playing, for once the re-arm added fuel tanks onto the wings, yay. I was surprised, but its just my luck, I make a post moaning about it and lo and behold the next time I fly the tanks get added during a re-arm :music_whistling: That being said, they still dont fill up with fuel. This is what happened. I was taking out a convoy, a line of about 8 sniper bmp2's at the end of the convoy opened up on me and killed one of my engines, I was fully loaded with 2 fuel tanks, 2 58s, vikhrs, phanta pod and some 13s plus ecm pods on each wing. I was losing height so I had to ditch the fuel tanks and the s13s, with those gone I started to get some decent height. I landed at sochi with about 1800KG of fuel left, I re-armed and for the first time since I have had fc2 installed, I got new tanks, it auto brought my fuel status upto 3500 something KG. I then proceed to fill the main tanks as I was thinking that the 3500KG was the remainder of my internal tank ( roughly half empty ) plus the 2 external tanks, but upon trying to fill up my main internal tank I still only manage to get a maximum of 3700KG of fuel for both external and internal. So, even though the fuel tanks respawned for once, the fuel situation regarding them+internal tank is being confused somewhere and basically doesnt work as it should. I started the mission with 5100KG, 2x external & 1x internal, but re-arm/re-fuel cant give me more than 3700KG of fuel regardless if I get new external tanks or not. I can understand what ED are trying to do here with lockon FC 2 and the DCS series, but some of these bugs are really annoying and so prominent that it begs the question what are the testers doing ? having a fun time playing the game and not really testing ? or is the testing procedures not as strict as they should be ?. I wont speculate asto why these obvious bugs get through, it might be due to something else entirely. I ask because, if I can find bugs, and I take 6 - 12 month breathers away from flying at a time, and for me to find a bug, it really does have to be right in front of my face, that doesnt say much about the testing procedures and or testing team, because I dont get too deep into this sim, I basically just skim the surface, so if these bugs are on the surface and easy for me to spot and I am dumb, then they really should of been found much much earlier and, before ED put their name to a product and started selling it to the public. Its just a pity that judging by the previous history from Lockon FC DCSBS, that A10C will still be broke 2 years down the line. Its a pity, but ED have a reputation for releasing really buggy software, its a fact, I still buy their software regardless as I like what they make even though it is buggy, also I am a glutten for punishment, but it doesnt put me off of buying there stuff, I just wish a little more time went into actually trying to polish the game to make it as obvious bug free as possible. I know some people wont like what I just wrote, I am not cracking up with ED, I am just stating the obvious, I enjoy there sims very much and have helped ED along with a good few hundred spondoolicks from the stuff that I bought from them, but what puts me off is the incessant bugs, the backdoor fixes that users need to do in some cases, the tweaking of files just to get the game to run semi decently etc etc. It doesnt HAVE to be like this all the time does it ?1 point

Jammers. ;) If there is a jammer in your scan zone, it will default back to RWS mode.1 point

Well first and foremost thing you have to remember is that AIM-120 has onboard radar and once within certain range it will go autonomus and the F-15 pilot can abort and fly away from you/your missile while you have to keep lock till (hopefully) impact so there's the first and major advantage they have over you. I tend to never shoot at R-max unless I am high and targeting AI transporter/AWACS etc as they do not evade as fighter/humans do (if you fire at R-max and target starts evading the missile will just not hit as it won't have energy to keep following the manouvering target) or I am just after making the guy busy a bit so take a shot at longer range. Different people react/fly in defferent way and more experienced one will never get hit by missiles fired at such long range... but there are always exceptions and then again sometimes even experienced people make a mistake Why you can't keep radar in TWS mode I don't know, could it be you are accidentally pressing it twice hence going back to SCAN mode? If you are in TWS mode and lock a radar contact, when you unlock it will switch back to SCAN by default and radar elevation/scan zone and expected target range will be reset also.1 point

I like this idea. I'd take it a step further and increase the post-op interaction by having the pilot (optionally) enter their own BDA, based on their own estimates as is done in the real world. Then it could even be a mini-game to see how accurate your are. In a persistent-battlefield campaign such human-pilot feedback could be used to inform the subsequent missions (if we worked on a mission assignment structure like in EECH). If the BDA were inaccurate then folks might think they are going to mop up AAA on an column while really two SA6s survived the last attack. Would be interesting. I also agree with an earlier comment to increase the spotlight on the FAC role, especially for the A-10. It is a very effective FAC platform. In FC2 the best we can do is compromise with an underwhelming loadout that includes smoke. I can never load up the A-10 as heavily as can be done in the real world in FC2. I hope that changes too. I should be able to bring a couple smoke pods, 4 Mavs, and even a couple Mk82s along for the ride, but I never see that as a choice.1 point

I probably should have used a quote, to make it clearer that I was referring to what Subs17 had written... The part about ground talk channel, and modeling the battery usage in particular, caused me to recall the 'parable of Janes A-10' (specifically the 'feature creep'). As for the other parts of the thread, it isn't particularly difficult to understand. I will point out though that I often do not automatically accept declarations from people who are not either part of the dev team, or the testing team, when it comes to the ease of adding something to the simulation code. That is not intended as a slam, or a slight upon whatever expertise they may have... it is simply based upon: 1. The knowledge that simulator code of this order tends to be a large squirming beast, and that additions/changes often have unintended consequences. 2. Those of us on the outside are less than fully informed about what is in the simulator code. Personally, I *think* TS3 integration/support (or possibly Mumble) *probably* would be fairly easy to add, or at least provide hooks for... [and could be a very nice feature!]. However, I'm not in a position to declare that as a fact. If they can do something like that without significantly delaying the rollout, then heck yeah, go for it! If that doesn't appear (To E.D.) to be the case, then I'm content to trust their business decision(s).1 point

Oh, Im so sorry AS, I didn't realize you were posting all this to defend the freedom of speech. That you had to post such an honorable and honest comment against a new member to the community, in order to preserve the freedom of speech and show him what the community is made of. This kind of posting and attitude from such a senior member as yourself, is sickening and your only making a fool out of yourself. There's a big difference in saying something is not good and giving advice on how to make it better compared to just throwing out harsh and trolling comments. Honesty is one thing, but at least I would like to keep the ED forums civilized. But, Im sure your way of treating new members will make the community grow and flourish....1 point

actually i was impressed with you and GG's analysis up until you both started to get hostile, and yeah i learned a few things as well...however, you lost me when you stated i need to law off some of there conspiracy theories and just flat out started to disrespect those who agreed with what i said. was it warranted? no. do i care?
