  3. Although there are a few issues I'm not happy about in beta 4, it is now available for download. Please note that it is still a beta and NOT a release candidate. Two versions of the patch are available: - Beta 3 to Beta 4 Patch. If you have a Beta 3 already installed, you can apply this patch to it. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2364&scr=products&lang=en - Beta 4 full install. This is a full version of the beta and should NOT be installed over a previous version. (RECOMMENDED) http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=products&end_pos=135&lang=en As in previous betas, download the setup and ALL bin files to a folder. Then run the setup file and follow instructions. Some other notes: 1- Performance improvement for beta 4 was that all units now have Levels Of Detail (LOD). In later betas we'll optimize other areas, particularly effects and EDM models that are having a big, negative impact. However, some things will always hurt frame rate like TGP / Mav video (have to render the game a 2nd or 3rd time!) or viewing high poly objects (like A-10C, F-15, etc.) up close. No way around that. 2- We know that there are cluster bomb issues and they are still being worked on. We've had to redo much of this code to support new features like HOF and this has resulted in a buggy weapon... for now. 3- When you run the game for the first time, you will likely have a long (4-15 min) white screen while the shaders are compiling. The game has not crashed. 4- We hope to have a change log the week of the Dec 27th. 5- We hope to have a quick beta 5 available before the end of the year. 6- If you have a font problem in the GUI, disable AA in your graphics card properties. 7- Some of our testers have reported installer issues. If you encounter this, we apologize and ask that you wait for beta 5. 8- To confirm beta version, please check file dates in your A-10C dir. The GUI indication is not correct. If you encounter a problem, please for the love of god first consult the FAQ at: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58551 Happy Holidays, Matt

  6. Not tested, but in the folder "DCS A-10C Beta\Scripts\Database\vehicles" take a look at lua config files, specifically the variable "GT.WS.maxTargetDetectionRange" seems to be range. I found this values and apparently match the wikipedia, data in meters: 2B11 120mm 'Mortar' = 10000 SPG 2S1 'GVOZDIK' = 40000 SPG 2S3 'AKATCIA' = 40000 SPG 2S9 'NONA' = 30000 SPG 2S19 'MSTA' 152mm = 40000 SPG M109 'Paladin' = 40000 MLRS 9K51 'GRAD' = 21000 MLRS 9K58 'SMERCH' = 70000 M270 MLRS = 32000

  11. Hi, guys, I've visited once or twice, but just registered for the forum now. I hope this isn't common knowledge, but I had to really look. I just got a decent throttle/stick for Christmas, so it's time to get this game. No stores have games anymore; no Steam; no Impulse. After discovering that Ubisoft was their publisher, I dug in their website. You can download vanilla Lock on at Ubisoft's online store at: http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_US/pd/productID.180159900/sac.true Hope this helps somebody. Cheers.

  12. Download complete, now seeding at a meaty 40-50kb/s :D Yeah yeah, i know it's a pathetic upload speed, but it's the maximum i can achieve with my ISP, and anything is better than nothing right? :) Oh BTW, the improvements in terms of FPS over beta 3 are staggering from what i've seen so far on my PC, i've put all my settings to nearly highest (apart from the SSAA option) and it's smooth as :)

  24. Traduccion "Have you noticed that the mouse has 2 modes (Alt-C) in A-10, the first is a yellow cross that serves to push the buttons but not watching free (useful for those using the pod have a joystick or tracker), the other way is to look to the mouse, but not push the buttons, which means you have to ALT-C binder handy for all the time moving his head toward the console, change mode (alt-c ) And press the select button and then remove that way to move his head again. My idea is specifically to add a third type of mouse which is a mixture of the other 2 modes mentioned above. We have the yellow cross clicking but when you move the mouse to move the head with the long yellow cross in the center, so you can look at and clicking at the same time, this obviously including the zoom mouse wheel. What do you think?, I think this could be synthesized using the buttons in the cockpit." "google" es una buena herramienta para traducir pero no es perfecta, no tiene cultura general ni puede leer entre lineas para diferenciar una traduccion literal de una simbolica pero sirve. esta traduccion es literal y yo no toque nada asi que si te sirve o queres corregirla esta a tu disposicion colega.

  26. Hey Goldfinger, I have had my Pro Flight pedals for almost three years now and pretty much what Atomic and Topdog said is how they are. My two cents on the moving of the assembly is it only real draw back but if you can find a way to secure them or brace them against something, but IMO is not a big deal. I just position my feet closer to my body that way I have downforce on them, because I am on a hardwood floor. I have had my pedals come off the their track twice since I had them. It wasn't during flight though. I usually rest my feet on them when I am doing my normal computing when I havent moved them off to the side. It was my fault that they came off track, cause I may have been a little excessive in the resting of my feet. But it is a easy fix, just pull the 10 or 15 screws off the bottom cover and put the trains back on the track essentially. what happens is they just get twisted off the rails at the stopping points. Reinstall the cover and screws and your all set. Like I said it was excessive/quick movement that made them jam. Hope this helps, Scout

  27. Hey goldfinger. I have the saitek pro pedals. I have had them for over a year. It really depends on the type of carpet you got about the slideing issues. Mine do not slide allot but do a little. There are always little mods you can do to make sure they dont move. Now when flying BlackShark I rest my feet on the pedals all the time. I have a little dead zone set so I do not notice any difference when a take my feet off them and then put them back on. Also there is a wheel that adjusts the tension on the pedals. And finally I would say I use my pedals on a daily basis and have never had them jam up on me. Hope this helps.

  28. 1. Depends on your arrangement and leg-room, you can/do rest your feet in the footwells all the time but if you have the leg-room then you'll only press them down when you want. 2. Mine do a little sometimes, but not by much, you can probably try and eliminate it by propping something between the pedals and the wall/fittings behind them, any movement they do isn't forceful enough to do damage, it's quite gentle if it moves at all. 3. Can't say, haven't had mine a while yet to fairly tell. Unless you mean after a while within a single gameplaying session, in which case, never had anything like that before but sounds like what happens when using the new BS trim method and not getting your device(s) axis back to center again. With these pedals and a TMWH, not had anything like that happen and I expect it's more prone on devices with jittery centers that need deadzoning.

  29. i7 920 has 20 multi and 21 with turbo on, right? If so with 1333MHz DDR3 you can go up to 166 bclock and 21 multi and you are already on your Max overclock of 3.486MHz. RAM normally does not overclock well at all so I would not go any higher... if you have good motherboard you could get 1600MHz DDR3 and your bclock could go as high as 200 so you could reach 4GHz but you will need better cooling, preferably water cooling. Maybe to spend money on all the extras is not worth for you the extra 0.5Ghz

  30. I am no expert but it sounds like you have good cooling in your case already. I couldn't get to 3.2Ghz without the extra cooling. My H50 drops about 25-30'c of my CPU temp at 100% load with Prime 95. I have 3.6Ghz at the mo and it runs under 70'c at 100% load so I reckon you would be good for 4Ghz+. As for RAM, someone with some knowledge on here will know.

  31. Ok, first off I'm working on video tutorials, so bare with me on a text/image tutorial. Here's the "big picture" for now: To get a JFAC/JTAC working during a mission you have to look at a few important things. Ultimately decide how the player learns of the JFAC and target locations. In the examples below, the players receives a message that informs him/her that enemy armor is approaching and that they are to proceed to UTM coordinates. In the below picture the message is triggered by a "trigger" at the pilots waypoint 2 - not visible. The message in the screen shot is in the message box on the right side of the SS. It gives the player UTM coordinates; you have to manually input coordinates in this manner. In my mission I have the JFAC "enabled" after the player reaches the the "trigger" labeled Activate Firefly. I don't want the player doing anything until directed to do so. In fact everything you see, is actually hidden from the player - initially. The trigger at Steerpoint 2(not visible) will also activate the attacking force. You can see by this trigger that I don't want ANYTHING in this area to operate before the right time. To get to the details about the JFAC: There are a couple of values that HAVE to be enabled for the JFAC to work, and they have to be done in the right order. First off, you need to assign it a "callsign" and a "frequency." If you click on the unit, in this case a Armored HMMVV, you will see an Advanced button on the bottom right of the page. Click ADD to get your options: The above images go over a couple of the options. You do not have to set your JFAC to immortal or invisible. I did in this mission because I want the JFAC to NOT be engaged/killed by the enemy and give directions to the player. Your frequency you can be set to any number, at least that I've found. It does have to be an FM frequency if you select FM or an AM frequency if you set it to AM. The callsign will be selected from a drop down menu; pick any one of the options. After you have setup the JFAC, it's time to tell it what target you want it to have the palyer engage. When you click "Perform Task" then select "JFAC - ATTACK GROUP." Upon doing so, you can click on the unit/group you want to tell the player to attack. At this time if you assign more than one target, which you can, for the JFAC to instruct the player to attack your game will crash. If you need to have more than one group attacked, then you set the first JFAC to deactivate once it's targets are destroyed by the player. You then have a new JFAC Activate once the group is dead and it can be assigned to direct the player to another set of targets. This is a small work around for the time being, I'm sure it will be fixed in the future. In the weapons drop down list, you can specify the type of weapon. You can specify simply guided or unguided. You can select GBU's Mavericks, etc... I leave it on auto so it's simply done and I don't have to worry about it, unless the mission calls for it. If the mission is at night, the JFAC will automatically activate it's laser designator. With triggers, you can have smoke appear at or near your target, to simulate the JFAC marking it. You can have this as a Radio Menu option - I'm still learning those. You can also have flares, explosions, etc... appear anywhere for your mission based on triggers/flags.

  32. Excellent review, I tottaly agree. Here's my 2 cents: Yes the throttle is big, that is why I like it. And everything is metal. And heavy, yet again that is why I like it. I actually love only looking at it. Because it is a piece of art IMO. So far the only little problem is the muscle fatique on my trigger fingers :) I might get muscle fatigue on the right hand too. I guess A-10 pilots are rough guys anyway. The only thing that really needs to be fixed is the slew control (microstick). It is way too sensitive, but I guess DCS will be fixing this for the A-10 simulation. Until then the slew control is taken over by the Microphone Switch.
