Thanks PlainSight Here are a couple of pages from the guide as a preview. ALL the info has been taken from the game files. Plainsight's A5 condensed version... This is part 1 and only covers what i consider to be A10c OPFOR threats, i.e non Nato stuff. I'll do part 2 later. Enjoy. EDIT: One thing I forget to say.. it's a ground threat guide only. http://rapidshare.com/files/449522219/Warthog_A-10C_Photobook_final..pdf At this time i am a "rookie" Mission Builder flying the -already fabulous- simulator: DCS Warthog A-1O C. I found it rather time-spending though always needing to bring up the "Encyclopedia" to see what i wanted to put on the map. Further more: firstly, some items of the Encyclopedia can't be put on the map (example : ATZ-60). Secondly, names in the "Ecyclopedia" are different than the names in the "Mission Editor". Thirdly: as a "rookie", i hadn't a clue what an "APC M 1025 HMMWV" or a "SAMSA6 KUB LN 2P25" looked like. So i made this "Photo book" for quick reference. It is based on the "final release" version and meant for "rookies" like myself . It covers ALLitems as shown in the "Mission Editor",in the exact order and with their exact designation name (except for "Weapons": see there) Feel free to print it, use it and share it with others, but only on a non-commercial basis. I will take no responsability though for possible errors in this "Photo book". Kind regards, and a big thanks to ED and to all who made this simulator possible. Tigertooo PS:some chaps downloaded an earlier (beta 4) version of some 10 days ago. Delete it as the images were too small and it contained a couple of errors11 points

Hi, I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the Screenshots and Videos thread. Sorry if it's the wrong section I just thought it might be good to have a dedicated thread for A10C videos. Mine doesn't really diserve its own thread so...feel free to post yours :) Since I messed up the conversion, if you really want to I suggest you watch it directly on YouTube, 1080p available. But nothing happens in this vid, more a comtemplative one3 points

I thought I would release the beta version of my airfield diagrams for DCSW as the charts are at the point where I need to print a copy and then work my way through the airfields to get the rest of the detail right. The radio frequencies, elevations, directions and measurements should be accurate with the mission editor the F10 view and the A10C's internal MAGVAR. I'll do the release as a separate thread to the design discussion to avoid the release getting lost in that thread. I'm working through tower placement and taxiway labelling in addition to points of interest however a lot of the Russian airfields dont have the taxiways labelled which complicates the matter, I'm thinking it may be worth waiting until the DCS release prior to revisiting this. I've also added references to the ADF's from the BS manual and if the interest is there I will release a Russian air force version with Metric measurements once the maps are finished. If anyone picks a bug or has some reference notes for the airfields let me know. UPDATE: Updated airfield name plus some error corrections For those of you printing this, I recommend printing in color to A5 directly, as the map lines blend better in color then gray-scale, however you can print 2 per page on A4/letter Airfield Diagrams.pdf2 points

Younster...I am 77 and was a flight simulator engineer in the aerospace industry for many years also have worked on the Nellis EW range and I posses avalid FAA pilots license with over 600 hrs of real time. I love this simullator and as a "pro" think it is an outstanding accomplishment of the programmers and desighners......we may be old but definately not "out of it" Best wishes for happy flying.......Rogueone2 points

Neither of these is a way--in flight--to control volume of sim itself...I suppose (?) ~Just another on my list of noobminutia [This is coming from someone who thought you were supposed to let out a flare at the end of the runway just before landing...did this for a year in F4, literally...couldn't figure out why, though...] Of Course, there's also... Land GEAR vs. Gear up/down (I'm lost on that one.) Months ago, I got confused by "take off trim" assuming the former was a verb not a substantive adjective (which ought to be one compound word--no?) Then there's HUD color --which I assume is the intensity (brightness) of color as in the switch located on UFC? --haven't really gotten that one to function. --Night/Day seems to offer the only other color option for me. I'm left to guess that the termCommunication menu has nothing to do with communicating with what is accessible via mic switches ...I've assigned a key, but it's significance remains a mystery... can't find it in the manual :book: Anyway... Help, as always, would be greatly appreciated. ~Moosh1 point

It's been pointed out to me that the SA-3 is missing. This is not listed in the in game encyclopaedia and therefore I had no info on it. When i make Part 2 and a Target Guide as planned i'll see if i can add it by finding the relevant data, unless ED fancy adding it or providing the info :)1 point

I've given it a test spin already. The accuracy of the driving model is phenomenal. And the sound effects of the tow bar clanging down on the tow clamp has to be heard to be believed. I'm excited that this will lead to a long line of Ground Service vehicles. Personally, I'm hoping the Lav Cart will quickly follow the release of the Tow Vehicle...1 point

What thread title? :megalol: Yes -I confirmed it does indeed work on the release version. I will further assume that your comments aside, it is indeed the yellow '+' you are referring to. That being the case, rest assured that it does indeed work. PEBCAK error?1 point

No the orange one. Did you read the thread title? LAlt-C works in Blackshark but not in A-10. Did you try it before you posted it?1 point

Get ready to be sorely disappointed because th e exterior of the real things are severely weathered and neglected. All of the military jets I've seen up close were riddled with chipped paint and hasty patch job aroud seams. It was as if the crew couldn't careless, probably rightly so, about the exterior and just paint whatever coat of pain on when need be. And if you've never been to an airshow then I'll tell you I've found most "fighter" pilots to be unpleasant. A few are down right racists. Perhaps European fighter pilots are more professional and not a bunch of bigots as the Americans? And when you go to an airshow don't forget to visit pilots that fly huey and whatnot because they deserve your attention as well and they are much nicer too. If you want to see beautiful war planes go to a show with real WWII Warbirds. Years of love, sweat and bruise knuckels have gone into making them airwothy.1 point

Hmm.. Just to make it clear, I haven't owned any of these (but why would that stop me from commenting, right? :) ). But, I've had the same dilemma when I was searching for a joystick for a friend (bought him a Saitek Cyborg Evo) and something light for myself to take with me on business trips and for space sims (ended up with Saitek Aviator - a bit stiff, I remember it being lighter, but seems kinda stiff now; too light, has dual throttle and mode switch, but lacks the shift switch which I would like to have since it has only one hat). I actually remember the Evo being better made, but lacking the additional buttons and switches. I've read very bad things about these Logitech joysticks - that their cheap pots usually go bad after only a few months use. Cyborg X Stick also didn't seem to be very well made from what I have read as it seem to develop freeplay and have a tendency to break - I've seen one in person in some shop and it looked cheap and was in fact broken (on the other hands some comments were also positive). I've used Cyborg Evo and it seems like a precise and well made product (quality wise), I only wished it had a mode switch like the Saitek Aviator stick (which lacks the shift key which the Cyborg stick has, on the other hand :) ). The problem with the Force Feedback version is that the stick twist is not well made and has a tendency to stop working - there was some rather easy fix for this, but you'll have to search on the net to find it. I haven't used the Thrustmaster products nor searched the net for opinions since I saw them in person and they personally look toyish, feel cheap and look rather ugly to me (I guess the Cyborg X would fit into the same category). I'd definitely check the X52 Pro. I have it and it feels rather solid for the price.1 point

While viewing F2 hit SHIFT+J. Sort of a camera movement/shake effect. I don't know if it's listed anyware, but I found it while poking around the config files a while back. It's a cool effect, but can cause some strange occurances every now and then. Specifically if you go to SHIFT+F11. (Or is that CTRL, I forget.) You can also edit the amount of shake. I left it as-is for DCS:BS and zero shake for DCS:WH with the "floaty" movement intact.1 point

We just did a three ship AAR practice. That was awesome I am telling you AWESOME. Its not just that you can hear eachothers calls but also the tanker will actually tell to hold in trail at 1 mile to wait for the first guy to complete. That is just ORGASMIC. Then we tried the JTAC yesterday, with three guys and he dished out different targets, so you had multiple attacks going on different targets managed by a single JTAC. So many things that do work properly now I forget that datalink very quickly. Besides, A-10s and other aircraft have been (and still are) working together for ages without datalink. There is something to say for the loadouts too because they are only the official loadouts used by real A-10s. This was already anounced by Wags. I don't think it would hurt to add a custom menu in the ground-crew rearm menu, but as it is now, there are not enough function keys for that :D1 point

Yeah, I think native speakers subconsciously figure it out by listening to the way speakers pronounce other words with "t"s in them, and then using that to determine whether or not "can't" will be pronounce "can't" or "can'<stop>".1 point

Well althought english have many similarities you don t have the exact same pronouciation meaning 5 diferent things just by inflection, which is scary to me, and most have kind of fun relation (like mother and cow)as it has been said. Also any kind of scripting in represenation, like Japonese, Chinese and so many others asiatic languages is only subjective after some point. Thats why nobody know all Chinese Character and if any know all japonese characters. The latin alfabet (and some others) try to avoid this rationalizing the scripting to a combination of a few characters.(Which come to the extreme and funny German championship of the longest word) Looking at those 2 aspects occidental is easyer than oriental, but oriental has a broader range of detailing even if a lot of the scripting fall in "obsolescence" due to no use. There only one way to really learn any language: a passion linked to it. If you don t connect something you really need /like to the language your trying to learn, you ll never pass good, if that much. And there s worst... most languages requires diferent uses of the same muscles (which get used in our childhood to operate in usually one or 2 forms connected to language learning) thats why people from some languages are utterly challenged to correctly reproduce sounds and words from some foreign languages. which can lead to dramatic mistakes in languages leaded by inflection. There also the mindset behind the language that affect much of the language structure, learning a gramatically foreign language is a good way to avoid alzheimer, but men, you gonna sufferrrrr.1 point

To cover the airfield diagrams, I've been travelling this week, but now DCS is final, when I get home I am planning to do another run through of the runways and update the diagrams to include the final detail. Some of the runways on the eastern side of the map were under done in B3, and B4 didn't have a real lot of extra detail. I'm hoping to have a final available in the next month, depending on time at home in that period1 point
-
This product is solid. In MP we had 9 people in a single server with no issues all day, whereas with B4, 5 people would bring it to it's knees or crash it. Don't be so apathetic. Would you take a girl home to dad and tell him you're pretty sure she was a stripper once.. just because she's naughty? ED is naughty.. but you keep your stripper talk to yourselves! Respect.1 point
-
Another trick to running a server is to edit the graphics.cfg and set the maximum frame rate limit to around 15 fps. This means the server spends less effort updating its display (just enough you can see what is going on) and more effort devoted to the players on the server.1 point

As an 8000+ hour jet pilot, having followed flight simulation since the mid 80s, I can attest this is the most accurate flight model I've flown on a PC. The sound, graphics, detail and "feel" very closely replicate the sensation of flight. You folks at ED have really outdone yourselves. Congrats! Looking forward to learning this airplane and can't wait for your next creation!1 point
