Alrighty boys and girls, it's been a while, but iControl DCS 3.0 is finally released (May take a while to propagate to all App Stores) along with a new server version. A-10 Virtual Cockpit Free A-10 VC Free is a limited functionality, ad supported version of its big brother iControl DCS. It is completely free. It has the combo MFCD, UFC, ILS, TACAN, Caution Warning, and a few other controls. It's a great way to give the application a try so you can see how well the MFCD export performs for you. Changes for iControl DCS New icon Significant increase in MFCD frame rates in the combo view Double tap to zoom in and out of MFCDs Improvements in connection handling, disconnects, etc. New controls: Throttle control via "Control Surfaces" button - this feature is experimental and may be removed in future versions. No more unzipping! New name, new icon One application. Works with both A10VC Free and iControl DCS Native versions for x86 and x64 Complete re-design of MFCD/CDU capture, faster and less PC resource intensive Ability to limit the frame rate captured Sim connection status Aero toggle - automatically disable Aero when the server starts Better detection of invalid configurations and guidance on resolving issues Improved debug logging Bug fixes and performance enhancements Requires Windows Vista or higher. Windows XP is not supported. Check out the website at http://www.bit-shift.com for more information on iControl DCS, A10 Virtual Cockpit Free, and A10 Virtual Cockpit Server. Thanks to everyone who's supported this project so far and for all the positive feedback. This is a great community and I'm not done yet... there's more coming in the next few months so stay tuned to twitter and the forums!1 point

First of all pros: * Shadows dynamic with facing and backing to sunlight. * Vikhr and rockets are damaging to tanks, with 1 vik or 2 tops for light and cheese or cheese kaboom.. * better engine sounds, eliminated right engine cutoff overlap sound over already spooled lefty (although a reverse approach solved part in BS1) * better wheel down/retraction sound * new cockpit door click sound on touching rubber gasket * Less annoying overspeed and RPM warning beeps * Better textures reflecting an aged but powerful aerobatic coaxial * Better APU startup sound Second of all cons: * No pilot corpse  (RshiftP) * No pilot head movement from exterior in SP with those using trackIR * Less head bobbing in cockpit * controls somewhat less smooth than before (axis issue) * Menu music is A-10c? c'mon.. I'll make some music and throw it to ya just for the next patch * FPS issues: Previously on BS1, I had no trouble running all medium with textures high only. All other things minimised for performance. ATi driver catalyst forcefully set to performace, and killed via task mgr. Now in BS2, I have to set textures to medium to get some FPS. * No support for fraps recording just like A-10c... It crashed the second I hit the record key. BS1 could support recording real time. BS2 RAT tool untested. Will try it and give feedback as well. * Price is too much for people already having steam BS1, and due to boner rash and tickle, I had to nerf 40 bucks from my credit card. I'm somewhat indifferent. Maybe I need to cool off. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Verdict * with a little more effort, ED could have given us a more polished product (such as FPS improvement, corpse, head bobbing like before) * over commercial disputes with steam I had to buy the license from ED, denouncing my right for the cheaper steam update (which wasnt in effect). * I'm happy it worked limited for the fact I'm part of a clan now, and I had to get it to be more active and expand my options. * happy with the sounds upgrade, lighting and shadows update. * not happy with $ tag unless ED would release a patch addressing some of the issues. Rating: Graphics 9/10 Sound 10/10 Control smoothness compared to BS1 6/10 Shits and giggles 7/10 Overall compared to BS1 (8/10) not tied to above ratings. Sincerely, Noc_ortho1 point

@y2kiah: I added the following lines to each of the 3 ATC.lua scripts: local function alphaSorter(a, b) local aname = a:getUnit():getName() local bname = b:getUnit():getName() return (bname > aname) end base.table.sort(atcs, alphaSorter) If you insert those lines directly after line 97 in each file, that will sort the names consistently. (Took me a bit of trial and error to figure that out!) If you make that change, run a mission, and take a screenshot of the ATC menus, then you can edit your VAC profile to match the sequence of names. After that everything should work fine.... at least it does for me.1 point

Hi guys Enjoying the conversation and learning a lot, but I do have to ask one slightly off-topic question: Is it possible to take control of the AC (like mentioned above) while watching a track? Even someone else's track? How does one go about doing that? ?????1 point

Similar here - Cannon and Rockets, Missiles do just fine. I simply ignored it (i.e. didn't fire) as the clearance was given under obviously incorrect(inappropriate conditions.1 point

Well this interview that I found on Gamespy: Eagle Dynamics Developer Q&A (Didn't see it posted here elsewhere) GameSpy: The Nevada map for DCS A10 was scheduled for a 2011 release – are you still on track to deliver? Will this map arrive with any missions or campaigns to make use of it? Jim: The Nevada map schedule has slipped, due to a compete rebuild and new technical features that are being developed. I think Spring 2012 is achievable. There will be missions and a campaign if we have time. Certainly campaigns will appear at a later stage. It is after all the area of Red Flag Exercises! So it had a little more information that I wasn't aware of. And I think he's probably safe with saying Spring 2012 is "achievable". So if it slips past spring '12 and if everyone is stomping their feet and smashing their fists, ED can simply state that it was achievable, not definite.1 point

Oooookay, finally got it sorted! I just couldn't leave it alone. Turns out I was doing the wrong (or maybe half of the correct) registry change: the main one to do is this one, with this one may or may not being needed. Once I got that fixed, my tests went as follows: 1920x1080 resolution: single GTX 580, no 3D: 29 FPS single GTX 580, 3D: 19 FPS two GTX 580 in SLI, no 3D: 37 FPS two GTX 580 in SLI, 3D: 28 FPS And in particular, 3D using SLI did not have any problems. Image quality looked the same to me as with one card. I'm using Win7-64 with 285.79...have you tried that set yet? Maybe it's a driver issue you're having.1 point

You are free to join us for a mission and see how easy they are for yourself ;). If it's planned properly it SHOULD be 'easy', even an SA-15 sat a few NM from the target is of little consequence, if the flight is planned accordingly. And ANY speed obtainable by ANY combat aircraft is no protection against a modern SAM system if you trespass into their NEZ, it's your own fault. But in all seriousness one of the main issues with the majority of publicly released missions and missions on public MP servers is lack of a good briefing with the necessary intel to effectively plan and execute the mission. There is no reason for you to find yourself in the WEZ of a known air defence system, and in modern warfare all but the smallest and most mobile systems will be known. The presence of AAA and MANPADS should be treated as a given unless intel expressly states otherwise, any formed military force WILL have them. But that said, there is no reason to drop into the NEZ of MANPADS even with a Dive Bomb attack, again it's where training, planning and understanding of the DSMS profile settings come in.1 point

Like all "how do I map x" or "why doesn't my x work" the answer is the Thrustmaster Warthog. :smilewink: It's even on sale for 20% off! I'm fairly certain that the TARGET software should be able to "when I pull the trigger first engage PAC then shoot" the problem is you don't always want PAC on the same amount of time and you don't always want to shoot after engaging PAC. Maybe try a modifier or something, hold Ctrl-Trigger = PAC then let go of Ctrl to fire? Or just buy the WH and live in a world where everything just works how it should. :)1 point

Two things... 1) Our pilots taxi all the time real world with the canopy open. 2) The canopy in the A-10 isn't hydraulicly actuated it's an electrical actuator. The canopy actuator on the A-10 is actually very large compared to say an F-15 which yes, an F-15 you don't taxi with the canopy opened.1 point

Если мне не изменяет память то на 25, помеха истребителя прожигалась, а штурма вроде 15. А так присоединяюсь, в ЛО2 рэб практически бесполезен для истребителей.1 point
