  3. Yeah Right so next plane is what ? Sopwhip camel ? VS fokker E3 ? I don t know about you guys, but if you don t know, but just to stay on todays possibilities and not the past: WW1 theres Rise of Flight WW2 theres CloD We lack: Vietnam So maybe realeasing some old F4, M21, F21, A7, Mig19 would be more interesting to the comunity than a paying for a P51. And i guess collecting data and realeasing them will be far easyer than real modern planes, and military won t be picky about that. And again, you ll get huge attetion from the simmers. FC3 is clearly acceptable, P51, for me, is a very bad signal. It feel like, "OMG we need money! Let push things out of the closet and sell everything on Ebay." I really hope i m wrong on that assumption...because this is bothering me far more than a useless P51 on present FLOT.

  9. My we are picky. Perhaps you should have been there. I was taught to call out the starter cutout. Sometimes they don't shut down by themselves. Start signal was twirling one finger. Not necessary to motor unless you have a strong tailwind and the engine is windmillimg backwards. It was heavy frost and was not in front of intakes. Fighter pilots call it the arming area. Maybe that's why you left the flying to the pilots. They weren't all crew chiefs. Are you a female? :):)

  14. As the topic starter, I'm fascinated by some of the negative opinions about the P-51D announcement around here. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who will come to ED/DCS for the single reason that they will release this product, so this means more and new business for ED. More business means more funds for developments means more business means more funds...as long as ED stays true to their acclaimed principles of delivering high fidelity simulations, how should a successful expansion have negative consequences for the fan base, whatever area of aviation they fancy? To the contrary. I personally wish that the P-51D will be a huge success and allow ED to grow, produce more aircraft faster and provide all the optimisations that are being asked for. Where's the problem? MAC

  16. Exactly. The ball is at producer side and it is in its business to get it fixed soon as possible. That his problem, not everyone on the server, especially not admin. We don't need mentally ill persons. No, admin doesn't need to think about anything like that ;] That is the problem of joined people. Some rules can be stupid, like TS presence so if I don't like it I don't enter. Nope. You have right to not liking such settings. If so, don't enter :) As I said we don't need mentally ill people around. I don't care about his needsdesires and IMHO nobody should care about. He is just little, poor & frustrated kid:D

  20. You guys want ED to do something about it and soon and by "soon" I don't mean standard "2 weeks"? I suggest EVERYONE simply stops hosting and playing FC2 MP... when ED sees no one plays their sim any more they should wake up... I hope... I've stopped flying FC2 for few months already and don't have any more interest in its bugs and now this hack attacks just put a knife deeper. I think it's time ED starts listening to their fans and not wait for who knows how long to release FC3 in order to address this... this really needs a hotfix / patch and I mean ASAP. If they know how they can stop this then they better get off their ass and do the right thing with their supporters and fans... waiting months doesn't do them or us any good... just my 2c

  21. Because your throttles effect fuel flow (not directly) and therefore core RPM, core RPM is also the primary indicator of engine health. Fan RPM also varies with air pressure and temperature, so 82% Fan RPM (for example) may be maximum throttle on one flight, but on the next you might be hitting 85% Fan RPM at full throttle. Where as in both cases core RPM 98% (IRL in won't be as it varies from aircraft to aircraft, and even between engines) at full throttle.

  27. And your feedback is very welcome. But when the announcement says that development of DCS P-51D does not preclude continued parallel development of the coming jet fighter, it means exactly that. So our point is that concern for the modern jet side of things is not relevant to this. Actually, no, they're an admission of the fact that no code is ever perfect. We are talking about software that is millions of lines of code long (okey, I don't know for sure, I don't have access to the source, but you get the point). Whenever you add a feature, you add new code - this is code that has not had the same time for optimization as the old code, simply because it's new. This is the standard problem in software development of when to go into codefreeze - that is, a point when the only thing permitted is optimization and bugfixes. As an example, if ED had gone the industry standard route (as I know it - though my background is as a journalist in the gaming sector), you would for example never have seen cockpit shadows in A-10C. They were a new feature, requiring the development of a new cockpit system. That's the big problem - do you stop giving your users new features once you've made the sale and focus only on fixes and optimizations, or do you also give them new features and accept a hit on performance and reliability? Not an easy thing to decide, and I'm actually happy I'm not the one making those decision. That's the thing though - compared to what, in this same sector? Compared to what is commonly called a triple-A product in this industry, like Mass Effect or Rage etcetera? Sure. But realize that those are developed by companies that have a fulltime QA department twice the size of the entirety of ED, a marketing department equalling ED, and support from some of the biggest companies in the industry. It all has to be in context. And maybe it would be better if ED completely dropped all ambition at adding features post-release and did nothing but bug-fixes. I don't personally think so (I love the new cockpits for one!), but you are within your right to state a differing opinion on that. But I, as a fellow customer, might not agree! (And yes, in case you didn't know: I'm a fellow customer. Eagle Dynamics has never paid me a single dollar - I got a signed box-copy of BS1 for my B-day, that's the full extent of my compensation. :P ) Perhaps that is the point? I suspect it might look more "official" than it is when we moderators are speaking, but it isn't official. We're just customers like you who happen to spend too much time on this forum. :) Agreed. The difference is that I don't expect it to be. I look at DCS P-51D as specifically DCS P-51D. It's a great bird and fun to fly. Whether it's worth the money is up to you to decide - remember that as of yet the price hasn't even been decided. Well, the market itself disagrees with you. As it looks, DCS P-51D appears to be slated as a direct competitor to A2A Mustang - which has nothing that you mentioned. In fact, you can't even shoot other P-51's down. That's another point: if you feel that this doesn't target you as a customer - fair enough. I totally get that. But please realize that this is not different to a jet-jockey deciding he won't purchase Black Shark because it's a helicopter and he isn't interested in what Black Shark offers. This is all bigger than both you and me. That's what we have been trying to say: no, it isn't. It doesn't fit what YOU want out of DCS. Fair enough and true. But that's not all DCS is. That's the point. ;) Here's a question: if ED is able to make profits with DCS P-51D, and perhaps leverage that profit towards hiring more developers... Do you still object to it's existance, even though this happened without a single dollar leaving your pocket?

  33. welcome to the community and welcome in the DCSverse, it´s a massive detailed Simulation. Two recommendations. 1.) visit the wiki. It contains numerous of information and tutorials (you´ll find it on the top of this page (wiki). It´s well structered, so you´d find there what you´re looking for. 2.) check out the Squadrons list and look for an open one. Flying online is more teaching than messing through the Trainings alone. good luck EDIT: Noticed that you have registered right today, so here´s the link to the root page according to DCS A-10C Warthog: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/DCS:_A-10C_Warthog

  34. Nothing personal, but... I'm losing confidence in what ED is doing lately. First BS2 - they left BS1 still with bugs, beacuse it was necessary to update the engine and all to make it compatible with A-10. What for? No idea. Flying the Shark and the Hog in coop makes no sense and neither does dog-fighting with the two. The engine is badly optimized and some missions are unplayable even for top hardware that significantly exceeds recommended specs. A-10 on the runway is as stutter-fest even after the patches, same goes for too many contrails or overcast weather. BS2 has the new Medved campaign which is also unplayable unless you edit the weather (stutters + too strong wind at which the heli should even fly?). Noe there comes a 20$ Nevada map, which is only good for... dunno Red Flag maybe? Alien invasion? Now they have the Mustang. Cool, it would be nice to have a proper WWII flight sim after CloD has failed and IL-2 is getting old. Only it's not a WII flight sim. And it's supposed to be online compatible with A-10 and BS2. For what? Apart from for-fun what-if scenarios it's useless. A DCS: Su-25 would make sense in this and it's almost done in FC2 anyway, all it needs is a click-able pit. So why do we get the P-51? Because ED made it to check if it's possible to make a prop plane with this engine. And since they have succeeded, someone thought: "Hey, let's sell it, our fans will buy anything with DCS touch applied to it". No matter if it's pointless or unpolished. And I most definitely assure anyone thinking otherwise, that the IL-2 community will not switch to DCS because of it. No proper WII theater, no campaign, only one plane... and it's the Mustang... Whoever wanted the Mustand in study sim form just to fly around already has it from A2A. Without a proper theater and more WII planes to come, to make dog-fighting have a point, this is just a quick money grab from the fanboys' pockets. Sorry ED, but you really have to try harder than that to "fill the gap".

  36. I am working on the countermeasures system first. The ABRIS is a bit more technical as there is a lot of information. I'm still doing some research to figure out how to properly relay relevant information and still keep it simple. The countermeasures will be up later tonight or tomorrow. I will keep my first post updated as I go.

  37. As long as your controllers are configured correctly in the Input Options, they should work well. If you haven't already done so, try to go through the "A-10C Real" input profile and make sure all of your axes and buttons are mapped correctly - and that nothing extra is mapped where it should not be (like throttle controlling pitch and roll). Finally, make sure Game Mode is OFF in Gameplay options.

The mission consisted of a series of straight-in approaches in twilight and darkness. The pilot also performed an evaluation of the F-35's cockpit lighting which Ward called, "the best he's ever seen." 41.
