Operation Bactria, COOP14, Afghanistan-style CAS DOWNLOAD LINK v3.2 Release Notes v3.0 /3.2 - Inspired by early 2000's and contemporary Afghanistan conflict - A mission striving for pure realism with regards to tasking and loadout. - Mountain Combat - Completely randomized tasking. - Modular design allowing for more tasking in future versions. - 283 triggers, 171 custom voice recordings, excellent FPS. - Compatible with DCS: World v1.2.3 - Multiplayer, COOP 14 players ****RELEASE HISTORY**** v3.0 - Addition of 4 ship Tusk flight to make the mission a COOP14. Drastic gameplay improvements and bug fixes. v2.0 - Addition of new content to make the mission a COOP10 with a new 2 ship. General bug fixes and enhancements. v1.0 - First Release C3k-84ST1YA ***Task*** Hawg, Pig, Boar, and Tusk flights will proceed to IP Banks, IP Adder, IP Dodge and IP Mazda respectively, where they will receive on-call tasking from AWACS. Once tasking is complete, AWACS will order each flight back to their IP's and generate new, randomized tasking. AWACS will indicate when a flight's station time is complete. Each flight will fly in a geographically distinct area and is not connected with the other in communication or organization. ***Mission Background*** This mission seeks to replicate the nature of A-10 sorties in Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. While the combatants and tasking are not direct references to real life engagements, many of the taskings in this mission were inspired by real life events (Battle of Takur Ghar, Battle of Wanat). The enemy will sometimes exist in a more conventional form as the Taliban existed during the 2001 invasion, comprised of armor and moderate air defenses. Other times, the enemy will consist as insurgents who ambush NATO forces in an unconventional manner. The taskings I created range from on call CAS in support of infantry or convoys, static strikes of caves or buildings, as well as assisting conventional and special forces. The Caucuses were used to emulate the Hindu Kush, Pamir, and Arma mountain ranges of Afghanistan. The loadouts for both flights were carefully chosen to adhere to realism as well as maintain gameplay. Pilots must use their ordnance in moderation. The loadouts were picked and setup according to real life research and photos. Combined with fuel, aircraft weight is roughly 88-90% of maximum weight allowing for excellent maneuverability at altitude. Pilots will rely heavily on their gun in CAS oriented taskings and can utilize precision guided munitions for more conventional missions. Credits: Everyone that assisted me in this thread. I don't see the point in starting a new thread for each skin that I do, that will only lead to cluttering up the forums and making it harder for users to find what they want, so I though I would start a threat where I will post all of my new repaints. I've been painting in Photoshop for years, and for the last couple of years I part founded and built a skins website for the IL-2 series. That site is going to remain for IL-2 and I will be looking for a new place to upload my work to. Anyway, I will keep a running list in this first post with a screenshot and link to each of my skins. Progress will be posted as the thread develops. Anyway, Here we go: P-51D - Live Bait N5482V Available Here! P-51D - Excalibur N151W Available Here!l P-51D - Six Shooter Available Here!l TF-51D - Little ITE Available Here! P-51D - Geraldine Available Here!l P-51D - Twilight Tear Available Here! P-51D - Gunfighter Available Here! I must extend my thanks to my friends Ali Fish, who explained the Specular textures to me, and Blaze who helped me get set up with dds textures. All skins here will eventually be made public when I am happy with them The "To Do" list: Glamorous Gal Happy Jack's Go Buggy I will take requests, but I will not guarantee doing them and I may not be the quickest. What I will say, is that when I skin, I try to get them as accurate as possible which may take a little more time.1 point

Screw up in the traffic pattern once too many, and you're taken off the flying schedule and made a forum moderator... ;)1 point

The difference can't be explained in words. You have to play it to feel as a survivor. It's like a Falcon BMS (DayZ) and HAWX (Namalsk Horror).1 point

Small detail: Overhead markpoint is created using the button (MK) on the UFC and creates a mark at your current location. Mark point creates a mark at your SPI. Sources can be TDC, TGP, MAV and TAD (cursor). Markpoint Z is always a weapon release markpoint. So if you do a gun run, switch to markpoint Z to navigate or slave your sensors to where your rounds impacted. There is also a small icon on the TAD with 'z'. Page 465 in the manual.1 point

I agree... In some ways it is like comparing a walkman to an IPOD ... The comparisons will be made of course .. and personally I think that is more a testament to the greatness of IL2.. There was a time when from a pure sim standpoint regardless to what some FA & AH guys may say ... IL2 was as good as it got... as flawed as it may have been.. but it is over a decade old and therefore the comparisons are largely moot. One would expect a product that was released in 2012 to be much better than one released in 2001 .. I think better, and fairer comparisons could be made between Wings of Prey and Cliffs of Dover and DCS. I think that the DCS P-51.. which is the only DCS AC that I have done more than a cursory flight in and also the only one whose FM I can actually compare through multiple sims ... is the finest model of the aircraft made to date.. but none of that can take away what 1C did for the genre with IL2.. I don't know where DCS plans to go with this .. I don't think we will ever see the varied planeset that we see in IL2 here in DCS .. which is fine with me.. I'd be happy with a dozen or so give or taker a few WWII era aircraft modeled this way ... I couldn't agree more.. and that was one of the things that made IL2 so unique at it's height.. Before the mods came out for better or worse.. you had to learn to fly what you had .. not what the historical stats said you were supposed to have.. and it was challenging to do so. It definitely had it's flaws for sure.. but it was still a good piece.. and I think that FB changed that because I had to use a lot more runway in a fully loaded P-47 with rockets and bombs than I did in one with just extra ammo .. The same can be said for taking off from a carrier as well... I understand what teapot is saying .. that s the same thing that happened to me when I first tried IL2 from CFS 1 .. and when the first Mustang was released in FB .. the one that came in a patch.. it was miles ahead of anything in CFS even the 1% planes I think they were called... Nothing can take away what IL2 has done and it can even still be argued that pound for pound it is still at this point in time the best WWII sim on the market.. but there is absolutely no doubt that the DCS Mustang has raised the bar to an entirely different level, one that will be hard to compete with.. I think that even if they come out with a handfull of planes.. every WWII sim on the market today will have to be looking over their shoulder.. I never was into jets but I know a lot of guys who are and they all thought that FC was even better than Falcon as far as modern AC go.. and let's face it .. there aren't a lot of helo sims out anyway so there is no competition on that front either for DCS.1 point

Time is the big killer! It's a bummer when Real Life gets in the way! A while back I had the similar idea and contacted Thrustmaster, they sent me two adobe illustrator files of the pannels for the Warthog Throttle. In the original files there are seperate layers for the line, text, hole and LED placement. I'm not sure how copyright would work but if they are of any use you could send a similar email or a PM :smilewink: Cheers! (Edit - Some Gremlin seams to have gotten into my photobucket account! Hmmm!)1 point

the Default freq is 150AM. I would hope if a mission maker changed it it would be noted.1 point

Flew an SNJ (AT-6) with P-51 tailwheel installed (as many do) for about 10 years, and what the sim vids here show is not the way it should work. With TO Assist at 100% the DCS '51 almost feels right, but with it off its pretty much unmanageable. Suspect this tailswheel thing is, or is related to, the problem. Otherwise, it's a terrific sim. That lovely music the V-12 makes isn't near loud enough, though. :smilewink:.1 point

Accu-Feel A2A P-51D is a standard that can't be beat.IMHO. Still looking forward to DCS-P-51D. Would like to see which has more detail. Combat really means nothing to me, just want to fly as close to RL as sims. will allow. So DCS carry on, looking forward to release version.:)1 point

The different resolution read out is caused because you must have adjusted/applied bezel compensation. Please check your CCC again - and you will see that when you have a grouped display - and change the bezel compensation you will also change the overall res. - something you have always to keep in mind when setting up additional exports. To get all other things working like opening the FOV and and many more is explained here: Fix for misplaced/stretched MP and Mission Gui - also for BS1 point

I've been editing some missions and noticed while in bad weather the building's shadow appear dark black even when the building itself isn't visible. It happens when I add heavy snow to the mission. Does it happen with someone else? I've attached some pictures and a simple mission to reproduce the problem.. shadow bug.miz1 point
