The target is most likely outside of AWACS coverage. If you want to fire at targets outside of its coverage (i.e by satellite navigation), you need to use the 'Attack Group' command. I just tried it, and it worked fine against a target 485 nm away. -

Good catch! I've done some testing myself and it seems like some ships can't be detected until around 35-40 nm. So they're not invisible, only harder to see at longer range. I've tested both mods and in-game assets and the results are all over the place. I also noticed that if you add AWACS support to your side the AI will pick up the ships at normal ranges. I will continue to investigate. Edit: I found the issue. -

Yep, I added a Ka-52 with only the cannon and a couple of trucks. If you're using the Ka-52K remember that it defaults to antiship and not CAS. -

If you want to get it fixed. Remove all the single assets, install the country packs, let DCS crash and send me the DCS.log and I'll tell you what you didn't clean up. -

I understand your question since DCS limitations requires me to be innovative. The DF-21D can be used in two ways. 1) With AWACS support. The DF-21D will launch at will if the target is within AWACS range. 2) With (imaginary) satellite support. The DF-21D will only launch if you give it a fire at group/unit order, but you can use it at its maximum range. This is my emulation of using satellites for targeting. -

I haven't decided yet, we'll see. Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into cold war assets. It hasn't been a priority, but you never know. Do you mean the windows/glass on a lot of my assets? If so, the reason is because most of my asset don't have an actual interior and I don't want to spend too much time making stuff that doesn't really make any difference. I rather make more assets. Thanks! The DF-21D works fine for me and has been tested with all my other assets. Sounds like a conflict, remove all mods and test them in blocks to find the culprit. -

Thanks for the info! As always when I make my assets, I spend a lot of time researching. And it always ends up inconclusive or conflicting. So at the end I have to make a choice of what and how to implement something. I don't doubt your information, but for every bit of information there are always as many telling me the opposite. For example, here is a picture released by the China Military Online (sponsored by the PLA News Media Center) of the hull 629 Tongling 056A firing their 30 mm CIWS, also with their box launchers in the background. The reason I chose to name it the 056A was because the 056 is being phased out and transferred to the Coast guard (where most of it heavy weapons will be removed). But I'm happy with my 056A asset, which surely can be used as an analogue for both the 056 and 056A in DCS missions. Consider it a 056 slowly being refitted to a 056A. -

Thanks! Yeah, I plan to make Chinese helicopters. But there were a lot of of additions and changes in this release, so it'll have to wait until the next one. Until then I would suggest using a Blackhawk with Chinese livery. Since the Z-20 is based on the 70s UH-60, that would be a reasonable analogue for now. -

It will, but it won't be very effective until I've released the next update of the US asset pack. With every asset pack update I go through all radars and weapons to tweak their settings for more realism. -

Thank you! I don't set release dates, but I can disclose that I'm doing final work on the last asset for this update. When that's done there's a testing phase before release. So we're getting pretty close. -

The booster will initially speed it up. But it will settle its cruise speed just below Mach 1.0, like the real thing. I will go through all the weapons when updating the country pack the next time, and I will check if the booster needs tweaking. -

Your suggestion about returning to single assets has been received. I feel like I'm repeating myself every other day, but okay, here it is: I don't allow redistribution of my assets, for example by hacking them up and re-packaging them for further distribution. I make my assets for own entertainment, and release them for others to enjoy. If you don't enjoy my assets, you don't have to use them.
