Hi! and Welcome to the forum! Once you start using Tir for a while, you cant go back. I must say that I found the adaptation difficult at first, but as Aphelion said, you have to make your own profile with a small dead zone in the middle, where you can rest your head and neck without being stiff. You also need to program a key that is easily reachable (I have it on my HOTAS) to recenter the Tir (the minute you stand up of go away you will need to recenter, and the feeling of ease of use depends very much on how you did center with your head really relaxed). I also use another startegy. I have programmed a button on my HOTAS that takes me directly to the snapviews and I have edited my snapviews (within LOFC with the alt-KPdel key). Therefore, with the press of one button I get a fixed view (say of the dashboard, or a zoomed in view of the HUD) and it comes in handy if you get desoriented looking around. Some people (my younger bro for example) hate it because it moves too much : make yourself smoother curves and add some smoothing. Anyway, I cannot imagine how to fly without it (just padlocking a spot on the ground while making a turn at 60 degrees is so realistic!). Good luck! JEFX

DCS: Black Shark - Q&A **READ FIRST!**
JEFX replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
GG, despite the fact that it will turn on automatically on launch, will we have to wait for the laser to be ready again for a certain period like in FC before we can launch? What will be the limit of working time for the laser before shut down? thanks JEFX -
Thanks Ratcatcher, I will give news in 2 days (cant wait...). Lockon is fine but I am really looking forward to learn and drive that great shark with such a display! JEFX

Thanks again Ratcatcher and ggg, I finally got my TH2Go and it works as you said. I got my three screens and the matrox thing yesterday and it worked right away with your numbers. It is awesome but as you said, it slows down the system a lot (because of the zoomed out increased FOV). but :smilewink: In two days I will get a new 9800GX2 black edition from XFX, (and unfortunatly a new power supply because this monster eats up a lot of power...) and I will report back with the results. WOW JEFX

Here you go, two older threads on the matter : (trackball, mouse, TDC) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=20777&highlight=rugg+trackball and http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=22346&highlight=rugg+trackball

The key to it is to use the MOUSE! Or if you have one, use a good trackball! JEFX

I agree with you, I think this forum is very quiet these days (maybe vacation in lockonland?). I am as curious as you to get more Dev reports and screens... JEFX

WELL WELL that is what I call a great and detailed answer! Thanks a lot! I will keep this preciously and am ordering my new setup as soon as possible! Fantastic post!:) JEFX

A plea for proper FOV adjustment for triplehead displays
JEFX replied to Joe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks a lot! Very appreciated! Hoping that all this will get TH2go more attention! JEFX -
Thanks Ratcatcher I am very tempted! I am wondering about monitor sizes? If one goes LCD, it is said that those work in native resolution, that means it is best for triplehead to go with 3x19'' , correct? How come you are using 20''s? JEFX

ggg I just looked again at your pics in post #16 (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=222680&postcount=16) and I really want one like that also!!! Can you just make a synthesis of the values that need to be changed exactly (sort of a tutorial for newbies at THtoGO) thanks! JEFX

edit... It is Ratcatcher who has the THtoGO and touchbuddy together. Can you explain your setup please? JEFX -

SPYBAZ What are your settings in order to make THtoGO work? I am trying to get as much info as possible because I might buy one also! (you said you got it running smoothly in 3 hours... mind sharing the numbers?) I am a bit lost in the actual physical configuration of the system for it to work properly : do you need 2 video cards to make thtogo work with 3 screens? You also have touchbuddy, do you have another card for it or another computer in network??? thanks JEFX -
ggg Thanks again for sharing all your efforts! Does THtoGo require more than one graphics card? I saw on their website that the thing connects via ONE cable to the comp. (and of course 3 cables to the monitors), does that mean only one card? (I see in your sig 2x 8800ultras???) If you have 2 cards, how do you set this up? I am very tempted to go THtoGO (by the way, they say that they are out of stock on their web site...). If ever I get there, would you mind sharing your configuration numbers, what did you change and for what reason? I dont know what to configure for such a resolution (and the famous zoom issue, etc) thanks a lot! JEFX

multiple monitors? or giant screen?
JEFX replied to JEFX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks guys for all replies. I am thinking about all this... JEFX -
Thanks ggg for your answer. You are right, 3 projectors looks like a dream on earth... I am going to think about it, because for 3 projectors, one needs room, I mean physical space, which I dont have... JEFX

Hi ggg I am now thinking about going into THtoGo, what is the situation as of now? I see that most of this thread is pretty old? Is the game playable with 3 monitors? Could it be better with a 30'' display and say a nice 9800GTX at 2560x1600 or you think that 3 monitors is still better? I couldnt find an answer on the question of FPS and those huge resolutions? I have a decent system (one and a half year old good system : Core2Duo E6600, 2 Gigs of RAM, nVidia 7950x2 . thanks JEFX

I have seen, in the past, many screens of people with various screens configurations and a wondering what is the best possibility for updating my setup? three screens with triple head to go seem great but have a FOV problem if I am not mistaken? 2 screens left and right is easy enough to setup but leaves with a thick black plastic stripe in the middle of the image, no? I am considering buying a very large LCD (those beautiful Samsung 305T 30'' with 2560X1600 resolution... Will LOFC be playable at this resolution? And what VIDcard can handle this resolution with a decent FPS in LO? thanks JEFX

Happy Birthday Pilotasso! I missed this thread yesterday. But one's birthday is supposed to last for a week, right? Have a good one! JEFX

You are right Mizzy, this is one of the most beautiful MOD ever made for LOFC. Thanks guys! JEFX

How about including South Africa in Black Shark
JEFX replied to Zulu's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Now, if you dont mind me saying, I cant believe we are here actually discussing ethical matters related to a flight sim... In my opinion, it doesnt matter where the hyppothetical (or real) conflicts takes place because it has NOTHING to do with reality... The key to playing that sort of sim is immersion and you get it from many aspects : beauty of the scenery (clouds, mountains, etc. cheetahs or latin chicks would be welcome:D), or from the realism of flight envelopes and avionics (say SU-25T flight model or upcoming Abris), or from tactical complexity, (timings, altitudes, flightplans, online coop, etc.). But it has really nothing to do with the atrocity of actual war... War is not about aircrafts and missiles, it is about your own children raped in front of your eyes, it is about torture, it is about 12 year-old kids firing rifles at brothers and kins, it is about the most horrible things in human hearts. We play a sim because we are little boys adorned with what one of my girlfriends called the vehicular gene (that explains why almost all girlfriends dont really understand our passion for cockpit switches...pardon me Mizzy, you are an exception, praise to you!). I think we should feel much worse about some stupid guy steeling one's mother's purse in the street or talking without respect to one's wife, (and all other form of violence one can imagine, it is probably unfortunately happening now), than about bombing an area of Israel, Canada or Africa with a virtual aircraft)... It IS a game for Godssake. But if one feels that he or she is actually doing the real thing (I am talking about war and violence), I really think that this person should quit playing Flaming cliffs (or AmA, or whatever shooter that is fashionable and gory these days). Now, this is my humble opinion, and I realize that I am being a bit on the moralist side... Sorry, I am probably gettin too old...;) JEFX -
Hi! all fellow simmers and virtual friends-in-cockpit. In the last few days I have made myself up-to-date with many long interesting posts that I had missed (too much work...). I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU! to ED and its representatives for the best customer information service that I have seen! It is amazing how much you guys DO answer all questions so patiently and precisely. Thanks WAGS for the great producer's notes and all your following precisions. thanks EVILBIVOLfor answering again and again all those questions, and GG and all other testers and partners. Even OLGERD who jumps in once in a while to answer some delicate topic. This is unbelievable and unheard of in recent sim history! (or in this so-money-hungry gaming world...) The level of detail, the realism, the incredible amount of data that is already accumulating in DCS:Black Shark is mind boggling. Dont forget that we are talking here about a game that sells for a few dozen bucks... We are a particularily demanding crowd, as if we were ordering multi-million dollar aircrafts for real. And, patiently, the devs answer all our questions undisturbed. Add to this the recent history of computer development and, looking at EDs projects, in whichever order they come... the next few years, thanks to ED, are simmers paradise! THANK YOU!:D JEFX Thanks again
