  1. Always disable E cores for gaming.
  2. Have a look at Gamers Nexus' review of the 4080.....
  3. Jesus, you can get 64GB of DDR5 for less than that (unless I've read the context wrongly)? Get in the now man
  4. That's the one, looks amazing. It was behind a Perspex box at CES, but is a real thing. With this and the Pico4 (latter awesome with a good PC), sim VR is looking really good for 2023...
  5. The 'upcoming' Somnuim VR1 looks very nice on paper, open source to boot, allowing modding of the headset to some extent....
  6. @xoxenGet the 4080 idea right out of your head...you do not want one. 2 posters (and I make 3), in a 7 post thread, saying "don't go there", plus Gamers Nexus on youtube saying the same.....NO.
  7. 75° is ok for a 3070 and CPU but yes, DCS isn't well optimised yet, that will come. Updates to games have always pushed PC performance, that's how gaming has always gone, no surprise really. I had to ditch my ZX Spectrum to play Jinxter and Gauntlet II on AtariST, upgrade to Playstation 1 to play the next generation of great games...and so on. PC gaming is no different. You certainly won't "melt your system" playing DCS.
  8. These new cards look fantastic on the face of it. Amazing price for the "specs" (wait for release ofc),SFF, not too power hungry for the next gen stuff, the upgrade to Display Port had me intrigued. Will that mean a nice improvement for WMR VR headsets? In any case, this announcement makes jumping on a 4090 seem premature, to be polite.
  9. Like MRTV said, stick to the G2.
  10. I got one from immersive-display and it made a ton of goodness. I just hope HP bring us a G3 with pancake lenses and DP connection...and a cable that works out of the box!
  11. TVs have got thinner in the 5-6 years OP has used track IR. Bought a new telly and the sensor won't clip to a thin screen. Velcro solves all.
  12. yes, use velcro, NOT magnets on the back of your tv.
  13. VR is more of a DCS engine issue though??
  14. They're fine. Commentors get a bit pompous because the GR have fun with the sim, not taking themselves too seriously.
  15. @durka-durkaI would recommend NOT buying a 4090. Way overpriced, wait for reviews on mobos, RAM, PSU requirements etc. There are way too many reasons not to buy one, than to just grab the next tech stuff. Up to you ofc, but the prices of the next gen stuff is insane, and not completely unexpected. Won't run DCS much faster too.
  16. The A770 16GB is looking really good at a much nicer cost than the price gouging AMD/Nvidia offerings. It will run anything you throw at it...how well, is another thing. There may not be much gain at all between a 3080 and 4080 for DCS, as things stand. Wait for reviews, make your own mind up. p.s I'm not a dev, I just watch the info and judge for myself.
  17. @astrospudJust use alu channel from Bunnings. Cheap as chips and no shipping.
  18. Tornado goodness from FJP - Questions to devs needed!
  19. More FJP goodness....
  20. Is this where the Anubis mod went? Now officially released?
  21. Hello @Spirit X You will get a hundred different answers and things get confusing. Even though the next generation of CPU and GPU are on the horizon, current offerings (which are dropping in price) will last you, me and many other currently happy PC owners for at least 5 years. There is simply no need to jump on the latest and greatest tech. So that is one thing less to worry about: Right now, you are looking at a 12th gen Intel CPU (12700 or similar), or AMD 5000 series CPU, whichever company you prefer. All much of a muchness... Motherboard must suit the CPU - Go B660 for intel (no idea for AMD). You can't overclock a non 'K' Intel CPU so save money on a non-overclocking motherboard! GPUs are tumbling in price and the gouging is a thing of the past. A 3080 Ti with 10 or 12 GB of RAM would be a good investment, I use the 10GB version but 12GB would've been slightly better. (There weren't any in my country when I was buying, so I went 10GB). Go for 64GB RAM now if you want to multiplayer DCS in the future. Get a 500GB M.2 for Windows, and a 1 or 2 TB (depending on how many games/pictures etc) M.2 SSD stick. A gold 850W power supply is a minimum, case reviews are easy to find and come down to airflow, size etc. Make sure the 'form factor' will fit your motherboard! 'All in one' water cooling radiator and pump kits are awesome and fairly cheap too. This will keep your CPU cool during those long Syrian campaigns! This lot will last you 5 years plus, without any worries whatsoever. Have a butchers at https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ and have a play around. There is a section of completed builds too, which will give you a good idea of what to look for, motherboard CPU pairing etc. There are also many companies who will build for you.
  22. Saying "don't buy an i5" for DCS is pish. We get this an awful lot from new PC builders wanting a good rig for DCS in VR. A 12600 (non K) is a very good option, plus 32 or 64 GB or DDR4, 3080 12GB (non Ti). That will run DCS perfectly well in OpenXR in VR. No need for 3090Ti or 12900K CPU's. And as they are cheap at the moment, a far better bet than waiting for an overpriced next gen CPU and GPU, which will be 50% cheaper in 5 years.
  23. Tim at Fast Jet Performance on youtube is awesome. He has his own server and a comprehensive RL training program.
  24. @HoirtelI would grab an i5 12600 or 12700 and a 3080 12gb right now, and laugh at the fools who hung on for the overpriced "next gen". DDR5 is the future ofc, but is slightly less than, or at least equal to DDR4 right now. That will change as tech develops. I was "shoe horned" into DDR5 only by virtue of going SFF and Intel 12th gen. No regrets. The only gripe I had was the cost, that is coming down steadily.
